@Goldenface I noticed it arrived at your place today but they left a card as you were out. At least it arrived anyway

Posted by goldenface
Yeah, I picked up the card yesterday afternoon.I'll probably collect it tomorrow. Cheers fella.

Guess what? Today i decided as a second phone as i was tempted. I got the white Xperia Play sim free from Phones4U for £149!! I thought its so much nicer in white and as a second phone at a bargain price why not. If you have a pay as you go sim for more than 6 months you get it for £129. Shocking prices now. But its so much better in white. Got 2 white phones now the GS2 aswell.

Forgive me Esato for I have strayed. Its been 18 months since my last Sony Ericsson, seduced by a cheap Android phone.

But I'm back in SE land now after picking up a play for £129 PAYG. What a bargain.

Sorry if it has been asked before, but I have disabled the stock Message (SMS) app in favour of chomp. However I still get a "1 New Message" notification when the screen wakes before I swipe unlock it. Naturally I have read all messages in chomp but its still there, never increasing from "1 new message".

Any ideas of whether this is fixable - no big deal as if I really have a new message the chomp quick reply box is there anyway.

Ah you got one too?? So you got the upgrade price did you??

Does anywhere sell the play in orange? This was a while back does it actually exist? I might be tempted to snap one up at such a bargain price...

Posted by Bonovox
Not sure I have not seen any anywhere & the only time I first knew of it was through Goldenface. Mine was made in 11/wk45 with 2.3.4 installed!! Screen is decent seems brighter than before

between 7-13th of November, that's impressive you must of got a fresh batch! But that's good to hear because it would imply that they are selling a lot of handsets (not that that's surprising at the current price).

I would normally go for the black version, but there is something so sexy about the play in orange

just me?

Looks nice actually!! I just walked into phones4U just looking around & seen it in pay as you go section in white. I said have you definately got them in white. He said yes we only have the white ones in stock. I said great I'll have a white one then I think they are selling cos they sold out online a while ago everywhere. And yet Carphonewarehouse still sell them for £499

@Bonovox
Nice phone ...
(I wonder what will you get as a backup for the backup )

Posted by Bonovox
More and more back up phones to back up the last back up phone so back up is backed up.

Posted by goldenface
Great looking phone, I prefer the white version.

@bono. Don't forget to download the free EA games from the SE site.

Yup, upgrade price. Used my wifes Orange phone number, now running on "3" network since currently Phones 4U are selling totally unlocked phones. Have read a warning from a P2U employee that there may be a "lock to first SIM inserted" batch coming in soon, no idea if true or not.

First impressions are very favourable. Sure it creeks a bit, slider is a bit wobbly when closed etc. But after coming from at-Mobile pulse this is a delight. Working camera that can actually scan barcodes, multi touch screen, can run flash, has enough space to fit more than 6 apps on, ICS upgradable, etc, etc. And the battery life is OK for a smartphone too. Oh, and it can play games

It may not be the best android phone out there. But it surely has to be best value if you can put up with it being a bit chunky. I'd certainly not swap with the Mrs Orange San Francisco.

Posted by Bonovox
I realised now the slider is supposed to wobble slightly when closed. It's put on solidly as it's rock solid when open it's just it's only got the sliders the one side. And mine does not creak at all. When I had the black one I just hated it got mucky in seconds

Yes had a browse last night. What I wanna know is the additional data to download on some games already built in,is there a way of over riding having to download it via Wi Fi?? I don't have Wi Fi in the home & it seems a pain having to go out & do it. I managed Fifa download via network. This video makes the device look nice with the screen looking good.

Well if you have two unlocked Androids running 2.3, put your sim in the Galaxy and connect the Play to it using WiFi. That's one way around it I guess.

Posted by Bonovox
Ok I see well,I just been out & I used free Wi Fi in Star Bucks & finished downloading Bruce Lee Battlion & Crash Bandicoot. I played Fifa last night & won 3-2 Aston Villa v Liverpool

@ Bonovox

What size memory card did you get with your xperia play from phones4u, only asking because a friend of mine got a 8gb with he's xperia play yesterday but im sure when I was selling them a few months back they came with a 16gb.

Posted by Bonovox
I got an 8 gig but I have a 16 gig one already

Posted by goldenface
Mine came with 16GB in the box.

Posted by Bonovox
So far the Play is reliable but I have just one issue. I put the weather app built in one on auto update every two hours but it never updates. Has anyone one else had this??

Posted by Bonovox

My new dock I got today

Posted by goldenface
The dock is great, I think you need to have at least three of them though, one for every room in the house.

I was looking at the white version in the O2 shop yesterday, very nice. I'm sold!

Posted by pt020
@Bonovox
Looks very nice,happy for you.
In the past it came with the phone (got one with my P1i)

Posted by Bonovox
I got it for £13 Amazon. Though there was one for £11 but delivery took longer on it. The stereo speakers are so loud the alarm scared the shit out of me this morning

Posted by Bonovox
Now,I wanna say I am finding the XPlay very fast reliable & battery life lasts ages!! Impressed with it now. No problems at all!! Though last night my fingers ached after too much playing Fifa

Posted by Bonovox
Xperia Play can take fairly decent night shots if kept dead still on a stable surface if you try. It's not perfect but not that bad either

Original

Posted by goldenface
Not bad shots at all actually.

btw, I've just updated Mediago, it's much better than what it used to be.

Posted by Bonovox
I only ever used Media Go once with the w995. I am now on my 3rd day of battery life without charge battery is ace

Nice colors

Thanks. It's like most camera phones best in sunlight. I may have been sunny but it was freezing cold today

That's amazing! Never knew 64GB cards are out in the market Wonder if it is compatible with Arc/Arc S as well. Since you already have one, wouldn't hurt if you tried it on another Xperia model and do us all a big fat favour right?

excuse me , i found that my back led is flicking (like a very quick blink) every afew seconds when use as torch .

Is this normal for xplay ?

I nid clarify for this and if that is hardware problem i will sent it to service center on monday .

Posted by Rookwise
I'm starting to get tempted into getting an Xplay now. I don't usually play games on my phone but with some of the games I've seen on the android market lately (dizzy prince of the yolkfolk was a classic when guyap younger) I'm really thinking about getting one.
Sonic CD and The 90's X Men arcade games are just two of the ones I'd deffo buy.

Posted by Bonovox
It's a decent phone mate especially in white looks great too. Screen is excellent as is performance. You never have to open the slider just use it as a normal phone.

Posted by Rookwise
Where's the best place to get one from now ?
O2 no longer list it and cpw is £499 on 3 p&g only and just the black model available.

Orange would be nice but the white one would be ok as well

Posted by Bonovox
I still seen it in O2 stores. There is Dial A Phone for £149,Phones4U now only do the £149 only online but is £199 in store. Buymobilephones.net do it for £189,Amazon do it,Play.com still sell it there is loads!!

Posted by goldenface
I went into my local O2 store and it was sold out. It was still in the catalogue but not on display. If you want it on O2 in white its still the cheapest available here for £149. Which is a bargain!

It cost £15 to debrand it though, which is what I'm going to do as I prefer the white version.

The games are great on there honestly, the gamepad really makes a difference.
