Yes anything is surely better than the stupid flash setting on x10. Don't think they thought that through right.

YES! What's more sad, is that they can fix this, by 30 minutes of coding, and releasing the damn update! I'm afraid the same bullshit is gonna happen with arc, that some stupid shit is made by SE, and they won't fix it...

Posted by Bonovox
No in the Arc the flash is directly in the main camera menu unlike where is was in the x10 under sub menus which made it not very easy to turn on and off.

Having previously had the Desire HD I can honestly say the camera was awful. It has blurry out of focus shots. I still though prefer my new White X10 over the Arc design wise and also in terms of how too thin and light the Arc is. One thing I have read up on in terms of Exmor sensor is in alot of expert digital camera reviews I have read them stating that Exmor sensor has worsoned the image noise in low light. This is a common problem with back lit sensors. Apparently. @toneyericsson you have not changed your username yet to ToneyHTC

You obviously never tried putting it in focus in that very short period of time having the DHD of then running back to crappy se. Why the X10 now? it's done and dusted, stupid decision.

I take awesome photos on the Desire HD and in low light, the whole area is lit up with the dual LED flashes.

I wouldn't call that a flash in the X10 thats just a photo light and I have taken better photos with a K810.

I've had Sony Cybershots for years and also have Exmor-R cameras, theres nothing good about the Exmor-R sensor compared to something like Cannons Powershot range which I also have.

As for changing my name I don't need to change my name just to state facts on this se fanboy site.

We got you the first 50 times. Could you STFU about the goddamn Desire HD and WAIT until this phone is out to judge camera performance and all that?

The arc looks brilliant!

you have to give sonyericsson some credit. they do make nice looking phones. Legen likes this

Posted by tranced
I do give them. Arc's design is simply out of this world. Big, bright and clear screen!

Seen videos of it playing 720p and 1080p will that be x264 in mkv container or will you have to convert every movie just for the phone? (which make the hdmi>hd-movies) experience a big hassle.

The Arc cannot play 1080p videos

This is interesting video from Mobile-review as Eldar said Arc is ordinary, and now they say it is interesting even though they were pretty critical about lately. The phone stand out of the crowd of many HTC and Samsung boring design phones. At the end of the video the guy (I don`t know if that was Eldar itself) said there is no cracks as he squeeze the phone very hard, and in the beginning he also sad Arc look much better in real life than on the pictures, and he like silver one more. Also he claims there will be 1m long HDMI cable in the box.

The last statement from eldar http://www.mobile-review.com/articles/2011/birulki-102-en.shtml. If the "hallon" is as good as arc in speed then It is going to be hard to chose because the two are great.

Silver looks much cooler & less finger prints too

Your obviously expecting an update from se

It wasn`t Eldar, it was Sergey Kuzmin. He says "Sony Ericsson Arc delicious, video shot
Looked at the machine, I really enjoyed it. Video removed. We are waiting for devices for reviews. Sorry, that does not play out of the box unconverted video - though, if I merely from a selfish point of view will look like exactly.
It looks great (especially one that is not black)
It quickly and smartly works.
Good camera, takes HD.
Display - the plague, despite the fact that it is not the final version is installed.
This is my opinion.
Specifically talked to him, voice quality is excellent, the person to press the button during a conversation is impossible.
Really - a good old Sony Ericsson"
But Eldar is not so optimistic. He says "Yes, Arc has a good disign, but it is outdated for its price. Hallon is much interesting, considering the price.
Only time will tell...

Is it likely if I get the Arc sim-free that it will be available first in midnight blue??

Posted by Bonovox
Despite a nice screen it does look a bit reflective

Posted by dibdin
I have noticed that as well looking at some videos. I'm not put off though.

Posted by MyP910
SE always come out with a nice design. They can distinguish themselves from the ordinary lookalike boring design and stand out from the crowd.

Posted by alexlt
MicroSD is hot swappable?? Looks like same as X10 ...

