Just wondering, am I the only one in here who does not want a smart phone? I like classical phone with non-touch screen and with keyboard.

(I use SonyEricsson K610i, but the most beautiful shape/design of mobile phone ever made belongs to Ericsson T68 and SonyEricsson T68i.)

There are a lot of people that don't want smartphones. Nokia's sales figures are proof of that.

My fav non-smartphones are the Elm, Hazel, and Cedar.

The biggest advantage of a non-smartphone is the tactile feedback of being able to type without looking at the phone. And the straight forward ease of use.

I'm not against traditional phones, and it's not like you're losing a lot of functionality either... the Elm can surf, check email, connect to Facebook and is splash/dust proof. All for about US$100.

I loved my T68m... but I preferred the design of the T28s, despite it's limited functions, it was, for me, an extremely beautiful phone.

If I would choose a non smartphone it would be the SE Xperia Pureness.

surely if you are going to carry a device, you want that device to do as much as it can for you.

I guess if you have no interest in internet, photos, videos, gps, apps etc then you don't need a smartphone but surely any/all of these make our lives easier so I'm not sure I understand why you would carry a device not capable of these things.

as for tactile feedback, many smartphones have haptic responses so I'm not sure thats a big advantage

Hey masseur, haptic feedback isn't the same as feeling the actual keys. You still have to look where your thumb is hitting, you can't just feel for the bump on the "5" to know where the keys are. The ability to use the phone with thick gloves is also a big plus... whether it's for cold countries, sport or work gloves. It's for the same reason it's easier to type on an actual keyboard than a tablet touchscreen.

I use mobile phone mainly for calls, less for sms. Sometimes I need mobile internet and I can use my K610i for that. I have made some photos with mobile phone, but it's not important. Also I have converted enough CDs to memory card, but I almost never use mobile phone for listening the music.

I don't like touch-screens. Those screens are getting dirty/greasy/ugly. I want to press buttons and keep a screen clean.

So I prefere small shape classical phone with good battery performance and with classical comfortable keyboard.

I'm really sad that SE recently decided to make only smart phones. They should have given their customers the opportunity to choose!

I thought about getting a 'dumb' phone and a tablet for everything else and even tried for a few days to feel what it's like to not be able to do everything everywhere. After 2 days I gave up and decided that I want an all in one device.

Photos videos gps wi fi internet email etc well the w995 or Aino can do all them things too. I still love and miss the old SE days but times have changed. There are still even smartphones with a keyboard out there like a qwerty keyboard. There are still loads of still brand new older SE phones and others for sale online. But someday stocks will eventually go. I wonder though if SE are going smartphone only i wonder if Nokia or others will?? I would still like an old SE as a spare

Smart + rugged phones have been around for a long time going way back to the Nokia 5500 and even before that.
Rugged Androids:
Motorola DEFY: www.gsmarena.com/motorola_defy-3514.php

Motorola DEFY+: www.gsmarena.com/motorola_defy+-4098.php

All water&dust resistant

and ofcourse the SE Active as said above, there's also a SAMSUNG droid thats like the above, forgot the name though.

Samsung

The Motorola Defy I had that for 3 days. It was supposed to be water & dust resistant to a certain level. Yet after 2 days there was specs of dust under the screen

Was just thinking, how awesome would it be to have a Android smartphone with the P900 design? SE realy should look back at their past creations and try bring their designs.

I havent entered in smartphone arena yet but i am fully agree with hihihans last post. Me too want everything in one. So far my k850i can do everything for me. And may be after few weeks, it will be my back up phone.

I'd prefer an updated version of this one... sans the antenna and as slim as the xperia ray

R380; the true james bond phone I've never seen that phone being sold here have you?

I can identify with the craving for a dumb/feature phone from time to time. For instance, when I want to make a call on my HTC Desire, I first of all have to press a button to wake up the screen, then swipe to unlock it, select the phone function and THEN make the call. With a dumb/feature phone all I do is unlock the screen, and make the call. Of course there are other things I can't quite enjoy with a dumb/feature phone but still sometimes...

Ah yes, the R380 was a great device. I didn't have one because I could not afford it but then Ericsson made true gems. Maybe they should look at how they can revive it as an Xperia "something"?

I think I'd be happier with a Android smartphone ala G900

There are some smartphones in the bar qwerty form-factor.

But there is less design and OS choice now. Too many smartphones looking and feeling very similar to each other, and many of them bulky. I can attest to shaking my head more than once when seeing SE's line-up, along with Nokia's.

Less cool phones with less design choices compared to a few years ago.

But you can still buy smartphones with keyboard and non-touchscreen. Like Nokia's E-Series; so you can have your cake and eat it too, assuming that's what you might want.

The problem is, there are no truly small smartphones, in my opinion. Or very few of them. UI choices are limited too. I will always appreciate tactile feel more than more fragile and less-likeable touchscreens, in my opinion. They are good for some things, but they're not necessarily best for everyone or every situation and they are easier to break.

Now a days, in a busy day to day life, I think it is required to own a smartphone which helps to life easy and work done very fast.
