These riots are stupid. I mean they protest about a man who was shot dead by police. Yet the law has the power to shoot anyone who is a threat and he was carrying a weapon. Now why does everyone kick off about that? The police have one hand tied behind their backs these days with human rights and the like. Human Rights is on the side of the criminal these days. And what gives them the right to rob smash up places and hurt people cos they say there are no jobs or nothing to do? And they will just get a petty slap on the wrist.

I blame the tories

Posted by fluke9
Blame the tories ?????????????????????????

The kids are out of control through lack of discipline, this is why I gave up cabbing in south London, I was fed up waiting to be the next victim.

Posted by Bonovox
Yes very true kids are out of control these days. A good hard long stint in the army will change them and then they will see what tough is. Not that i know. Even if Labour was still in power they were going to make cuts too. So its no excuse rioting about whats going on be it police doing their job or Government cuts. These people use any excuse to cause a riot

I think the shooting is just an excuse for these crooks to abuse the law,and it seems that it may not be PC to say so be it does seems to a certain class and race that is causing the violence and doing the looting if they cared so much about this guy who got shot they could kept the protest peaceful and made a point but instead they hurt 26 police officers 2 of them seriously and burn down homes and property so what does that tell us?

Posted by fluke9
You will never get em in the army, to fecking lazy to do anything other than moan, mug, loot or anything else that gets the free stuff.

This should be seen as a turning point to get the ferrule kids under control, what is the world coming to ????

I get a £60 fine for no seat belt a 4am, targeted at mini cab drivers as they are cracking down apparently, didn't like the fact I stated he was doing such a good job, that it was a shame he was no targeting kids shooting each other, yet the drug carrying kids outside my house get a written street warning ??????????????????????

Happy Days.

People are unhappy with how the government are dealing with the debt, making extremely hard cutbacks. While I'm not for one minute condoning the actions of these vandals, I believe this is the underlying issue. If the government wants to continue on this track without listening to the country, then it's just asking for unhappy people. Though a lot of people involved in the looting are obviously opportunistic seeing a chance to get free stuff.

I wouldn't say it's very fair to blame it on the youth of today, in history this has happened before the Brixton riot of 1981 comes to mind.

Posted by Bonovox
These type of people they don't see sense they think its great to cause anarchy. They think its the norm. One couple said they were threatened by one idiot who said he will burn their house down with them and their baby in it. I as a normal person law abiding would not go around doing this cos i was frustrated about something. Would you?

Posted by fluke9
Yeah I regularly burn down a house cause I'm pi$$ed ov init Bruv.

I used to argue with my father (God Rest His Soul) about how every child should do national service.

I now find myself telling the same thing to my kids.

Posted by adsada
Yeah I really feel sorry for local residents and small shop owners, though the large chains that got looted I couldn't care less...

A vodafone store got raided, what'ya think they'd go for? Probably the iPhones, though maybe a few Sony Ericssons

Posted by fluke9
And they will be useless as the IMEI's will be blocked, could export em I suppose.

Posted by Bonovox
The Sony Ericsson phones are not worth anything

Posted by fluke9
Hahaha.

Anyone watching Sky News or BBC News ???

Posted by Bonovox
Just watching now. Sorry, but they need to get tough with these tossers. Bring out the water canons. Breaking news saying some copy cat rioters in Birmingham have kicked off WTF is going on?? If these are teenagers on their summer holidays then sorry but it's about time they got tough with them. Where are their parents & what type of parents are they

What's needed to stop these animals is to bring out the army and fire rubber bullets with a ZERO tolerance approach to this.

Posted by Bonovox
Yes,that is what I was going to say. But the Government are too bloody soft cos they are teenagers. Sorry, they need a kick AND WHERE IS THE PRIME MINISTER?? On his fecking holidays

Posted by fluke9
Croydon is ablaze, looks like a friends furniture store on Reeves Corner.

Posted by Bonovox
I can see it. This is making me angry seeing this. How come we cannot control these people?? There is going to be a big backlash against this.

Posted by fluke9
To be honest I see race riots if this continues.

