I have downloaded the files since Sunday but just have not had the time to install yet. Let me know how it goes. Also this would be my first time installing a ROM this way so I wanted to be certain.

Hobbs right after I responded you message changed. LOL

Sorry about removing my last post. Was reading all the posts in that Resurrection Remix thread and decided to cancel my download.Doesnt sound to me like its bug free yet and I have a perfectly working stock rom now so it would be stupid to replace it with a buggy rom.
And the problem with Resurrection Remix is today you install the v1.0 Pro rom and next week you have to do it all over again with lets say v2.0.Hes very trigger happy and not the most patient developer.

Gonna wait for Checkrom ICS.Those guys only release their rom when its finished and been properly baked.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

anyone with ics-can you access the notifacation dropdown bar when on the lockscreen-i updated to ics on o2 uk and can access the notifications and icons when the screen is locked.

Posted by skblakee
Hobbs I won't bother with updating to Resurrection Pro. I finally got a download of ICS Poland version. Will go with that for now.

Posted by Hobbs
Slide unlock has no security so you can access your notification bar.

Just flashed Resurrection Remix ICS v.1.0 and the Siyah 3.0 kernel on my S2.
Will test and let you know how it is.
If you going to do it make sure you read all the instructions properly because after installing it I tried to get into CMW Recovery and found myself in the Android Stock Recovery.

(On 1st page of Resurrection Remix thread after ROM installation instructions)
NOTE: İF YOU WANT FLASH SOMETHİNG FROM CWM RECOVERY FİRST YOU MUST İNSTALL CWM.ZİP FROM STOCK RECOVERY MOD(APPLY UPDATE FROM EXTERNAL STORAGE AND CHOOSE CWM.ZİP AND İNSTALL)
AND NOW TOUCH RECOVERY MODE WİLL APPEAR THAN YOU CAN FLASH ZİP FİLES

You then gotta flash the CMW.zip in the Android Stock Recovery from your external SD card which then switches into a Touch CMW Recovery instead of using the hardware keys to navigate.
It all got a little confusing for me because I didnt read the instructions (thought my CMW Recovery would still be there after the install).
Everythings cool now because after installing the Siyah kernel CMW Recovery is back in action.

Posted by skblakee
I have read the instructions several times and somehow I still think that I have missed something. I have not tried to install it though.
I am going to stay with my current ROM for a while.

Let me know how it goes.

Been on Resurrection Remix Pro v.1.0 now for a week without any complaints.Guess what, hes just released Remix Pro v1.1.This developer drives me nuts.

Posted by Hobbs
Been using the Resurrection Remix ICS PRO v 1.1 now for 3 days and it is a really good rom.(whatever you read on that thread take with a pinch of salt.Half those people don't know what the hell they are doing and therefor are left with a big fat mess.) I've had zero problems.

After installing Siyahs latest v3.0rc2+ kernel I'm also getting really good benchmarks with Quadrant.

@Hobbs
how does it compare to CHECKROM revo Hd? I haven't upgraded to ics yet as I don't want to risk losing the speed and smoothness of this rom

Posted by Rookwise
Does anyone know where I can get the unbranded UK (XEU) ICS firmware from ? Kies is still telling me I've got the latest UK firmware. My sgs2 is still on 2.3.4. Have looked on samobile and xda but can't find anything.

Posted by lemmy31
It would appear that XEU sim free handsets will be back of the queue

http://crave.cnet.co.uk/mobil[....]t-ics-samsung-admits-50007550/

never thought branded handsets would get updates first

It's been a while since I've used the Checkrom Revo HD so I'm finding it a bit hard to compare. Why don't you CWM backup your Checkrom rom and give Resurrection a tryout. If you don't like it,restore.

@lemmy. Cheers matey. AFAIK its had already been released. That clears a few things up

I'm on HyDrOG3N-ICS now. Android 4.0.4.

They fixed 1080p video recording and now everything is perfect, especially the battery life. Personally, I find it much more efficient and definately faster than stock ICS. Would recommend to anyone. Two downsides (not to me): FM Radio and MHL aren't implemented.

Posted by Hobbs
Backing up my Resurrection rom and busy downloading the HyDrOG3n ICS 4.0.4.Just watched a YouTube Video on it and what has sold me into trying it is the ROM Control in Settings.
Let you know what I think of it.

Wheres the fancy task manager when holding down your home hardware key????????

Fixed ROM Control => Navigation bar => "Long press home action" => Show recent.

So far so good.

Love the new camera layout taken from the Galaxy Nexus.Very cool.

Another cool find. You can change the dpi from ROM Control.

[ This Message was edited by: Hobbs on 2012-04-05 16:26 ]

Posted by Hobbs
You can also set your CPU with ROM Control>Tools>Performance.(Overclock 1600MHZ/Underclock 100MHz/Scaling Governor/Voltage Control/Set At Boot) Pretty much SetCPU built inhouse.

Wonder if this one is the real one??

Have to admit it was nice downloading a rom that was a measly 97mb (another 50+mbs for the GApps) compared to the 330mb monster Samsung ROM's.

Bonovox

Im so dizzy from all the different Galaxy 3 leaks that I think its best just to wait for the 'real thing' to get released before i do any oo-ing and ah-ing.

If it looks anything like that phone in the pic then all I can say is

Unfortunity even with all the bells and whistles this HyDrOG3n ICS 4.0.4 ROM aint cutting it.After using Resurrection Remix PRO v1.1 it just feels sooooo heavy in comparison.Switching back. There are some nice touches on this ROM but I think overall it still needs a bit of work to compete with Wescrips Resurrection v1.1 smoothness and speed.

Sorry to have bored everybody but I like trying out all these different ROMs.Always curious when it comes to development.

