only issue is cant put media shortcuts widget on home page. it says widget already lowered but u dont have it loaded..

Posted by Evilchap
@DarkKrypt - main Menu > Settings > Applications > manage Applications > All > Sony Ericsson Home Screen > Clear Data

This will not delete anything but will reset the homescreen to its default appearance (ie: widgets shortcuts etc) and likely resolve this issue.

Had IDENTICAL issue.
The above solution is right, it resolves the problem.

I just bought an Arc after 1 year with x10. The design is so kool, and it 's very smooth. But sometimes when I press the power button to unlock the screen, the screen doesn't work,it still black, just 2 leds between 3 physical buttons are on. I tried to flash another rom such as 4.0.1.a.283( it 's 4.0.1.a.42 when I bought), but nothing was better. Any one here has the same problem, please help me.

@adsada

Where did you look for apps that you could uninstall?

I was running root with my x10, adw launcher but now they just are uninstalled but payed for in my market :S
would be nice to speed up my arc again and have a clean nice looking desktop again.

i am about to do a factory reset anyway, it's anying slow now

Here ya go

Here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1089470

yeah root it as well as doing a factory reset. It's pretty painless if you download a app to backup your apps there is also one which backs up your sms conversations, and your contacts/numbers etc. then just restore on the fresh install. I did it both for my 6th month old arc and it's great again.

Edit, removed everything from this post

Just got my Usb OTG converters from deal extreme! They work like a charm (really don't know what i need them for, but they where ass cheap )

Tried the usb-mouse
When i find my usb-wireless xbox 360 reciver i will try that one

I just ordered 6 cables also from DealExtreme ( not adapters, cables... SKU 67186 )...

I already have one adapter but I used too several times and know it became loosy. and my cousin already wants the one with the cable...

I use it mainly for reading flash memory ( USB flash ) not for mouse or keyboard...

Hi everyone,

a rushed post,,, so will search later!

I have a crack on my Arc on the top black body secton where the light sensor is.

I think it is becoming well documented on the net, but have any Esato members had this problem?

If so, what did you do about it? Replacement with new or refurbished? Repaired?

Ofiaich

Posted by arcmhyke
My friend got the Midnight Blue version after 5months, those cracks appeared, and he's waiting for a new front cover that is used in Arc S, or atleast a Reinforced version than the previous one that SE Warranty provides which also suffers from those cracks after 2-3months

and I also read somewhere in SE Support forum that they will replace it under warranty, well it will also depends on your location though, if they got the memo already.

Only Midnight Blue version of Arc suffers this cracks, until now I haven't read any Arc S users reporting crack problems.

Hey ofiaich, how you doing?

I think initially it was only midnight blue which had the cracks but my silver has now cracked, albeit in a different place.

As mhyke says, service centres will probably do the fix for you but they have about a 1 week turnaround time. I've thought about buying an OEM housing from somewhere like cnn.cn and taking it to my local independent mobile stall and getting them to change it up, more expensive but faster and without the whole returns process hassle.

OT: I owe you a PM. I'm rubbish I know but I've just got back to the UK for Christmas so as you can imagine I've been very busy.

Posted by ofiaich
Hi mhyke and Ricky D!

Thanks for your replies! I am insured with Vodafone so they say they can send it away for repair but if S-E will not do, then they will give me a refurbished handset as a replacement. They also say there is a one year manfacturers warranty.

The Vodafone store also went on about whether it was a recognised fault or nor, even though I said there wre many reported cases of this on the internet!

@Ricky D! No hurries for PM replies! Plenty of time before I go to China! Hope you are having a good Christmas in the UK!

I noticed today that mine has also developed a hairline crack around the light sensor. Too small to see unless under direct light so I'm going to leave it unless it gets worse.

Bit of a pain thou!

Posted by ofiaich
Hi rickster2kuk

Which network are you with, or did you buy sim free?

Vodafone says if it is not a recognised S-E problem for the Arc, then they won't do much about it.

I sent mine off for repair last week. It took a week. They replaced the screen aswell. Don't know why they replaced the LCD.

You need to call them on 08705 237 237 (UK) and they will book you phone in for repair and tell you where to send the phone. I'm on contract with o2 but decided to bypass o2 and call SE directly to get it fixed.

