Is anyone seeing a few blurry pics? For some reason the camera doesn't focus at all meaning the entire surrounding is blurry. This doesn't always happen though, say one in every seven. Photos aren't as quick either, when my friend raced me with her Blackberry Torch hers was much quicker, mine seems not so different to the arc where it focuses and then takes the photo. Certainly not just over 1 second.

NightBlade, Congratulations - but update their sig location pls.

This may not matter to anyone else but to ME its a BIG deal.

Sony Music Unlimited now available in Canada on smartphones and tablets!
Sources:
http://mobilesyrup.com/2012/0[....]da-on-smartphones-and-tablets/
http://www.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/ca-en/music-unlimited/

Sony Entertainment Network, the new umbrella name for all previous Sony content, offers over 15 million licensed songs from all the major labels, plus “leading independent labels, and major publishers worldwide.” For $9.99/month, the Premium plan gives access to premium channels and on-demand songs and albums, including offline listening capabilities. The cheaper $3.99/month Basic plan allows radio-like music streaming with no on-demand access, but both choices are commercial-free. The premium channels are catered to your music tastes, so the more music you listen to, the better Music Unlimited gets at finding music you’d like.

This shows to me that Sony is working VERY hard globally to be a major presence in media to fight Apple's iTunes service ... something that Google Music or Amazon haven't done too well with outside of the USA.

That XS/XIon is getting closer to appealing to my wallet this Spring.

I JUST WON AN XPERIA S OFF TWITTER TOOOOOOO!!!

So freaking happy!!!!!

Posted by stais
Congrats adsada Second winner in this thread, I think?

I just got my Xperia S. Haven't had much time with it yet but first impressions are positive! I feared I would consider it a bit too big, but now that I'm able to hold it I'd say it seems just right.

Posted by tranced
You guys are lucky. I envy your Sony Twitter accounts. Ours has been idle since last year.

Posted by adsada
Yeah me and NightBlade, we're making esato proud

Had time to digest the new, I was actually shaking! haha

I am not really on twitter I just use the account for competitions and stuff, I don't know what to do with my arc now!

Posted by tranced
If you want I pay the delivery to DR

Posted by goldenface
Congratulations! It's great when you win stuff.

I keep on getting missed calls from network provider, I'll give them a call later to see what they have to offer. It might be an upgrade to a nice XS.

Hmm. For some reason the Facebook profile pics don't turn up on the contacts in my phone book. Used to do with the X10 IIRC. Any ideas?

I found it didn't link some of my contacts to Facebook, so had to go in and manually link them.

Hi. How much does xperia s cost in your countries?

Posted by mustafabay
In Egypt its going for 4250 EGP aprox 535 Euros

Posted by Mr.K
It goes for about 427€ in Switzerland.

Found an interesting test of the Xperia S and other phones. Looks very positive for XS.

Especially interesting is how it beats Sensation XE, which I think uses the same CPU and GPU (on the same clock speeds). Seeing how powerful can it be, makes not having a Snapdragon Krait more bearable. Let's hope they do sth with the battery as well. With CM9 and clean ICS on board, it will be a killer machine.

Battery life is a bit bad at the moment, in 12 hours, I've lost 50 per cent of battery with minimal use.

I have screen on auto brightness but it seems to be draining the battery a lot.

Do you have a yellow tint on your display, more noticeable on a white background?

Posted by rickster2kuk
No, not that I can see.

Loving the phone, just need to get this battery sorted, but I assume that may be first first firmware fixed.

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Seems these HD720P displays are absolute power hogs, they need atleast a 2000mAh battery, many GALAXY Nexus users are also complaining of poor battery life.

Just drain the Battery empty until the phone get off, and than plug the charger 6 hours on than drain the Battery empty until the phone get off, than again charge for another 6 hours and than you will see improvement, this helped me very much and also many other Xperia S owners

Take care, i hope it will come oke with your battery

Nope it didn't help here a bit.
The batt on idle and flight mode behaves very good but when you work with it it's not good.
I wait for SW optimization.

Did try it after or before that the idle behaves very good, thats what also what my happens.

I really feel very sad for you that didn't helped that way, you have sure a faulty Battery, in my case and many other really helped that way.

If you buy a new phone, always drain the battery until the phone go off and than a full charge for at least 6 hours and than one more repeat that. Because it's good for the battery stamina

NO mate.

First - modern batteries don't need any extra calibration.

Secondly stop repeating this sentence.
My battery is fine, it's a bug in a software causing batt drain
reported in many reviews and by very many users on xda and forums.
That is why on idle and flight mode there is almost no drain
and any activity regarding data and screen kills the power.

I just hope they will release fix for this
as well as fix for email app.

Agree with you on this Dom, when I have the phone on flight mode overnight, battery is very good, drains maybe 2 - 3 per cent in 6/7 hours. During the day when cell service is active it drains quickly, screen also drains it, which leads me to believe, like you, they just need to tweak the idle use and maybe adjust the screen brightness a bit better.

X10 and Arc also had battery issues on the first firmware, then SE sorted them later on.

Posted by Arne Anka
Would suggest you install CPU Spy and check how much time it spends in deepsleep. Anything less than say 85% when the phone is not in hevy use suggests there is a SW bug causing battery drain. Otherwise some HW parameter settings may be wrong causing the battery issue. Both issues are however SW upgrade fixable I would guess.

If anyones interested in the UK I ordered this from O2:

£18.50 - 18month 100mb\\50mins
£104 - one off

£110 cashback via quidco

So total cost is £330, beats buying it SIM free. I will use another SIM in it, O2 unlock the phone FOC.

That is my point.
I remember one Arc Fw which was draining the battery like 25% at night.

Can anyone with an Xperia S and a LiveSound headset, tell me what happens when you connect them? I know the S isn't compatible with the headset, but is there a way to make it work, such as only plugging it in three quarters in?

Today I get my XPERIA S for free will have it in an hour

Can't wait

Take a look at this night video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxmdbmK_f1c . I'd say that the quality is really superb! The noise levels are really low and the amount of details is too damn high! Xperia S is gonna kick ass!

Do you think Sony are going to improve the quality of Xperia 2011's cameras with the ICS update? Not that they're bad now, but I'm sure they can do more.

Great phone

bad thing: it has only MTP mode, no USB mass storage.
...and good: modding started

Battery is ok, almost like in Arc

Hmm. Did you win one or upgrade/purchase one already?! Am I mistaken that early int he first 40pages you were VERY critical of this new device? Have you fallen for it already?!

jk ... a agree avatar upgrade time.

please include the Ion mods.

Posted by NightBlade
I was never critical of the device.

I've always liked it.

Aand I haven't received it yet, but this Satio avatar is getting old.

Did you say they said that you would receive it within 30 days? They told me I'd get it in 30 days...

I can't wait 30 days!

As for reviews, this Cnet one really pissed me off. So unbelievably biased, clearly the author is a user of the iPhone and the photo comparison is a joke.
[ This Message was edited by: adsada on 2012-03-18 14:27 ]

Posted by NightBlade
Well they did say within 30 days initially... but now that PM has been deleted and further down the conversation they said "Unfortunately, we can't say that it'll arrive any sooner than 30 days from now"... which is a bit ambiguous.

Posted by adsada
So in other words, the phone will definitely be with us in 30 days, but it may arrive sooner

I wonder what the reasoning behind them not being able to send it straight away is

Posted by NightBlade
True that. I mean, I'd have no problem to just go to their office here in London and pick it up.
Saves them the hassle of sending it.

Maybe this is like an absolute deadline by which we should receive it? You know, in case the winner lives in the Outer Hebrides.
