lost conatct synch ability

hello,
i normally have synching done with my work exchange profile and this has been fine until the last week or so.
i use also for calendar and this works so i know creds and synch are actually good.

i accidentally deleted a contact and thought that's ok as will be synch, but nope.

i have since re-installed s/w using seus and configured accounts and still my phone will not pick up contacts from outlook. again calendar is ok, but not contacts.

help please as am going away for a few days on business and need phone working.
anything anyone suggests is appreciated.