Posted by Bonovox
I want to see the government grow some back bone & get tough. These people think they are above the law & that they see the rioting as something they can do because they know nothing will happen to them. Cos this country is not tough enough. I don't care what age they are they need to be kicked up the arse & put the fear of god into them A small number of yobs have smashed up a McDonalds,Jessops store & others in Birmingham now. I know the Jessops store too it's in a nice part of the city centre. Some people have said that they are frustrated cos there are no jobs. Well, let me say this. If I was unemployed for a long time, would I go out & burn down half the city?? No,cos I know it's wrong & I am not like that. Threaten these people with a job & they will soon run.

Clapham Junction 200 odd youth attacking shops one by one.

EDIT:
My daughter is telling me alot of her friends have been using the Blackberry messaging to arrange this looting.

Posted by Bonovox
You see, they are just crazy thugs nothing to do with anything.

Posted by julias
BlackBerry has put out a statement because so much of the looting was organised by BB messenger.

Posted by Bonovox
This is getting bad now a mother with her kids was crying as her house burnt down. Prime Minister is flying home from his holidays. So he bloody should

Posted by fluke9
Chuck em all in prison with no fecking keys.

If I was caught up in it in the car I would run over em and reverse several times.

Posted by jcwhite_uk
These are mostly young lads. What do their parents think they are doing? I am surprised nobody has been killed yet.

Posted by Bonovox
Birmingham city centre 35 arrests but it's calmed down now. Loads of shops damaged including the Orange mobile phone store opposite my old work place. Also Maplins & Jessops When I was young & bored I never did this

Depends on the generation.

Amount of slaps, pokes, pinch with twist I suffered over the years by Police let alone a few kickings in the cells after a night on the lash.

Probably give you a cuppa and a nice slice of cake now

First the stock markets crash and now these riots is this the becoming of the end?

Posted by Bonovox
Oh for gods sake don't say such stupid comments. Riots & markets crashes have happened before Youth riots have happened in Paris,Denmark,Sweden & Holland & many others,it happens everywhere. I have read about many places having this happen. My city where it has kicked off.

Don't be so quick to call me stupid when you have no clue about what tomorrow may bring?the worlds largest economy has just been brought down to its knees because of this crash and it will have a snowball effect worldwide affecting business, jobs and general life and could lead to much worse and these riots will seem like nothing.

Goodness i just keep switching between BBC, CNN and SkyNews, what on earth started all this?
Here in South Africa we have many strikes, as a matter of fact we just sort of came out of a "strike season", and even ours havent been this bad, except when a policeman killed an innocent man by firing a rubber bullet at point-blank range at him earlier this year, they never get this bad, as someone said earlier, shocked nobody has been killed.

Looks like a bunch of ill mannered kids in need of a major ass whiping, what exactly is the point to their protesting?

Posted by hihihans
In fact it's the same situation as is France two years ago. All frustrations come out. Lit by a 'small' incident. In France it took a few weeks to calm down. England always had better hooligans so this ain't over yet.
BTW Olympics are only one year away.

Posted by Tsepz_GP
They must give the Olympics to us now! We'll do 'em like we did the soccer world cup ,UK has plenty of money, they dont need the Olympics lol.

Posted by hihihans
I don't think everyone will agree on that. Did S.A. make money out of the WK? I'm surprised.

Who gives a stuff about the Olympics anyway. We will be paying it off for years to come. In Birmingham last night 4 mobile phone shops were raided as well as many other stores. Richer Sounds was also broken into and teenagers were walking down the road with flat screen tv sets in their hands and putting them into cars. But the mistake they made was the car registrations were clearly seen on cctv. Talk about as thick as thieves. This all started cos a known trouble maker in London was shot by police. They get upset cos he was ONE OF THEIRS. Oh what a shame. Sorry but at the end of the day police have the power to shoot anyone brandishing a weapon in public who is a threat which he was doing. All the riots kicked off after what started out as a peaceful protest about it. Opportunist young thugs who are from the Playstation era who never get out much or have much. They see this on tv and think yeah lets make the most of this opportunity by started riots. These kids were not brought up they were dragged up by parents who are not fit to be parents. Where were the parents? Kids are young as 13 joining in. This is shameful and sorry but they need to be tough. Someone said the police cannot get away with shooting anyone at random. Duh he was not just anyone or at random. And the police are the law. Duh dumb ass. It will die down soon it always does. But these kids have no sense of even what they are doing. Even some teenage girls were involved too as i seen on tv laughing aswell like its a big game. Now i was brought up better than that and i know that what they do is wrong. I don't give a stuff what happened it does not give anyone any excuse or the right to do what they do. What type of parent has a kid like that?? If i have a grievance with the police or government do i go out and act like that? No. Cos i was brought up better than that. Some do it cos they are bored. I never did that as a kid when i was bored. Kids don't know their born today walking around with expensive mobiles and such gadgets. When i was younger(god i sound old) i never had stuff as expensive as that. And where do they get the money for an iphone or Blackberry if their so poor? Robbed no wonder. And please don't start saying oh they got nothing cos thats bull. They blame the government cos they got nothing to do. They blame everyone else for their misfortune in life. Life is what YOU make it regardless of background. Many successful people came from humble beginings. All this stems from many things but no matter what it is there is no excuse for this.

