2 days is pretty nice indeed... much better than charging every night for some modern smartphones !!

I wonder how it will last with my usage ( WiFi + BT always on )

Posted by dibdin
2 days is pretty good indeed, but considering the length of time I am on a phone I would be surprised if it would last more than 10 hours say.

Can see me getting a spare battery when they become available.

Posted by HxH
You might consider this alternative solution instead of carry another battery, I think it very useful one for hungry-power mobile today and also can use with other kind of devices as well.

I would consider to buy later I get the Arc by end of this year

It have 2 version of integrates battery 2500 mAh and 5000 mAh and other one it need charged battery

http://www.eneloop.info/products/mobile-booster.html

The Mobile Booster KBC-L2S is ideal for devices with high power needs such as the Iphone (3G, 3GS, 4). It is particularly powerful due to its two lithium-ion batteries!!

Shame boosters rape the point of having a smooth phone if you have to carry a booster pack around

Don't know if this helps, but whilst looking on another forum I found someone who was in possession of the Arc saying this:

"I must tell you that one of the first things that caught my attention once I got to use this phone was the audio quality, excellent audio quality on calls and in music player, but I had yet to try it on a video which is just what I did. I shot two videos, one with my co-worker and I chatting in the office and it was superb, the second one we were completely silent and with the office door closed we were able to hear everything that was going on outside of the office in the video and picked up the slightest noise. I'm sure that pretty much gives you a good idea of the quality."

Excellent!! Well, the Neo should be good aswell then!!

Its annoying that there is lack of promotion from SE.

I was going to get the arc but the Play commercials are coming in by the dozen and now I want the play.

Can someone answer me this?? I seen a video of the Arc & Neo & in the menus showed the BRAVIA function can be turned on or off. Does that mean turning it on is going to use more battery power??

Also can anyone confirm by pressing the home button turns the phone back on from standby mode??

Review from norwegian website (mobili.no) says this is a very good phone and they are impressed by the camera : This is a clear candidate to be the best camera phone we see this year, no doubt. The combination of ease of use, quick startup time and very good image quality is simply a hit here

Posted by Bonovox
And the Neo as it has same camera

Posted by SKIBBE
The booster pack looked cool, but nothing i would like to carry around. but if i know i am gona travel let say and not beeing able to charge, it would be a nice thing to have to get more juice to see movies/play games.

Does anyone know if there will be an official dockstation/similiar? been searching the web for some generic ones. any idea tips?

Posted by dibdin
I can't wait to get my Arc.

Posted by SKIBBE
is it the same micro-usb connection as the x10i ? i have a car-charger and will i be able to use that one for the Arc?

About Booster Pack and those concern of package, it not that heavy one. I saw it myself for 5000 mAh unit some months ago, very light weight simple and easy to use just put it in your bag that's all. )

Yep

On the contrary I read somewhere that the Bravia engine saves battery whilst enhancing image quality, that statement kind got me sold over the feature. I'll try to dig into it and see if I can find it anywhere...

I know no dock stations, stands or similar things for Arc. even thought I'm dying to have one ( of course after having Arc it self )

the problem with Arc is the location of USB & HDMI ports, they are in the wrong side if you think about dock station, both need to be near the 3.5mm jack in the left side of the phone

It does though we shall compete in camera shootouts @mode yes cool thanks. Sorry if I am asking alot of questions about my Neo in Arc thread its just not as many people are talking in Neo thread. But I prefer Neo overall much nicer device imo. They are the same phone almost but in different skin

The distance between are from the top part of the screen and the upper edge of the phone. The percentage of the phones total height is also interesting to look at.

Xperia arc: 16.5mm (13.2% of the phones total height)
Xperia X10: 10mm (8.4% of the phones total height)
Xperia X8: 16.8mm (17% of the phones total height)
Samsung Galaxy S: 16.0mm (14% of the phones total height)
Apple iPhone 4: 19.3mm (16.8% of the phones total height)

Well, this says it all really and backs up what I've been saying, the X10 is a more balanced design. It's screen's top border accounts for only 8.4% of the phone, versus 13.2% on the Arc. It's nice to be right...again!

I think the same regarding the Arc over the Neo. I quite like the look of the Neo, but not that keen on the shaping at the top of the phone.

Posted by SKIBBE
@Xajel don't think the ports are that big of a problem, there is always room for solutions. and you can turn the phone so that the USB connector is down to make it connect without a cabel in the stand. i hope they make one, or i will have to buy some generic one with a "sticky" surface that just holds the phone i some angle

That's why I also prefer Neo Tue jack is on the top so when in your pocket its better. Not the only reason I prefer Neo

Posted by HxH
Probably will supply L-Shape jack for the Arc, it only things regard of dislike the Arc
(3.5mm jack on the side and Black glossy plastic and tiny shutter which look not comfortable to use)

Anyway, it still my primary target.

Not just probably, but that's exactly what provides as shown in the unboxing video below around 0:48.

re: arc's forehead
The gap above the screen isn't huge, not at all, but what makes it look odd is the gap at the bottom being so narrow. If it were greater than or equal to the forehead the phone would look much better. I have no doubt that this is due to the camera module, 3.5mm jack, hdmi and usb ports are all in that top area, therefore having the screen up there would impact on arc's sensational shape.

I'm still only 85-90% happy with forking over 400+ GBP for this handset on spec and press pics.

The forehead may be a bit cooler to look at in person, more like an Elvis quiff than a receding hairline.

Posted by Bonovox
Elvis quiff Nah ya can't beat the Neo curves

Ha Ha I like it.

I still think the Arc looks sensational, breathtaking and awe inspiring. The Arc is miles better looking than the Neo imo, but that's not to say there not both great phones.

Posted by Bonovox
Am just too damn impatient cos I just called Sony Ericsson sales again and they sad Neo will be in their warehouse on 31st March and sent out by 1st April. God damn the wait is killing me cos I cannot wait to get creative with its great camera. How fast the camera is on the Arc and Neo is impressive so action shots are going to be easy.

Does the Neo act in the same way as the Arc, that when you take a photo you can tap the display as well as using the shutter button if you wanted to instead??

Do you know of any great apps for good wallpapers?? I use Zedge and Flikie from time to time, and they seem have to have a good range of stuff and pretty good quality too.

Posted by SKIBBE
@dibdin i just search google, and resize/crop/sharpen whatever in photoshop. never tried any wallpaper app

Pollyanna from the gadget show says about the Arc:

Had a great play on my xperiaarc yesterday, I'm officially in love, feels amazing, so speedy, brilliant super quick touchscreen.

Colours are vivid and playback....wow!!

someone asks how does it compare to the retina display???

equal if not better, SE have excelled themselves.

Posted by Bonovox
Yeah it is so hard to tell how good the screen is on videos online EDIT: Just seen 2 videos from Jason Bradbury from Gadget Show on Expansys TV Channel but the links are far too long cannot arsed to write them. He reviews Arc & Play

not so difficult actually!

" The arc cant be beaten"
He really is mesmerized by the Arc and Im starting to be too!

I phoned Carphonewarehouse about my contract update earlier and the guy on the phone was lucky enough to have a play with the Play, Arc and Neo.

He said it's his personal choice, and most of the customers phoning in for upgrades/sales are choosing the Arc out of the three.

I for one cannot wait for this phone!

Posted by doministry
Well after a break I will be back with SE I guess.
Just ordered Arc. We'll see how it goes.
