Recently after using the Mini Pro then using the x8 again the screen difference was huge

Posted by hihihans
I had to check first but my Sony car stereo has Xplod. could have use that instead of xloud

Posted by Bonovox
That'll be something Apple will steal next. They will call it Xpod

Posted by Alihosny
does it mean that the mini pro doesn't have the no-gap screen like the mini and the arc?

@bonovox do you mean the new mini pro or the x10 mini pro?if it is the new mini pro,do you feel great difference in quality because i am thinking of replacing my x8(a nice phone but very low specs and camera sucks, good price though) how is the camera?

but there isn't any 5MP exmor r sensors announced by sony.

Posted by tranced
Agreed. The whitepaper doesn't mention anything about an exmor r sensor! I still believing these don't have exmor r sensors.

@smclion102: the videos don't work.

The Xperia arc promo videos show that the phone features an exmor r sensor, while the Xperia Mini's don't.

the videos work for me and the spec sheet behind the phones clearly have the bravia engine and the exmor r logos but i am still not convinced,SE are writing it everywhere but never mentioned it .may be they are trying to pass it as exmor r sensor while it isn't (this would be a very disgusting marketing move ) and when you complain they will say that they have never mentioned it.

Posted by tranced
The videos worked for me today. I saw the exmor r logo. I still don't get why the press release and white paper don't mention anything about it.

In other hand, did you notice that in the Mini Pro video, while the guys is showing off the Mini Pro we can easily see that the Mini(not the pro) has a screen saver? Check out at 1:24.

Posted by smclion102
^^^
lets wait n see for final release..

Yaa tht Screen Saver Look Cool i guess u can now play videos on the screen saver...[i am not an android user so dono if tht feature is available rite now]

I think Mini or Mini pro has a theme selection too..
there is no more boring BLUE colour any more.

I'm not sure whether gingerbread has enabled screen saver support, but I can say that these devices are way too fast

How about now?

Yep & I want that white one plus the girl as a freebie in the box

Posted by rikken

Seems to be poor viewing angle

Posted by Bonovox
I think that's the light on the screen reflecting. But are them photos taken with the Mini's?? Don't look good

Posted by Alihosny
i think they are using the same type of panels used in arc and neo so it will have poor viewing angles just like the arc and the neo

We will see better Screens, colour, viewing angle, Etc etc in the next gen Bravia Engine-2 Maybe 2012 Handsets.
Like LCD,S-LCD,Super AMOLED,Super AMOLED Plus Etc Etc

Like the Sony Bravia TV i guess they have 3rd Gen Screen.

Bad viewing angle gives you more privacy. I don't want everyone to see what i'm doing.

Posted by Bonovox
Am I the only one here who does not understand the fuss about viewing angles?? Am I the only one who looks at a phone screen straight on?? Why would you wanna view the screen at an angle I don't get it.

I agree. I don't see the appeal of viewing my phone's screen at a very awkward angle. Do you really want people to see what are you texting?

I could go for the Mini. Perfect phone for me. Neo is an overkill for my needs.

Posted by Bonovox
I guess the only way a viewing angle would come in handy would be for taking a photo at an angle but otherwise I see no need

Posted by Alihosny
i agree.

The white pro is drop dead gorgeous, i want it now. actually i was very angry neo is delayed as i sold my x8 to get it before it was delayed but now , thanks god i waited ,now i am skipping the neo and getting the mini pro especially after reviews saying neo;s camera is not on par with the arc.

+100 For bad viewing angle.
WHO cares for viewing angle If ur using a TAB there its IMP otherwise its better to have privacy.
it will be awkward if some1 stares while u text/watch videos or etc etc.
Lot of ppl do tht "look what the other person is doing in his phone".
Especially our public transport.

Blame it on Gadget Sites they started all this fuss abt viewing angle.

I am with you here too. I do not get the fuss at all. Very superfluous especially when reviewers mention it.

Posted by djin
I agree with you guys on veiwing angle! Its so difficult to text something thats private!!

The only logical thing i can come up for this is when you want to view a movie, and dont want to hold the phone for the entire time..

Posted by rikken
Maybe viewing angle says something about the quality of the screen ? That a screen with a good viewing angle has better sunlight legibility. . . . . . ???

Posted by Bonovox
Does a viewing angle quality depend on how close the screen is to the glass??

Posted by HxH
Arc has decent sunlight legibility even it has poor viewing angle, I think it different from technology underlying AMOLED such a thing.

And I'm up with you guys I want some privacy when I typing some texts, what the fuss about those tech craze!

Posted by Alihosny
here at 1:01
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHaARf5GGuc

the sunlight legibility seems good.

i still feel that the mini has the no air-gap screen while the pro doesn't, can anybody confirm?

Posted by m1986h
I think the Screen is great with 16,777,216 color TFT and 320 x 480 pixels (HVGA)

Posted by Bonovox
Yes the same size screen on the x8 looks decent

Posted by Alihosny
does it have a chance to be released in july?

Posted by hihihans
July is Q3, but don't count on it. September is more likely.

Posted by Bonovox
Well with the delays in Japan cos of the disaster i hope SE find more suppliers for parts elsewhere.

Hands-on video Xperia mini:

http://www.se-first.com/Xperia-mini-hands-on-video.html

Posted by jplacson
Hmm... seems the Exmor sensor was removed from the Mini Pro spec page. *Apologies, this is old news hahaha*

But there seems to be a 'handwriting recognition' added to the Mini Pro that the Mini and Arc do not have.

**BTW, to those that have access to an Arc and a prototype Mini/Mini Pro... can you please post low light photos of the same scene/angle so we can see the difference in sensor sensitivity? Thanks!

does the mini pro have the email view where half the screen is for email text and the other half for list of emails ,like the neo pro?
