21st March! That's great news! Less than two weeks.
Don't think it will be available on that date here in the UK, on Play it says 1st April and on MobileFun they haven't even got a date for it's release yet.

My last Sony Ericsson was the C905...looking forward to having the Arc as my new phone.

I know its a little early, but will there be screen protectors available for the Arc once its released?
At least in Sweden, a screen protector and a case/pouch will be provided in the box (not sure how they looks like), along with a 16 GB card, a wired headset, charger and a HDMI cable.

Is the reality display on the Arc superior to S-LCD??

I've noticed that Play.com have changed the release date from 1st April to 29th March and the price has gone down from £449.99 to £429.99

Clove.co.uk look to be selling the Arc cheapest at £420.00

I think it will be 1-2 weeks delay here in Bahrain, I just called the dealer ( Fakhro Electronics ), she said 1st week of April, and I asked her about the price, she said BD225 ($297 / €430)... but you have the full right of using salt on these coz our dealers staff in most cases don't know a thing !! I asked her about the price is that is sure ? she laughed and said appropriately

I really do hope that it is available from operators before the initial release date of April 1st. I'm off to Lisbon on that date and it would be fantastic to be able take this phone along and put the camera through it's paces.

The initial release date is not 1 April, remember that the official release is in Q1 which ends in 31 March... so if
really wanted to be accurate and true about the Q1, then all main and major market should have Arc in late March

Really good video of the Xperia Arc.
It's very simple and gets the point across

I CAN NOT wait for this phone, and I am due an upgrade

Still want to know what video format is needed to play HD/720p movies x264/mkv and i am in love! (not needing to convert any of my movies, if i do i will probably never use the hdmi function) and does the sensors work if you flip it to horisontal and want to play games on the tv(most games are landscape mode)
Posted by northmonkey
I'm really torn whether to get the Arc or the Nokia N8, I suppose it depends on the camera quality and how good low light shots are with the Exmor R Sensor.
Posted by HxH
Better wait till Arc come out, I'm quite sure that Exmor R will be top priority in camera test field, after all if it not satisfy N8 still open the door wait for you but sluggish symbian is NOT for me anymore

Yeah Symbian puts me off getting an N8 as i much prefer Android but i also want a phone with a high quality camera on it that can perform well in all conditions and i am hoping that the Arc will do that.

Hello...
I was lucky enough to have a chance to play with Xperia Arc and Neo today, in an exclusive preview held by Sony Ericsson Indonesia.
There was also the Pro but unfortunately cannot be turned on, don't know why.
My first impression is... I really want this amazing device!
The screen is superb, the sound is quiet good, the menu is so fast and the UI is great.
I tried playing video in Arc and connected to Sony Bravia TV thru mini HDMI port and it's played so smooth without delay.
The phone activities can also be seen on TV, it's great to play games there.
I tried the camera also, the Exmor R makes it amazing in low light. I compared the screen and camera of Arc to X10 and Desire Z and the results is Arc is far superior than X10 and Desire Z.
Neo is also good, I love the red one.
And BTW, pre-order for Xperia Arc will be opened starting March 16, 2011 in Indonesia with the price of IDR 5,499,000.
There is special offer with IDR 500,000 discount using credit card from a local bank issuer for the first 500 unit pre-ordered from March, 26 to April 8, 2011.
The device will be available from April 8, 2011.

The display on the TV is what you see on the Arc, it can be landscape or portrait.

Design is the main selling point of Arc and SE made it right, the build quality is good, solid and better than X10.

Both of them.
There is a very little "dark blue" in the bottom of the back cover...
I like the silver one very much and it will be my choice.

Simply because it's unique. Midnight Blue is basically a black and black color's smartphone is everywhere, silver is rare and I like the silver of Arc.

the pink one was really cool and unique tobad it was japan only?

I am going for a Midnight Blue Arc to replace my X10
Clove is the best place I have found them for in the UK Sim Free.
Posted by northmonkey
Is the keyboard more spaced out with it having a bigger screen? i always found i hit other letters on the X10.

I am going for the Midnight Blue too. Yes, Clove looks to be selling it cheapest so far.

I have used Clove they are excellent

@northmonkey
there are many other keybords you can use, i prefer "smart keybord pro" first app i bought it has different skin, including iphone skin. you can adjust the hight of the keybord in landscape/portrait if you like, thus making the keys more spaced out (in the hight direction) but it uses more of the screen obv.
Posted by Xajel
Currently I think the Midnight blue is my choice, but I'll wait to hold both colors in my hands to take the final decision... what I hate now about the misty silver is the border where the edge of the screen and the rest of the phone is, I feel it doesn't look that well, at least in the pics... but the overall color of the Misty Silver is very nice... that's why I'm waiting to see both colors in my hands...
I just hope the dealer brings both colors and not just one color first.. coz I know I'll not resist buy the only color available... I've done that with my Satio ( red ) and also my laptop ( red ) where I wanted both being Black !!
Posted by dibdin
I find the Midnight Blue more sleek and cool looking than the Misty Silver personally, but the only thing with the Midnight Blue is it's going to attract many finger prints as opposed to the Misty Silver.
I can live with that though as such a nice looking device.

I'm hanging out for the arc but I give up with
colour choice as rarely can I get my preference at launch.
in fact, the mocha w890 was the last time I actually got what I wanted but I had to import that from HK
mind you, even Apple can't give me what I want as they couldn't, and still can't, deliver the white iP4! (they promise I can have a white iPad in 2 weeks though

Looking at this video how did the guy turn off and on the bravia engine without going into the menu?
Is he pressing the volume key or camera or something?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxRUwq2Amfk
Posted by Platia1
There were some prototypes that were made that had the Bravia Engine mapped to the volume buttons so it could be switched on and off easily and to show the effects.