They fixed it under warranty. The housing was a slightly different colour and the material looks different.

think there is any chance mine would be covered even though I no longer have proof of purchase/warranty?

Posted by fjcarlsson
The crack is not unique to midnight blue. My silver arc got a crack by sensor 4-5 months after I bought it. I had casing replaced under warranty by contacting SE directly a few weeks ago. Carphone Warehouse didn't want to know and were very unhelpful when I talked to them about this. They said they would charge for parts and work for something that is covered by manufacturers warranty. Last time I buy from them for sure. I hope the new casing is stronger.

Hi, has anyone else noted a slight decrease in picture quality when updating to 2.3.4?.... the pictures seem to look more washed out, its like they have less sharpness and saturation...

If you could try taking a few pictures in familiar places and comparing them to some of your previous firmware pictures would be quite useful.

I'm on T-Mobile and had the phone SIM free.

Proof of Warranty might be hard because I bought it off ebay and don't official have a sales invoice. I would imagine SE can check there database thou.

Does the back cover makes creeking noise when the phone is pressed or is it just mine?

It will be March or more likely April until ICS comes to the Arc. I know SEMC have been among the fastest OEMs to update their Android system but this is just too much.

I will be interested to see to what extent Sony packs its Android version with bloatware but such a delay (will be 5 months between ICS launch and SEMC adoption on Arc?) will ensure my next phone is a Nexus.

So apparently the new stock ICS fw will use the current (old) kernel.

I read though that the ICS web browser is awesomely fast (3x faster!) and more fuctional and it's largely down to the section of the kernel that's been written for it. I wonder where the SE stock ICS rom stands with this..

Posted by Spinz
anybody know of any good audio player. The standard audio player is not good, I think SE should've integrated the TrackId inside the player so that we could be able to get more information added to the song being played like Album cover, Artist info, lyrics etc.

They pulled a similar stunt with the X10 when going from 2.1 to 2.3.3, kept same kernel AFAIK, worked out fine though.

How does DLNA work and what do i need?

Will it be the same as using the HDMI cable? (displaying everything realtime) or just video/pictures?

Do i connect it to my reciver or my tv?

I want to mainly stream music from spotify (running on the mobile) the apps on market to remotly use PC-spotify are kinda crapy (using my HTPC running win7 with 2 users, XBMC and a RDP logged in one running spotify) Meaning the image displayed on my tv is the XBMC user, spotify running hidded on the second user and are able to play sound when i dont use the soundcard in XBMC.

I do have BT on my HTPC but the range is crap due to that the MotherBoard has the dongle in the back. WIFI is much better (or is there any app that can transfer sound thrugh WIFI?) that will do the trick to.

Just a Snapshot of my livingroom (a few months old, i do have some flowers now)

Getting 100% hacked off with this crap fone Never again been trying for weeks to get the up-date. Keeps saying server busy or something like that.
The worse move I've made coming back to SE thats for sure.

A couple of days ago my arc started randomly rebooting, often after just waking up and sliding to ublock. I had just installed a number of app updates including the new google maps. I have reinstalled firmware but the problem remains after this. Very odd. Does anyone have a similar problem or know how to sort it out? Is it a hardware fault?

Never, lol. The most stable device I've had so far, with the latest FW no single random reboot.
I reboot it manually every 20 days or so..

I think I found the source for rebooting, it is Sportypal Pro.

Last night i received a notification of the latest update (4.0.2.A.062), and was looking to update OTA, but i wasn't given this option, only via pc companion. Any reason for this?? All other times when i have received updates i have been able to OTA without any problem.

Posted by Arne Anka
Hwo knows. Perhaps system parts required for OTA also need to be updated as part of this process.

Posted by dibdin
What does this update include anyway?

Posted by mediar
It drains your battery:

I updated my Arc OTA to .62
and on idle the batt life is perfect, eats like 2% in the night.
I am not sure with heavy usage but I think it's similar to .42....

SIM-free? Have no idea what you mean,
it's generic Arc from polish store
On T-Mobile contract.

It's the first OTA upgrade I got though.
