Hi guys i'm from Bangladesh. Does anyone here(from Bangladesh) is stuck with the old firmware(2.3.3....build number 3.0.1....) and not even able to updat to softare version 4.0......(with Xloud feature)? I'm having this issue and PC companion and OTA both say that i'm on the latest firmware version.SE site says that it released in Bangladesh(as in when u select the location as Bangladesh). Sigh. Any advice guys. Note: I do not want to root my device and have no intention of voiding my warranty.)

That's a shame, do you have a generic phone, or one with branding from an operator? The only thing I can suggest is that you keep checking, but I guess you're doing that anyway.

If you love anything to do with movies then i suggest IMDB app is a great app. You can watch trailers of films on your Arc - picture is very good when viewing trailers on this app. Just my opinion.

Thank you! Have downloaded that just now!

I see the new update is announced today, but at the moment it does not seem to be available to download! Well not here in the UK. Looked on website and used PC companion and that does not offer the update. I take it this will be so in the next few days?

My Arc just updated OTA (am based in the UK) scared me to death!

The text message notification seems to have vanished from the unlock screen. Is there any way of getting it back does anyone know?

The battery life is so much better now. Still at 49% battery level after 1 day and 9 Hours .. I also so welcome the Screen capture, it is such a good feature to have (missed it as one of my most used features from iPhone).

Do any one know a widget like HTC Sense's Clock and weather widget ? I really like it but can't find something similar ( or exactly the same )

Currently I'm using BeWeather and like it, but I still want that widget

And did i read right that this crack issue is not in the warranty? I read somewhere that Sony Ericsson was refusing to fix them. Am i right or wrong? If so it stinks.

After you said this I had a check and I've got a crack too

Bottom left, in line with the camera button but on the other side where there are no buttons.

I take very good care of my phone so I'm very disappointed by this.

I guess I'l be picking up next year's WMC showcase handset, whatever it may be.

Xperia Arc hit by hardware faults
http://www.mobilenewscwp.co.u[....]ia-arc-hit-by-hardware-faults/
How can deny it's not a fault of the plastics?? Clearly people are looking after their devices but the crack appears so it should be under warranty. They seriously need to be careful cos once again this may damage their reputation.

1st of all: SE confirmed that it is Under Warranty, but then again not all SE Service Center knows this, or at least they have not yet been informed, but it is Under Warranty

2nd: For those people who already sent their Xperia Arc to Service center to change the Front Cover, the replacement cover was made of the same material, so, eventually, cracks will appear again after some time, usually 2-3months or really depends on how the user use his Arc

3rd: SE also knows that with the same material for replacement it did not solve the problem, so, they have confirmed that the new replacement cover will be Better and Tougher(maybe they strengthened the material?)

4th: Other Options to solve this kind of Problem is to Apply Skins, or ZAGG Ishield, atleast the crack part will be covered and you're Arc will be protected from scratches too, without compromising the Arc's Beauty and Size. I will apply Ishield to my Arc

5th: Another Solution is to use Jelly Case and Leather Case, i think?

Source on SE confirmation: FaceBook Page and Support Page

Fair enough then. I still don't get why they say it's made of premium plastics

I Think that's is related to the Materials they used on the Plastics, the Plastic is called Polycarbonate which does not interfere with the Signals(GSM/WIFI etc) which is also tough, but not in Arc case, specially in that Proximity Sensor, that where usually where Heat Generates.

and some custom finishes that the design team to make the design to look premium, I guess

Am not sure if all xperia's 2011 are using this kind of plastic though

Any news on the 4.3.4 update for the UK? Still not available for generic UK handsets.

Posted by HxH
After 2 months its small cracked
After 4 months its side-chrome paled

Damn! I'm rather disappointed to see this happen with my next potential handset.

my Arc is 2 months old, luckily no cracks yet nor chrome peeling

my suggestions is to apply Full Body Protection from ZAGG

I asked people, and this Ishield will last more than 1 year, before it will become yellowish color or it will peel from the phone.

but for the screen protector some said it has a rubbery feel and makes touch screen less responsive, so maybe you should go for another brand for the screen protection.

