The Arc looks stunning in both colours. I have to say that as I am getting the Midnight Blue.

Just been checking on the Carphonewarehouse website, and it's saying Xperia Arc is in stock?

Posted by Bonovox
I guess it is not on pay as you go yet as it would be cheaper. But they never always put them on pay as you go straight away.EDIT: just checked their site & it says pre order for 28th March

It's just changed from in stock to 'back order' now.

Posted by dibdin
I only called carphone yesterday afternoon, and I was told by a member of staff that they don't except it in stock till April 1st.

I was able to test the arc and play tonight and i must say i´m very pleased.

The feeling in arc´s touch, the screen and how fast it was, i´m overhelmed. its was fantastic.

The touch is way better than iPhone, its the best i have tested so far.

The wait for this thing is killing me.

Posted by Bonovox
Yes its killing me for my Neo too. I just posted a link of it in that thread of someone taking pics in the dark and the flash looks bright

Just ordered the Xperia Arc "midnight blue" for 4861 SEK/470£/542€

But i saw that my provider had the silver one for 5395 SEK/522£/602€ (Not sim-free, but ships with a 16gb SD) (and i guess it will take some time before i would be enable to get the generic fw anyways)

bad choice in color?

Dude, that seems expensive. I think it's about 420-430 in the UK.. sim-free. 16GB card is cool though, saying that I already have a 32GB card in my X10.

Posted by >500
seeing as though Arc is currently the flagship. I can see bundling most markets with a 16gb card. Where as Neo is getting 8gb. Since they are quite similar, maybe the difference in included memory will be one thing?? we'll soon see

Posted by se_dude
In India its priced at around 28000INR. That amounts to 380GBP.Cheapest of the lot?

Posted by HYPER-X10
No. Handtec price less VAT is 344.99.

Posted by SKIBBE
@Ricky D Yeah it's never cheap here in Sweden :/ i found some store that was pricing it 435£ but never heard of it, and looked kinda "not promesing what they say in the end"

so better to be safe than sorry imo

Posted by HxH
It never cheap but it most likely get better or exclusive bundle which other regions might not supply it

India price tag almost cheap as here my country Thailand but it already postponed for a month for walk-in if you don't have pre-order.

BTW is that something unique to Sony Ericssons latest handsets, or is it to do with Gingerbread??

Hmm, where have you calculated the exchangerate? For 4861 SEK I'll get: 524€/452£.

I will go for the misty silver But that's my opinion

Nice! Even Sexy!

This their answer to iPv4 and Desire I guess?

Like the "backbone" curve in the design, makes the two above decidely "slabby" or should I say a bit like bricks

Ironic, ten years ago everyone would have been posting about how infatibly small their mobile was.

Dont know if this video of the Arc and Neo has been already posted but here goes

@Killmaster09
in google as i always do, just "search" for "4861 sek to gbp" and the answer is "4861 Swedish kronor = 471.74086 British pounds" may differ some due to it is updated several times a day i guess.

And for the color, the Misty silver makes the "screen" look non centred. i know it is with the Midnight blue too, but it's not that obvious when everything is black

That is very true, hence why i have decided to go for the Midnight Blue.

Xperia Arc vs iPhone 4 video recording...

Xperia Arc has more accurate colours.

Arc wins convincingly.

I was fortunate to have a few hours with the Arc today. Very nice phone. Immediate impressions are that it is much lighter than i thought and for its proportions is quite remarkable. In fact, it sat very well in the hand. It felt robust too and as a user of it's predecessor i can say that's no easy feat.

Screen is astonishing in clarity and the UI was very slick. Took a few photos and the HD camera was a marked improvement on the x10. Of course, this is running boggo standard software and in it's present form, it ran very well. I have some some high aspirations for this handset.

Don't forget the better sound. iP4 sound is just lower and I think when there's some rush it will become unclear..

I think the back noise-cancelling microphone might be used for video recording as it will make much sense than the regular calling microphone. or both can be used also...

Thanks for the info Popolou. It's all very encouraging so far.

What I would like to know if anyone has had any first hand experience of using the Arc outside, and give there opinion on how the screen fares in direct sunlight.

I have always thought that the gap between the top part of the Xperia arc and the top part of the display has been annoying. But then I gave it a bit of thought, and did some measurements on other devices to see how much the gap actually is. Here are some measurements (showing that the screen of the Xperia arc is actually not that far off the upper edge compared to other phones…). The distance between are from the top part of the screen and the upper edge of the phone. The percentage of the phones total height is also interesting to look at.

Xperia arc: 16.5mm (13.2% of the phones total height)
Xperia X10: 10mm (8.4% of the phones total height)
Xperia X8: 16.8mm (17% of the phones total height)
Samsung Galaxy S: 16.0mm (14% of the phones total height)
Apple iPhone 4: 19.3mm (16.8% of the phones total height)

Any one who owned the phone for a while, any news about battery life ?

Posted by SKIBBE
@Gud When you don't trust your own eyes, math is always the solution

@Xajel No one has owned it yet, and if someone had it for some time it has been a pre-fw and not to be judged upon

A guy from se4m.com has the phone and AFAIK it's the final fw... I asked him before when he first had the phone but as you know, first time always get under time duo to heavy using... so I just asked him again

What is the call clarity like?? As the new Xperia range all have HD voice it should be better than the piss poor x10 earpiece. Also is there a HDMI cable in the box?? I ask as I am getting Neo with same specs. Thanks

according to the reviews i've seen it lasts around 2 days of moderate to heavy usage

Posted by Bonovox
Well, for a thin phone with such power under it's bonnet that is good

Posted by SKIBBE
2 days is 1.5 days longer than i get now with wolfbreaks 2.2 rom
