I have had the opportunity to download the Opera browser and played with it this morning. It is truly a great browser. Fast and allows of true surfing capabilities. The format is fantastic, you can dowload pages beautifully and they download on a single screen so no need to scroll left or right.

if you ahve a P800 download it. its worth it.

Posted by Epedemic
and where exactly should we download it from?

Posted by contaygious
YEAH WHERE?

Posted by 619
is it for P800?

Posted by arnoldc
the news about opera (and where to download) is on the front page of esato - http://www.esato.com/news/article.php?id=33

Well i just got lucky and happened to be on another forum when it got posted and I was able to download it. However, prior to my post i checked to see if it was still a viable link and it was not.

It is for P800, however the people who posted it were not sure whether it would be teh final release version publicly avaialbe on the 17.

I love the Opera browser but now I have to up my Mb plan.

Opera is not THAt great. I can't even figure out how to edit bookmarks. Or add bookmarks without going to the site first as well.

Yup, it's great but not THAT great. You can't right click to save image as well. You also can't see in anyway the URL of the page you're looking at. Maybe these will come with the next version.

I'm keeping my default browser right now.

HI I have downloaded the Opera browser, but am a little stuck as to how I configure it. I cannot get it to connect to the net. Any ideas?

Dave

I can't save images!
This sucks!

Other than that it's ok.

Posted by mattiasj
Yeah, the browser itself is AWESOME, but it is really lacking feature- wise. How the heck do I remove bookmarks, for example? I think it should at least provide the same fuctionality set as the built-in browser.

When I use Opera I dont get the internet connection icon (little globe) on the status bar as with built-in browser and maim apps. Is this normal?

Posted by sintax
Hi, I downloaded it from ericsson. On my P800 it does not work, the pages are not displayed, however the internal browser displays it correctly. Any ideas? Sintax

@mattiasj

To remove a bookmark in Opera, just click on the green flag next to your link description and then click delete.

This message was posted from a P800

You are right. That may be the case since it actually isnt a WAP browser and will not display wap pages. You r also unable to save images from the browser:(

Is the in the cradle? If it is it uses your computers internet connection(and the little globe won't show)...

Ahh! Yes it was in the cradle, I had just installed it. Thanks for clearing that up!

@WoeDee

You can view WAP pages with Opera. Navigate to wap.esato.com and see what happends.

Posted by PiotrMmX
Laffen-right You are but only using APN that allows HTML access(i mean full internet) but not trough WAP access point... That's the reason I don't use it. Try to go to www.esato.com-with a builtin browser and using wap access point! The esato.com uses javascript and the built in browser shows it to me! The main reason fr me tha I use wap is a free access to it and gprs internet access is very expensive!Regards! Peter.

Installed Opera this morning and liked it's support for frames etc but after a few minutes of browsing sites it crashed the phone, had to rip out the battery to recover the phone. If it happens again I'm taking it off but for the moment I'm happy with it.

Cheers
Matt

I think it's already been discussed here, but if your phone locks up it's always better to perform a soft reset by holding in the power button for 10 seconds than to take out the battery.

I have never experienced any situation where the power button held down for 10 seconds didn't successfully switch off the phone so it could be rebooted.

Posted by robpow
I did do both a normal power off and the 10 sec press, both worked but when I turned it back on again it was just sitting there with a blank screen. I had to whip out the battery to get it back to life again, maybe it was coincidence but I did try the normal ways four or five times first... I really like the P800 but am worried that buggy software can crash the whole phone.

Hi guys! I installed opera in my p800 and I can't seem to get it working. I can surf using the built-in browser but opera can't connect to the remote server. Does it need any configuring? Please help! Thanks!

Posted by weneklek
how can i remove all the url's I entered when I open web pages then click the drop down button? pls help

Posted by nils7
It is great! With the normal browser my mobilephone website (WAP) is in black and white the Opera shows it in Colour!

Posted by aZooZa
How go you get Opera to use a dialup account and not GPRS? I don't see any option to change connection method? Thanks

Posted by arroyootje
It doesn't work on my Orange connection over gprs, only with dial up... why is this? Same with Tipic or Justyak....
