Likely it will only show as a background process... The camera interacts with the radio in some way as I remember custom ROMs for the Desire that didn't have a working camera due to an older radio version - the radio being 'baseband' in system settings. The radio is obviously one of the main uses of the battery so it makes sense that it would cause excessive drain...

+1. The same.
Only reboot or even twice reboot if first was around 3 minutes, the second around 50 seconds and it fix the prob.

Took a snap on the camera app.

I've downloaded Free Memory Recover from the Market and run it. It's closed down loads of services, so I'll see if it's force closed the camera module re battery performance.

It may be something to do with continual use of a the camera app. The odd shot may not trigger it to battery drain, but say if you were to take 3 - 4 in a row it may set off the battery drain. Certainly did it yesterday.

Anyone using the Arc with an Exchange account that forces a security code?

I've read a post that says it doesnt support it and thats a deal breaker for me...

Posted by doministry
Well 10 hours of standby and 40% of battery eaten
is not OK.

Hey guys!!
Check out this video of comparison between LG Optimus 2X and Xperia Arc.

The device is just awesome... ...its look can grab your attention just at a glance...its just wonderful..one of the amazing production of Sony Ericsson mobile phones ..i am eagerly waiting for the handset to be launched so that i can have one.

The Arc lost

Posted by se_dude
What a stupid test that.

Posted by rmk152
WOW after seeing that i will sell my ARC and buy a LG Optimus 2X instead!!

Posted by SKIBBE
Don't base your choice using that test...

Posted by emzee_ali
well.. i found it very funny..so i posted it here. It was really a very dumb test comparing a single core phone and a dual core one. But from the video, i see that the Arc is not that far behind. It was lagging behind in boot up and file download.
And rest it was very much close. As for the file download test, it could depend on the connection speed on offer from the operator. And Arc has max 7.2 Mps HSDPA while the 2X has 10.2 Mbps. Whether this affects the download speed? that am not sure.

Well LG has worse screen and design.
I'm not sure camera is that good either.

And read other LG 2x reviews.
Looks like the whole double core thing is not polished at all.

Posted by Caspa
Wow, great test...

Still hoping someone is using it with Exchange... Anyone?

Skibbe is right. Just came from the lobby of where I work & they were showing off the Arc - it's the first time I saw one up close & in action. They had the unit hooked up to a Bravia TV and demonstrated games (the Shrek race thingy) , videos , photos and MP3 songs. During the 15 minutes I was there the display only paused once , for about half a second, during a highres video.

I saw close up how the Bravia engine could enhance contrast, sharpness & colors and how Exmor tech could brighten a low light shot. Dual core is nice but not essential (yet) for smartphones (diff. story though for tablets).

well my contract is upgraded all I have to do now, is wait for an email saying its been dispatched and then wait for the postie..!

If you're waiting for arc I really don't think you'll be disappointed with it.

I'm still picking it up and thinking "wow!" every 10-20 minutes.

Did you get blue or silver?

Posted by dsr27

It's the dumbest sh..t I've ever watched. C'mon don't trash the thread.
BTW if double core is only worth such an advantage, it's just not worth it.

The real power can be seen in every day usage across many situations.

Posted by Bonovox
This must be due to shortages. I have spoken to a friend of mine in a phone store saying the Arc and Play are not selling well so far

Thank you

Vodafone

For more information email info@v-store.co.uk

Hopefully it wont be the 2 -4 wks..! If I'd known I would have upgraded a lil later lol

Posted by Ricky D
Ask them to discount the portioned value of the phone from your monthly bills until the new handset arrives.

We all know the £30+ per month isn't purely the cost of the calls, texts and data but a portion of it is a contribution to the cost of the handset. If they're delaying you for 4 weeks, you should try and get that portion back.

Posted by noah09
I think there are deals with £25 per month plan is also available.

Hi dsr27!

Hopefully it wont be the 2 -4 wks..! If I'd known I would have upgraded a lil later lol

This happened to me with Vodafone 3 weeks ago. I ordered online and all was going well, delivery to local Vodafone store next day, etc etc.

Then the email, same as your email, came. So I cancelled.

The cancellation was confirmed by email, but my tariff details were not cahnged back to my original tariff and still showed the new contract details.

I had to phone to get it reset to the pre-upgrade tariff!

I will wait till I can upgrade instore so I can actually walk out with a handset.

Bono - you're turning out to be the new Toney! .

Posted by Bonovox
No,I am just stating what someone told me who works at Phones4U as a manager. He just said he has hardly sold any

Posted by rickster2kuk
Well it's got a lot to compete with really especially up against HTC's offerings.

Still hands down the best smartphone camera on the market at present.

Posted by SE-Naz
Well I have a friend who is a manager in phones4u in London and he says the Arc is selling better then the Play...

Posted by Bonovox
Selling better than the Play but not the competition. Shame really cos are really trying hard

Posted by SE-Naz
I didnt ask what the competition is doing... as I am not interested in them... I am happy with the Arc... First time in a while

Posted by mediar
What happened with the custom SE search widget that was posted in the official photos? Why can't I see it in any reviews and does that mean than no such widget will be added?

Posted by rickster2kuk
^ Was the the widget with all of the faces icons in a grid? Seems that it never made it to the final version.

Miss the last calls widget the X10 had as well.

I'm hoping to join you mate... You being happy with an SE again makes me think I could be too...

Posted by Avinash
I have to say, I am pretty happy with the Arc. Even though I am a SE fan, I stayed away from Sony Ericsson for the past 2 to 3 years because I wasn't too happy with SE's phones. The Arc seems like a good come back...

Bear in mind I have been away from for 2 years and used the iPhone 3GS and 4, so am really happy with it

Posted by doministry
Guys don't worry. Arc is really good and absolutely firm. Top notch.
It's like 16 days without any reboot. It's really really smooth and stable.
I'm not crazy about downloading apps all the time though.
Anyway whatever I do - it works well. I'm still surprised a bit.

Hey guys! I am just wondering if there is a messaging app that lets you know when an SMS was sent to you, and what time you receive it.

Like on the old phones, you could go into message details and it would tell you..

*Message Sender*
Sent : 13:42
Received : 15:23

Any help appreciated

Posted by moogoo
is there only one version of the arc or will there be a version that will work on AT&T 3G frequencies too? Or maybe it's already released?

Just curious...

Yeah, I was bearing that in mind mate and also taking into account your comments over the years etc... Both of us are long time members who jumped the SE ship due to shoddy phones, so I definately value your opinion... I know if it was crap, you'd say so without a second thought!

Hi Guys

Just installed playstation pocket on my arc

Thanks
Paul

Posted by Webalistic
Hi,

My Arc keeps freezing up. Sometimes apps freeze (no specific ones), but a lot of times the phone freeze when going back to the home screen and after a while I get the popup with the force close/wait options.

Any tips on finding the culprit? I want to keep the full reset as a last resort, because I don't want to spend days getting everything back in order (again). Not running any special stuff. (switchpro widget, some volume widget, advanced task killer, battery time). I've already cleared some data here and there to no avail.

Thanx

Mathieu

@Caspa

Damn you know me well

The does what it is meant too... The screen is great, audio is great (paired with my IE6's) and overall very pleased with it... I am really happy with the battery - 2 days use, took a few weeks to get there... Plus I only install what I use.

@xperia_man

Where did you get playstation pocket from?

It can be specific app causing this.
Or those tools to improve performance.
