ELM Camera Modding - New Driver Here!!!

I am facing a lot of problems trying to mod the Elm's camera.
First of all Plummy Elm/Hazel hangs the phone when taking complex pics but I think I resolved that problem.
My greatest wish is to implement features like Image Stabilization in the phone cam driver but how do I make the option appear in the menu? I've tried everything but the option still will not show.
For Ex. : There is Burst Mode activated by default in the driver but no option in the menu. How do I make it appear?

I do not want to hear that "I can't" or "Not possible", that does not work for me, anything is possible if you really want it.
I am curious as to why aren't there any mods available for this cam driver, the Elm™ can be a very capable shooter (as we have seen in some other posts here), still all this ignorance is making me mad.

EDIT : Well, after many hours of testing (and testing ... and testing...) I can say that I've managed to get good results in modding the Elm's Cam Driver. Based on "Camdriver 07.08.2010 Plummy Elm / Hazel by Quasar84" (so some of the credits go to him) but without the freezing issues and with better low light pics. here it is -MFire's Elm™ Cam Mod-
Since I made a Cyber-shot like menu using Photoshop (thank god for this GR8 program, I love it for 10 years now), you might consider replacing the standard icons with the ones I've made, using SE Image Tool (credit to the author), so I've attached those as well.

Sample menu :

Cam Driver and icons Here : MFire's Elm™ Cam Mod

PLEASE DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT UPLOAD THESE ANYWHERE ELSE!!!
PLEASE POST FEEDBACK.ENJOY.

Sample Cam. pics. : 1. Very Low Light

2. Macro

EDIT: Attempt to fix reported freeze issues, new driver here MFire's Elm™ Cam Mod Ver.2

Lol look who we have here!

"anything is possible if you really want it" I don't think so.

Posted by MFire
LOL!!!
Can't get rid of you even here...

Noticed there are no more intresting posts on se-nse, I alone went a looong way modding my Elm and about this post I am close, just found the burst mode option in Zylo's camera (ISX005) so it's a problem of transfering the code to ISX006.

Oh and about "anything is possible if you really want it" - I've been applying that all my life and got very far on my own, you should try it sometime.

FIRST POST UPDATED, CAM DRIVER LINKED

Posted by reeflotz
Hi MFire, I tried your cameradriver, I also appreciate your hard work in trying to develop Elm's Cameradriver, I wish I could help you but I really don't understand anything about those codes in the cameradriver .

anyway here's some comparison lowlight shots for now: my phone is Hazel

Original Camdrive
All Auto Flash off

-MFire's Elm™ Cam Mod-
All Auto Flash off

Original Camdrive
All Auto Flash on

-MFire's Elm™ Cam Mod-
All Auto Flash on

Original Camdrive
All Auto ev+1

-MFire's Elm™ Cam Mod-
All Auto ev+1

Original Camdrive
Twilight

-MFire's Elm™ Cam Mod-
Twilight

So far in my opinion the modded camera driver has:

better twilight mode (better color and warmer than the original camdrive)
focuses faster
larger picture file size

unfortunately the modded camera driver shows the lines much more than the original in auto flash off settings .

but still great job I appreciate your effort, I'm gonna try some daylight pics tomorrow.

THNX reeflotz, wish there were more like you to post some very needed feedback, I will eagerly await your daylight photos. Gr8 feedback.

here's the daylight pics:

all are auto settings

Daylight pics have almost the same amount of resolved details whether modded or original. Modded ones have larger filesize, a little warmer and brighter which is good, I find the pics taken by the original one a little too cold and dark sometimes. Modded one is better.

But there's a bug in the modded driver, when there is a lot of light or strong lighting the camera fails to save the picture and freezes. Happened to me twice, had to remove/reinsert my battery to restart the phone.

This is taken using the original camdrive, when I use the modded one it freezes when taking this picture.

OMFG I thought I fixed that, wtf, edited first post please try the new driver, hopefully this issue is now fixed.

Your feedback is really helpful, keep it up...

I noticed that the driver used in Elm has few lines of code compared to that of Hazel, also there are a few settings witch differ.