Do you mean 2.3.4 (FW: 4.0.1.A.0.283)?

It's available to flash with flashtool from xda if you want it in a hurry. Flashtool can be used with locked or unlocked bootloaders and just takes a few clicks and a few minutes.

The UK SE facebook page states "new software (2.3.4) that’s due to launch on selected Xperia handsets in the next couple of weeks." on Monday, so the next 2 weeks, so we should get it by the 7th of October if they're not lying

Hi

I need some help with my SE Arc.

I need to keep the Bluetooth on discoverable always so it automatically links with my carkit.
Also the name of the phone is LT5i(something) how do I change it to SE Arc, I tried it under media centre but on forum apps it still shows LT5i.
Also which will be the best media codecs to download? To view wmv files...

Tnx

The discoverable mode is actually more like a pairing mode i.e. you should only need it on to pair the arc to your car. After that whenever your car kit is on and ready it will automatically search for it's paired devices and will find devices it is paired with whether or discoverable mode is tuned on or not. I've never had any issues with having to turn on discoverable mode after the device has been paired and I've used numerous car kits and headsets, in fact I'd advise not to turn discoverable mode on permanent (if there was such a setting).

Hey. In the last few days I have experienced some serious battery drain. Think it might be google maps after recent update. Anyone else experience this?

This 2.3.3 is an utter disgrace. SE should be embarrassed with that pig of a release. They had better get 2.3.4 on World Generic pronto because every day with this piece of rubbish release is another reason for me to go looking for a Nexus.

Posted by SKIBBE
@Bonovox: I have no idea but the posts after says it is.

@Ricky D: i have mine in the lether pouch all the time, but if they are making a better cover, maybe i should wait to send it in? does not bother my daily use, just disapointed with the poor quality

Posted by mange69
I experience bugs in my application menu (2.3.3) . Often when I open the menu I get multiple screens. Normally I have 5 screens, but often it is around 11 of them with several empty places. I have to press the Home button twice to get back the 5 screens. Anyone else with the same problem? Is it gone in 2.3.4?

What's your biggest issue with 2.3.3? Battery drain?

Battery drain is the biggest problem. Other highlights include very very laggy performance generally, force closes all over the place (particularly Timescape plugins), frequent inability to multitask when using audio applications (turn off in the background), substantial deterioration in Wifi performance, (dropping networks) and Android Market not performing properly either. There are other more minor bugs and glitches but put it this way, I have been careful to not let anyone play with my Arc recently, cos they would laugh.

Some of this may be app dependent but it all started with 2.3.3.

Quick help from anyone still using Android 2.3.2...

Could you tell me the names of the alarm tones (I think there are only a few)
Sorry I can't remember the actual name ot the tone.

The stock android ones were removed by SE in 2.3.3, and gone with it the really loud tone that I was using.

Just need to know the name of the tone so I can download it.

Many Thanks,

Posted by Avinash
Suprisingly, after the 2.3.3 (4.0.A.2.368), which I just got a week back, my Arc battery life and performance has improved. I am now getting 2 days from my Arc from the earlier 1.5 days and the performance is much improved as well.
I know this is the exact opposite of what has been said in this thread, but I guess either Sony Ericsson India took so long to release the firmware update to sort out all the issues or am just lucky so far...

[ This Message was edited by: Avinash on 2011-10-04 21:15 ]

Posted by alibond82
@Avinash: This is what happened to me exactly after I updated, but sadly lasted for a week. Battery drains so fast now and performance is still better than before, but not as good as when I had updated. My phone is World Generic, I bought it from Dubai, and I live in Egypt, and there's not update to 2.3.4 yet, and I'm waiting impatiently for it!

Posted by aka Dus
Seems ICS will be out before 2.3.4 for World Generic.

It's just as well the Tech Press barely gives a siht about SE as this is a pretty embarrassing issue from a PR point of view. And good PR, as Apple show, is a key determinant of market share.