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Not bored at all here Hobbs, always good to read your experience with the different ROMs, ive bookmarked some of them and check regularly on their development, so you're being very helpful actualy.

There was something just not right with the HyDrOG3n ICS 4.0.4 ROM.(Im sure once he perfects it he will be a force to be reckoned with in the development ROM world) I was getting an average of 3300 running Quadrant and occasionally it would drop to 2900.So I thought I would overclock it to 1600MHz and I still got a score of +-3300.Its almost like the CPU setting in ROM Control is just superficial and nothing is happening.

Compared to Ressurection + Siyah kernels average of 4200+ (got it as high as 4420).Overclocked you sitting at +-4800.

Lots of people disregard Quadrant scores but in this case I could feel the difference between the two ROMS speed and smoothness wise.

When does all this ROM changing end????
Restored my stock ICS.
All this updating every week and changing kernels that have been updated is all started to make me go potty.
This stock ROM is pretty solid and I forgot how much I actually like Touchwiz.
Cmon Checkrom.Put me out of my misery.Thats the only ROM when I was on Gingerbread that I stuck with.

Im loving stock Samsung ICS, i flashed to LP4 now and its even better as it includes the South African English language pack, something LP7 didnt have.
I dont know why people hate TouchWiz so much, i dont mind it, very customizable and unique in its own way, I especialy like its bright and colourful icons on top of black backgrounds as it truely brings out the jaw dropping infinite contrast and true blacks of the Super AMOLED Plus display. One of my uni classmates is on a mission to get a GS2 once her upgrade comes, she always asks me what software my GS2 has (she means OS), and if its good at the simple things she does, she is SOOO inlove with its display its not even funny she's quite blonde (very pretty though so gets away with it) but ask her whats better between an iPhone and GS2 and she will give some very impressive reasons and her number 1 trump card is the GS2's display.

Used my X10 yesterday then went back to the GS2, experience is like night and day, the GS2 with ICS is so fast, smooth and the display is just mind blowing when you go to it.

Posted by Bonovox
Well that's why it has sold in the millions Touch Wiz some people say it was confusing or crap. How can it be confusing?? It is just Samsung's own icons over Android I read someone wrote that somewhere. I miss the GS2 now but I would move upto a future model when upgrade time comes again. A Galaxy Note in white would be nice

Posted by Lollylost100
The new Hydrogen-ICS ROM is perfect. 3300 in Quadrant @ 1.2GHz. Fast Charge option is just amazing. The battery charges extremely quick and no side-effects on my device. The slugginesh is gone. Had to replace Nova Launcher with Apex and the music player with CM9 Music. Everything is now top notch and I'm staying. Samsung ROM no more, AOKP all the way!

I have the Xperia S launcher on my Note with the weather widget and it is great I also installed it on my fathers S2 For those interested you find it over at xda-developer, just search the forum for Xperia S Launcher

Posted by Lollylost100
The weather widget is great, only downside is the fact Xperia S launcher has to be used for it to function.

Posted by Hobbs
Lollylost

Glad that sluggishness is gone. That was one of my biggest issues with that ROM.

Posted by daviep
kies now has the option to convert/transfer media from other devices(apple) to your galaxy s2

About what size is the back on the SD card when one backs up using CWM? I am getting over 3GB. Is that normal? I want to back up before going to the latest Resurrection ROM.

Thanks

Posted by Hobbs
All my backups vary in size.Largest backup I have is 1.3gb.
Suppose it all depends on whats on the rom when you make the
backup. Most my backups are clean installs so the file sizes
are pretty small +-800mbs.

Thanks Hobbs. I jut got an MHL adapter, plus I have the USB on the go. I am going to get that 64GB micro SD next and the extended battery Kit.

Posted by skblakee
Sorry about a follow up post instead of editing the previous but I cannot get to edit it at this time which is several hours later.
Anyway, can anyone help or give suggestions. Since upgrading to ICS 4.0 from 2.3.6 most of my applications no longer are seeing/connecting to my data connection. Most times the data is on Edge. Previously in 2.3.6 my android mail, eBay, Amazon, paypal and facebook apps would connect on Edge. Now it is only when I am on wifi do they connect and work really well. However as soon as I leave the wifi connection it all ends and they will no longer connect.

Applications such as Facebook messenger, Whatsapp, the stock browser (which is very fast) Opera and Firefox will connect but all other applications never connect. Does anyone have any idea why and how I can fix this?

I am seriously considering going back to 2.3.6.

Hobbs, I tried the lastest Resurrection remix ROM. I loved the smoothness but too many settings for me and Radio was missing and seems my MHL was not working with it either. I am not even considering going back. Really smooth and fast but not going back. The start up screen I.....C....S.... is horrible if you ask me.

Posted by Hobbs
Hes ICS boot animation is a bit over-the-top.

Sorry to hear you are still having network problems.
I cant think of a solution for you to fix that problem
other than maybe waiting for your official regions ICS update
and see-ing if that makes any difference.

64GB micro SD.Cool.Thats some serious storage.

Don't know whats going on.Everytime I post from my G2's stock browser it double post.

Posted by Tsepz_GP
So after using the Xperia S launcher for a few days im back to TouchWiz launcher, the Xperia S launcher tends to stutter and lag at times between homescreens, my poor GS2 began to feel like those Xperia Ss on some of the reviews on YouTube, Sony did a great job with the looks of the launcher and its widgets but sacrificed performance.

Downloaded it via Kies

Pda: LP7
Phone: LPS
Csc: LP5 (XEU)

@tranced. Only just finished the install. Took me 5 attempts to get it done cos Kies kept playing up. Finally done and took Kies 1hr inc a backup.
All my data except internet settings were still on the phone after updating.

Posted by tranced
The internet settings are not big deal compared to losing your data.