I will be making 2 different versions once I get rid (and hopefully I did) of the freezing issues.
Till then I NEED FEEDBACK PEOPLE PLEASE,
YOU'RE DOING THIS FOR YOUR OWN GOOD...

oh, so Elm's camdrive has a slight difference over Hazel? might be the reason why mine froze cause I'm using Hazel. But I've been using Elm's original ver 3.9 camdrive before and have had no problems. Anyway I'm looking forward to your new camdrive I haven't tested ver. 2 of your camdrive yet, been busy today, I'll try tomorrow.

Posted by MFire
[*] I'm really interested to know if there are any more bugs, I will test myself but it's nice to have a person with Hazel to test it. Thnx man for all your feedback

We'll make the perfect one yet

Posted by reeflotz
ok here's some of my tests on bright afternoon sunlight (around 2:30pm) on my first try the phone froze. On my second try it worked.

All Auto

Original Camdrive

-MFire's Elm™ Cam Mod- ver. 2

There's a bug when using snow settings

Snow Setting
-MFire's Elm™ Cam Mod- ver. 2

I took 2 photos using snow settings both of them ended up like that.

NEW!!! - DRIVERS FOR ELM AND HAZEL - Please test and report back any eventual issues.

FIRST POST UPDATED

Posted by reeflotz
I've just tested the Hazel Driver, so far no bugs

here's some samples:

the reds are pinkish, is there any way to make them more red?

Brown color is correct on daylight.

overall the driver is great!

EDIT:

Lowlight pics are the same as the ones before, lines start to appear at ISO higher than 160. Camera froze once when I tried taking lowlight at ev+2.0 but tried again and it worked fine.

may i ask.. coz i'm still a newbie in phones file uploader.. which software can i use to upload these files to my Hazel? can someone link it here with guides? thanks~

Posted by felinglcc
i've successfully installed the right farmanager and connected my hazel.. but it was a red cert.. may i ask where to put the camera driver? and the icons? thanks~

Posted by reeflotz
I don't know how to use the icons, but for the camera driver place it in a folder structure:

ifs\settings\camera\camdriver0.dat

then flash it to the phone. I use Omnius to flash the camdrive to my Hazel.

THE ONLY FREEWAY TO CHANGE YOUR CAMDRIVERS IS THIS ONE FAR 2 +cxc patcher +sefp2 (do cid81) AND NOT THE OMINUS. DOWNLOAD IT AND GOOD LUCK

Posted by ejik_trupoed

5mp/auto
I think this bug appearing because of small buffer size or compression bug, same pic in 3mp/auto - good, but filesize is 1,68mb - much larger than average 3mp photos

some photos are more greenish than they must be -

But the driver is much better than other Elm drivers - THX MAN

some other pics

thanks reeflotz and kyriakos001 for the helpful replies~ ^^,

it is free flashing your phone using omnius as long as it is A2 DB3xxx platform. READ HERE. It works on my Hazel.

I've been flashing my phone for free using omnius.

Unfortunately I don't have an Elm anymore , I have an Aino now .

Still I will try to get all the issues and the bugs sorted for you provided you will give me feedback as I don't have an Elm to test anymore.

As for uploading the cam driver to the file system why Omnius? Use FAR Manager + SEFP2 plugin.
See tutorial here ar-manager-plugin-sefp-2

Posted by reeflotz
I already got used to using omnius, which is why I use it, but like you said you can flash it too using far+sefp2.

Posted by kyriakos001
Using OMINUS can't upload camdrivers. It's only for flash, unlock, debrand.

and it is through flash that you can upload the camdrive using omnius. you simply zip it in a folder structure ifs\settings\camera\camdriver0.dat then flash using omnius.

how else do you think I was able to post here multiple tests of the camdriver if omnius didn't work for me?

here's a link on how to upload files using Omnius: Omnius General Usage. read the last part Writing Files

I also used omnius to upload acoustics on my Hazel.

Well, 'mfire' I would like to help you out in your quest for developing that driver. I have a 'HAZEL'. But, Elm & Hazel are alike in every aspect. So, I believe that there shouldn't be much problem with testing this driver on this as well.
There are not many modders for these handsets. Even though they are quite capable handsets. But, no modder seems to have them. It would be great if you could spare some time developing good cam driver for these mobile phones.
