Well it is when on standby just running background stuff. I also kill alot of the pointless running background apps. But it's also about that much on boot up too. I am normally the type to just run about 3 apps at the most at once nothing more. Am never ever that low on ram. Will show you later on screen shot

Just updated my ray. Kinda annoying that I still needed the PC Companion to do so. I'm running mostly Macs now and had to dig up my old Thinkpad just to update.

I thought they were implementing on-device updates already? Oh well... let's hope ICS does away with the PC reliance all together.

Mine is worst than that.
I have facebook messenger, Whatsapp, couple of widgets plus some preinstalled idiot apps.
It is annoying really.

Posted by Bonovox
Ah well, I don't use tham apps I think they slow the phone down I just use the browser for Face Book & such things. Face Book Inside Xperia is shit. It's slow. Messenger is ok though. Don't like What's App either takes up too much RAM. Here is mine on standby with just background apps running like standard Android or stuff on. I just tend to use 2 to 3 apps at once like net, music & email.

Ray is improving!

Cheers!

Some udates require PC while others just OTA. It probably depends on what part of the software that
needs to be updated whether PC or OTA can be used-.

Then you shall try "SE Bridge For Mac". It will soon support SW update from Mac as well.

Yea but Chrome is only for ICS though. Got to wait a little longer for us to be able to use it.

Posted by Bonovox
Oh crap I never realised that

Posted by mediar
I have a question about the firmware updating procedure - should my battery be full ( 100% ) before updating or that doesn't matter?

Posted by Bonovox
As long as batter is over 30%. I had to charge my battery to at least 30%

Posted by OffLineR
I had %20 battery at the last update.
I though I should charge it before the update than I forgot
Over %30 will be sufficient enough.
But for the ICS update I'll have %50 at least
It might take longer than a regular update.

Posted by mediar
Well, I had 85% and everything went well.

I turned the Mobile Data and Wifi off, the screen brightness is 50% and after the first 24hours with some minimal use I still have 72% left.

Posted by Bonovox
I am pleased with my Ray second time around no problems at all. And it's also really coming down in price like the Arc S recently was £229 in Phones4U. The Ray is now £179 also in Phones4U

Posted by Rookwise
Cheaper than cpw then.

Posted by Bonovox
Yes,I spent £250 on mine but the Arc S seems to have vanished

Anyone with Mini and Ray? is Mini screen wider then ray?? or the same dimeonsios? i want to buy one, i have mini (st15) and screen is not so good for typing in qwerty portrait mode

Posted by OffLineR
@Vipera ammodytes
It is difficult to use full qwerty on XRay as well but landscape is quite comfortable.

BTW, I have installed GTA III: 10th Anniversary the other day.
It is awesome.
Here is a couple of screen shots:

Did anybody found player that is able to play 720p mkv files smoothly? I've tried MX, BS and mobo player, on all of them video looks like it is 15 fps.

Posted by tai020381
Tried vplayer?

Posted by bronxdude
will we get the clear bass and the new music player when we get the ICS update?

Tried it too, and rock player, it is same.

Posted by Bonovox
As I now have an Arc S which I love I now have a spare white battery cover for Ray. It came today from an order weeks ago from China. Still in packaging if anyone wants it no charge

Have you tried QQplayer?

Posted by emporium
I've just tried it, same problem. Looks like phone's HW is not strong enough, it plays mp4 fine, so should mkv also.
By the way 4.0.2.A.0.69 (Generic Trade Germany) is available via wotan server. Nothing new except some apps for german market, and huge bug, screen often stays illuminated when not touching it.

Dice player is what you are looking for, its hardware accelerated so it can play up to 720p with ease

What is going to be your next phone?
I love the form factor of Ray.
Sony doesn't seems to bring another one that looks like XRay

Posted by Rookwise
I replaced my Xray nearly 2 weeks ago with a white Samsung Galaxy S2. The Ray has since been sold on ebay for a really good price. Have to say Im as happy with the gs2 as much as i was my X10 which i also still have. Both phones are keepers imo.

Posted by emporium
Dice player also don't play well.

@Rookwise
Doesn't S2 feels bulky after ray?

Posted by Rookwise
Not at all. Handling the sgs2 is much better than the ray. Its more comfortable to hold in the hand dispite its bigger size and its as thin as the ray also.
I also preferred my X10 over the ray as well even though the ray was the better of the two.

Posted by OffLineR
After using Ray about 6 months I can never think of going back to X10.
I love X10 but it is too heavy and bulky for my taste.

I like the compact size of Ray.

For the sgs2, It feels quite light despite it's looks.

It is getting more and more difficult to choose a phone in these days

They make a great combo dont they? Also have my X10 along with my GS2, just couldnt get rid of the X10 partly because it was my 1st Android.

Couldn't agree more. Bought myself a Xperia ray a week ago, loving it so far.

Same here. The X10 was my first Android phone as well

My ray doesn't send/receive MMS, internet works fine, settings are from my provider, background data and data trafic are enabled, phone is not locked and has generic sw, SIM in another phone can receive messages. Any suggestions?

Posted by Rookwise
Got to access points and select the mms profile your using. Check that the apn type says mms.
Some settings combine the data and mms profiles together so if that's the case. Check that all the required info is filled in and again check the apn type. It should say something like default, supl, mms

Posted by emporium
Works now, i did not made any changes, seems like it's being something up to network.

Posted by OffLineR
Is everyone as happy as I am by using this phone?

Since no one make any comments and complaints I assume we are all happy.

Posted by bluke424
Happy with mine as well, I guess we're all waiting for the 4.0 update.

Posted by OffLineR
That will be fun to play with.
I don't need it though

Posted by myavu
The only worry is that, after updating to 4.0 if it is not satisfying as 2.3.4 is it possible to revert?

Posted by bluke424
You should be able to flash a 2.3.4 ROM, but I don't see why you would want to go back, 4.0.3 seems nice and smooth and also brings new features.

Not cool, it looks like the X10 fiasco.

As far as my favorite apps supported in GB, I will not update to ICS.
ICS brings nothing special for me
