Bonovox, would the extended battery rule out a Zagg Body shield covering the phone? What would you be using to protect your phone?

I rather use a zagg as I don't like large armour like protectors making phone seems much larger than they are.
Thanks.

At the moment I am using a clear silicon case. It does not spoil it so much as I can still see the white body. As for the extended battery it adds a mere 1.5 mm to the overall thickness. It also recesses the camera lens more to protect it too. Mine should arrive next week now. The stock battery is actually pretty good anyway & yesterday after a full charge the night before I got past midnight last night before it started to beep at me telling me battery was low. So looking forward to using the extended one. Especially when I do go travelling sometimes with my brother in the car & take alot of photos or videos & use some GPS. Another thing I have noted is some people said the call quality was too quiet in the ear piece. It must have been early versions cos the one in mine is loud & clear even on a busy street. nice one guys, really good review and video!

definite purchase if work come through with the S2...

Posted by 2slow
just upgraded to 2.3.5, I am noticing battery life to be much better than on 2.3.3. Will need more time to do day to day usage testing.

Congrats Bono
That's looking really great in white colour.

How much did you pay for it?

Awesome!!!!!!!!!!! Not a hint of lag slow down nothing!! It's nice to have all that power in your hands the speed, the ram & features!! I love it & for once am happy That takes some doing for me Yes,it comes with a spare battery cover in the right colour. Here is the one I ordered but it's out of stock mine is on back order.

It does not make it much thicker. Defiantely glad I chose this handset but I hate the black one it's horrible so glad I have white!! The camera quality is really great. I have invested in mine with insurance, new clear silicon case not to damage that lens & now waiting for extended battery!!

Ah well i signed my life away to it i liked it so much. Am back in a renewed contract and have vowed to stay with this for sometime now. I really do like it but hated it first time around the black version is not so nice. Awesome device and no issues with it.

Bonovox Glad you enjoying it.Saw some Youtube reviews and I must say Im impressed with the speed of that phone.Quite a zippy bugger.

Nice bonovox, nice!

Posted by Bonovox
The plastic on the white version feels and looks nicer than the black one. And no finger prints showing except the screen. Only thing i don't like but its not so bad is if you turn the screen at an angle there is a blue ish tint. But i never need to view my screen at such angles unless i was taking a photo at a high angle. Its only slight aswell

love my gs2...just using it is a pleasure...

Posted by idumbakumar
when u place the phone on a surface it never gonna miss the scratches on the camera optics.. too bad design .. its prominently projected from the body.. i dont think SII has the catchy design

congrats bono.. u got ur favourite color..i dont think u let ur wife use the phone.

Posted by Bonovox
Wife?? Me not married. As for the camera lens getting scratched using a case or whatever will prevent this. Also buying the extended battery actually makes the camera lens more recessed so it's not flush with the battery cover. That way it's protected.

Posted by buntoo
@Bono, Good to know that you're happy with your new device

I'm still using SGS I. Wanted to buy SGSII, but after seeing it in a mobile market i changed my mind. I'm happy with my SGS
And if i change , Nexus Prime or Galaxy Note will my next phone.

Posted by skblakee
Now Buntoo, if you wait to long you might end up getting the SGSIII.

Posted by Bonovox
The flash on the GS2 is the brightest LED flash I have seen so far!! The best next to a Xenon. Anyway,I can only imagine what the next Galaxy S III will be like

Posted by Caspa
Cant wait to get mine!

@idumbakumar - Yeah, extended battery sorts that problem, def gonna invest...

@jj03 - Thats what I like to hear mate...

@all - It is the daddy, no doubt... So everyone on stock or rocking a ROM? Started checking out whats about now and its a difficult choice... Not sure yet...

Posted by jj03
i'm on 2.3.5. with rooted ki3 kernal. smooth as now dual cores are being utilized...

Posted by Bonovox
Lucky you but I am still on 2.3.3 cos I have a T Mobile branded one & they have not released their update yet Never mind had no issues with anyway. @idumbakumar most of the smart phones released now seem to have zero lens protection but with a case or the extended battery it does protect it. The extended battery makes the back cover stick out a further 1.5mm there for recessing the lens more

Very impressed with 2.3.5 FW, battery life has significantly improved over 2.3.3

16 hours and I still have 71%, some light surfing, email and Facebook.

@caspa and bono,

i'd recommend rooting and using titanium backup free and getting rid of the bloatwate...such as fota update which randomly starts up and is a drain on battery life along with things like the social/music hubs...

Posted by Caspa
Yeah, def root and remove bloatware...

BUT...

I'm getting the Galaxy Nexus instead... Boss has decided on that and I aint complaining! Just gotta wait for it to be released!

Looks like I'll be rocking 4.0!

Posted by Bonovox
All that rooting stuff confuses me.

Posted by rikken
Have a root beer instead

Just checked on Android Roms website. Orange,Three & Vodafone all have the 2.3.5 update. But not T Mobile yet

Posted by skblakee
Okay I can't post in the forum that details the new phone avatars so I am posting here as having the first GSII avatar. A good move by Laffen.

Posted by laffen
@skblakee
Congratulations! You are the first with a GSII, and the second or third with a non- avatar. masseur got an iPhone last week when he suggested to add more avatar models to the forum

Posted by Hobbs
Bonovox Rooting and rom changing at first is daunting but once you've done it a couple of times it pretty simple. Its nice having a variety when you get a bit bored with your phone. But I'm talking from a X10 point of view where you need to experiment with the different roms out there to get the best out of your phone.Saw some YouTube videos of the SII and it looks a pretty complete unit.No need to tinkle with it but if I had one I'd most probably be in XDA making it even better.

Posted by Bonovox
Yes that's great thanks Laffen & masseur for new Avatars

Posted by masseur
nothing really to do with me. once decided to go their own ways and people started asking for non avatars I knew it was time for me to ask for one myself as I didn't want to get any special treatment before that.
Lets hope this doesn't make too much work for laffen

Posted by Bonovox
I just tried to change my avatar 4 times but it won't change to Samsung GS2

Posted by laffen
@Bonovox
We should head over to the Where are the avatars? thread for further avatar discussion

Posted by skblakee
Thanks Laffen. Back to the GSII now.

Posted by Bonovox
I checked Android Roms website again. Still nothing for the T Mobile update but T Mobile have said it should be very soon and that T Mobile future updates for the GS2 are definately to get Ice Cream Sandwich. Though one woman at T Mobile did not understand me when asking about the Android update. She said oh yes you can download it from Android Market. Oh dear.

Posted by skblakee
See it here but as a Modded Rom Ice Cream Sandwich for GSII

Posted by Bonovox
Oh cool thanks

Posted by rikken
Nice

A comparison test

Posted by jj03
its all relative, test wise, but the gs2 takes fantastic pics and video which will improve further with the release of ics...

Posted by Bonovox
Yes it does even night shots

Original
I cannot believe they got such poor shot at night with their comparison on the GS2. Yet I can get much different

Posted by Caspa
Was playing with my mates on Saturday and they are bloody fantastic... In truth, I'd be happy with an S2 or a G-Nexus...