I'm really liking Arc design

Posted by jplacson
I hope they still come out w a thinner 2.5" mini pro version and not the 3" upgrade of the X8.

Posted by boy.in.PINK
@jplacson, agree much kabayan. Though I'm not using nowadays, I'm eyeing for X10 Mini (a second hand) with the pink back cover despite of its limitations such as the equalizer or Froyo (we can get an equalizer on Froyo).

Maybe he doesn't have a clue.
Its the chipset that determines what resolution videos can be played and Snapdragon 8255 does not support playback of 1080p videos. 720p max

@jplacson
I think 2.5 inch too small, 3 inch at least and 3.5 inch at most.
3" with physical qwerty keyboard or 3.5" full touchsreen would be enough for me.
But this Arc looks great, despite 4.2" screen too big I'm gonna buy it anyway when it hit the market. lol

Photos taken with Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc
The following photos by XBlog.gr, really put the arc in impressive light, especially the ones taken in low-light conditions without flash.
The pictures were all taken on the automatic camera setting and have received no post-capture treatment. The low-light pictures used an ISO speed of 1250. By launch, the camera should be even more impressive. Check out some pictures below.

That is display support, nothing to do with playback.
This is what is mentioned for QSD 8255 video playback

"High-definition (720p) video recording and playback up to 30 frames per second"

Posted by OriginaTitan
does it support USB On-The-Go ?

Xperia arc hits UK pre-order, points to April release

The Sony Ericsson Xperia arc has finally appeared for UK pre-order. Those looking to pick-up the handset sim-free will have to splash-out £459.99 according to Play.com. Whilst this does sound a bit steep, it’s worth remembering that the Xperia X10 was £70 more expensive when it first came up for pre-order over a year ago.

The listing does not give any indication what colour you would be pre-ordering, but the picture is that of the Midnight Blue handset. The site has also given an indication of a release date, pointing to April 1st. This would put it in line with the release date we were told (towards end of Q1/early Q2). What are your thoughts on price? Do you think it’s too expensive or pretty much as you expected?

play.com is much more expensive when it comes to phones, then other websites. I would say it will be around £400 mark.

I didn't realise the Xperia arc was the X12, I was wondering which number it would correspond to.

Posted by tranced
It's not X12. It's LT15. We just call it that way because we supposed it's the X10 successor.

Also known as Anzu.

Posted by dibdin
It's cheaper than I was expecting. I normally buy my sim-free phones from Carphone usually, but it if I can buy cheaper elsewhere. I doubt if Expansys will be selling it any cheaper than play.com as Expansys seem to be more expensive than anyone else.

Carphonewarehouse has the silver version as an exclusive so all other sellers will have the blue one available.

Posted by tranced
I don't see the silver version as an exclusive. The blue is better.

Them building shots are showing bad barrel distortion

Posted by SKIBBE
@avmaxfan you'r right i read to "fast" did't notice it said playback to only recording. hmms but then my other quesition will be (not that i know if you know the answer) if i play an 1080p movie will it just resize or is the cpu to weak? ( i have alot of 1080p movies in my libary, that's why i am asking)

Edit, 450 is cheap, i thought it would be more like 630£ (but here in sweden acording to www.prisjakt.se the cheapest site is around 540£)

It's fairly cheap when you consider that the x10 in Carphone is still £399 I got my x10 White for £334 Most phones lose value quite fast but yes Play.com stupid prices they charge like they charged £499 for the c901

Posted by SKIBBE
was hoping to get 100£ for my x10i then the arc will be more priceworthy (but i may have to unlock it to be able to sell it)
but i don't like selling my old phones or stuff

Posted by Bonovox
I use places like Fone Bank or Mazuma Mobile they pay out fast. Currently the best price for the x10i I seen on one of them recycling sites is £170

Why would you recycle it!? Are you crazy!? Those websites are meant for old phones not an X10 which isn't event a year old! Just flog it on ebay you'll easily get £250+ dependant on condition and accessories.

Hell I'll buy your X10 of you for £170!
