Well when I called SE at lunchtime they said the delivery had only just arrived. So may take longer to filter through to stores. Money is now pending from my account

Posted by esoqq
Anyone wanting one SIM-free in UK can also order from expansys.com as they now have stock for delivery tomorrow (£424.99). I used www.quidco.com to get 5% cash back on the order, so it works out cheaper than other places, even after paying a little extra for next day delivery. They are bundling a free car charger too, which I didn't notice until the order confirmation was emailed to me.

Posted by dibdin
Right, called Carphone again and they now have stock which is currently in their warehouse which needs to be checked before going on the system however long that will take. If I'm lucky I MAY get it by Friday.

Posted by SE-Naz
Ordered mine on Clove.co.uk

They matched it to CPW including delivery as they charge...

They have stock...

Posted by SE-Naz
@dibdin

Clove have stock available so you can be 100% sure you will get but need to order quick

Posted by Bonovox
I had an N8 from Clove they delivered fast. I am sure these will all sell well ya know due massive interest before release. GSM Arena showing all current new Xperia phones as the most popular daily.

Are they shipping today? I called early this afternoon and they said that they're not sending out till tomorrow. Maybe they had a change of heart.

Posted by SE-Naz
They will ship tomorrow... which is fine for me as I am not around tomorrow and I am off on Friday so can have a good play around...

Posted by dibdin
Been told I will have mine for Friday, so I eagerly await for Friday to come along and spend many hours that day playing with my new toy.

Carphone have told me they have stock of the Misty Silver as well as the Midnight Blue.

Posted by SE-Naz
I went midnight blue... as I showed to a lady friend she liked that more then the silver...

Posted by dibdin
Yeah, midnight blue is the more appealing, well it is to me anyway.

I will sit having breakfast looking out for the delivery van. I have to look out foe when deliveries arrive cos our place is No.5a and there is also a No.5 on same side. So I have to make sure they don't goto wrong house. We just got odd numbers

That Engadget review was a little critical I say. Slagging off the display & other stuff. Saying the Samsung Nexus S has a better display. I think not after having it I thought it was shit. S-AMOLED displays to me look too pixelated @laffen can we please have Arc Avatars

Have a look at part 2 review of 'What Mobile' has to say about the Arc's screen....they speak very highly of it. Most of what I have read and videos that I have seen regarding the Arc's screen have been very positive. Unfortunately I am having trouble adding the link for part 2 review of the Arc at the moment.

Maybe someone can post it on this thread at some point.

Posted by Bonovox
See,Engadget says the screen on Arc & Play were crap, yet others say it is stunning!! And the good news is it has an air tight seal around it so no dust!! They said back speaker is tinny

Engadget dont know what they are talking about... They also dont like the concave back of the arc! Hell, that's the thing about the arc! It's gorgous... (Did I spell that right??)

Posted by Bonovox
Well, from someone who says he was not into slim phones(domipost)he even said the Arc was great in the hand so that speaks volumes!! Tomorrow is a great day for me One question, when the phone is plugged into the tv,can you also operate the camera & see the viewfinder on tv??

Nearly every review and article I have read on the Arc rave how nice this phone feels in the hand. I would rather side with the majority who say that not the minority.

Posted by Bonovox
At the end of the day it is personal opinion. I mean a reviewer should never be biased towards one manufacturer. It sounds to me like Engadget don't like much.

Posted by dibdin
I am looking forward to hearing what GSM arena have to say about the Arc, hopefully it won't be that ling till they review it.

Posted by justus333
A User on "Telefon-Treff" has published some fotos made with the arc, that I think are very impressive. Scroll down to the bottom of the page! The tins were shot in a pitch dark environment!

@doministry: You dont have to reencode most of the videos, thanks to an app called RockPlayer, it plays .mp4, .mkv, .avi, .mpg and .wmv files with no problems...

In my X10, the only videos that lag using Rockplayer are HD Videos, especially .MKV's....

This was the main reason i bought my X10, since I wanted to watch videos directly, without having to reencode them.

Hope it helps...

Thank you! But my other question is:
what about the native player?!

Posted by Bonovox
@ardian that was a good review in the link you posted. It had some nice pics of the Arc which made it look sexy & it does take great pics imo.

Posted by SKIBBE
@doministry i guess the native player cant handle mkv's would have been a great sales argument?

Posted by marcink
c'mon, are you blind or sth? These photos are just ok, but nothing more. Washed out colours, lack of detail, etc. They have Sony herritage all over them which is nothing good at all. Inferior even to X10's quality:( Just do some comarison, to me, looking for a modern phone with good camera, such quality disqualifies both Arc and Neo, which probably uses the very samec camera. What a pity, Arc looks so sexy.

Right, but besides mkv I should not be forced to encode anything I guess.

It is often the person behind the camera & to me them photos are not bad & they have good colour(yes,I have my glasses on with a full HD monitor). There is a bit of blurriness but that could be down to light or camera shake. You think this is lack of colour?? @marcink what you gotta remember is also who is behind the camera. I have got some great shots from a fixed focus x8 such as this shot

That's a great shot of those tin cans! Colours are sharp and vibrant imo.

Posted by Bonovox
These test shots are never good some photographers are just shit imo. Not saying I am perfect but I know how to get a decent shot.

Posted by HxH
After read and look on some reviews available, only good of Exmor R is pick up more light than conventional sensor.
It's up to backlit type itself nothing special IMHO and also bring up more noise as well, which may not worthy upgrade from my ages SATIO as I hope when only compare to camera department. Anyway, I will consider it later after XPERIA Arc get some tweaks in following months.

Btw, too much sharpen and over-saturated colors for me, I like accuracy natural one it really should have switch for vivid mode like N8.

Posted by Bonovox
Well,it seems as good if not better than most phone cameras in low light you just gotta mess with settings tweak it here & there to get a decent shot. That is what photography is all about experimenting. People just point & shoot & seem to expect miracles. You gotta work to get a decent shot. The Satio produces noisy shots imo. Yes there is nosie in Arc photos but there is in EVERY camera or camera phone. The N8 is good but in low light only good with Xenon

Ok, they are fine, but i like more those from optimus 2x or even x10. These photos set a new record in overprocessing. Don't you see that? You may even go to gsmarena and compare with x10 , optimus 2x and other non Exmor cameras. Fancy makreting buzz means nothing, when real life doesn't follow....
...ouch, it's a disaster. Those outdor shots are at ISO-80 and still full of Chroma noise:(

Whatever you say............i am off to sleep now so tired today not slept well last night. Gotta get up early for my Arc delivery. Also very tired of listening to people saying how crap something is if you don't like it don't come in the thread we already had enough of Toney_Ericsson and his HTC. Goodnight.

Posted by Toney_Ericsson
Hahaha I haven't even posted anything recently and your mentioning my name.

Why aren't others allowed to have an opinion, it's pretty obvious the Arc isn't nothing special anyway.

Any time someone says ah that camera isn't much better than the X10 or something you get this oh yes it is oh no it isn't rubbish on here.

Spoke to someone earlier I know in Phones 4U that had a demo of it and even she said it wasn't any good and that the DHD is better.

Face facts its a low RAM plastic piece of crap.

Posted by Lightspeed_x
@Doministry: Dont know about the arc, but in my X10, the system player just handles .MP4, so you would have to either encode or install Rockplayer...