Gave our economy a R38Billion boost, thats around €3.5billion Euro, and has left quite a legacy: http://www.guardian.co.uk/foo[....]12/south-africa-world-cup-2010

Since then we've also been invaded by HollyWood, around 3-4 big movies starring Halle Berry, Ryan Reynolds, Ryan Phillipe, Denzel Washington etc...have just finished earlier this year, with a flood of many more still in production all over the country, tourism took quite a boost, huge business deals have come through, two of the biggest being Wal-Mart coming in and Barclays with ABSA, it just continues to pay-off.

Back to the topic...

I can see why you're mad Bono, these kids clearly didn't have proper guidance in life, watching some of the SkyNews footage recorded by a Sky journalist on his iPhone, i saw some REALLY young hooligans, some look around 13yrs old, and apparently one told the journalist that by vandilising all that property they are getting their taxes back ooookay, i can totaly see how ruining the very places that contibute to the economy will pay back your supposed "taxes"
[ This Message was edited by: Tsepz_GP on 2011-08-09 09:38 ]

Posted by Bonovox
And these youths have never paid taxes. There is a complete lack of respect these days and what is to blame? Politically correct do gooders who throw out this human rights saying to kids that they have rights. The kids then abuse that and mis read it thinking they can do as they wish. Police have their hands tied cos kids say I KNOW MY RIGHTS YOU CANNOT TOUCH ME. Or teachers stupidly being told they cannot disipline kids in school. They run riot. I have never know kids act like this it is worrying. People here are already taking a stand saying they may be protesting against this in a peaceful way. And ordinary members of the public cleaning up helping out. You see Britain does have the majority of good people who stand together to stop this. Its a minority. England v Holland friendly match tomorrow is now called off. They need the police.

They should throw these people out the country drop em on a rubber dingy in the middle of the ocean. That is sick what he did they have no feeling at all People are now gathering from the general public in Birmingham now helping clearing up the mess. The decent people out there. We should all start a social media rally for the good people to march against this.

I agree if the thugs can arrange looting sprees via twitter and BB then surely the good people can do the the same to stand against this.

Posted by Bonovox
Yes and i would join in the rally. Eventually they will not succeed. Over 100 youths arrested already in Birmingham and the goods they stole found. They are just greedy bastards imo they don't wanna work for their things. Give them a job and they will run a mile. Sorry i called you stupid yesterday mate Just showed Birmingham on Sky News and some of it happened near where i work.

That's very good, in London the police were only at 6000 now its 16,000 from today so more of these crooks will be locked up. I have a better punishment in mind for these thugs ship them all off to the front line in Iraq and Afghanistan and let them do some proper work for once at least we will make some good use of them.

No worry's mate its one of those topics emotions are running high.

Good. Last thing we want is everyone fighting. They think they are big and hard but they will realise they are not if sent to Iraq. Its now 133 arrested in Birmingham and parliament is to be recalled on Thursday. I got a Nokia E6 arriving today and gotta pop into town later. Will get some pics if i can of damaged shops. Phones4U T Mobile Orange Carphone stores as well as Armani stores sports stores cash points all looted. Years ago you feared the police but now youngsters seem to not fear them cos we as a nation are too soft on criminals

Scum of the earth! I hope they catch them.

They are saying copy cat trouble has spread to Bristol,Liverpool and Leeds scum like that in that video what right do they think they have to do that? Makes my blood boil. Some radio station here last night gave a young female teenager air time. Why? She said we have to do this cos the police are locking up our family members and picking on us. Er well there must be a reason why they are locking up your brother or sister. And some of them just hate the police cos they love trouble.
