loving the design...finally a touchscreen phone that looks sexy! IMO x10 and maybe iphone4 have been the only touchscreen phones previously which have looked nice! but this phone is way better designwise than any other touchscreen phone on the market! this alone would help it sell quite well

one thing i m a little disappointed about though is that have still decided not to add better codec support...like divx and xvid....c'mon a phone with reality display and bravia engine...but no great codec support??? do they still expect everyone to keep converting videos to enjoy on that screen! i think this is quite a shame...and really hope they include these codecs natively in the future as most other manufacturers seem to be doing!

while there is no mention of sound equaliser i do remember seeing in the gingerbread demo it had better support for dsp and stuff in media....and they did have some kind of equaliser if i am not wrong...so hopefully it is there

SE really succeed this one.
I mean it's a big step forward for the company undoubtably, the missing thing is the front facing camera and we will have to see how multitasking does work but the device seem blazing fast.

I wonder how this would fair in your pocket? Looks like the headphone socket is on the side and not on the top. So, you would have you headphones sticking out at the side. Possibly might bend it or break it in a pocket? Wonder if the stock SE ones will be L shaped or straight shaped.

Sexy looking though, and is different from the run of the mill slabs you see these days.

Why not reverse the HDMI port on top with the headphone port on the side. I am sure most people will listen to music than be jacked into an HDMI socket?

Cheers,

A few new photos taken by Xperia Arc (LT15i): http://picasaweb.google.com/l[....]G&cuname=ulfmjonsson&filter=1#
And even more photos by Hallon (MT15i) http://picasaweb.google.com/ulfmjonsson/2011Skridsko#

There are definitely room for improvements

Posted by adsada
Question, will this have an external battery which can be removed? Or will it be internal and unremovable?

It's removable ofcourse, only crappy phones have unremovable battery...

i think both arc and hallon have the same camera modules in them! the resolution of the photos are the same, and I think even the lens used are the same as both have f2.4 aperture!

@kewsvnet: It's a joke ^^ but I am sure that a satio like dual core 16 mpx is coming in september to november 2011.

Isn't that the same as to what I said? The front is Black and the back/battery cover is Dark Blue???

Note: I have brightened the image a bit.

Yus! Good stuff, I know SE always does this, but I thought that how thin it is, there is no way an external battery could be fitted. Awesome.

Not only that, the battery is a "big" one too (1500 mAh, same as for X10).

And here is much more about the Xperia play:

I like the sound when they're opening the controls, seems pretty solid.

Most Impressive!!
This choice by SE - which I was worried that Gingerbread and Honeycomb would suffer in performance - is looking MORE & MORE promising!

CPU: MSM8255, 1Ghz, based on ARMv7 (with many instruction sets from Cortex A8; Qualcomm's proven proprietary designs), Scorpion class, Adreno 205 GPU, 45nm (advanced and very modern trend), supports: GSM, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS/WCDMA, HSDPA, HSUPA, HSPA+ and finally ... is used by the following mobiles: Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, HTC Desire HD, T-Mobile myTouch 4G, Sharp GALAPAGOS 003SH/005SH.
Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snapdragon_(System_on_Chip)

The dual-core MSM8260 (3G), MSM8660 (CDMA/3G) both 1.2Ghz & the other dual-core QSD8672 are all 45nm based lithography and use the Adreno 220 GPU a slight step up in graphics performance. So the ARC will do JUST FINE as shown in this video.

Anyone else thinks its time SE get on the Tablet bandwagon too or?

Why this micoUSB look different than standard ones ?

don't tell me they made another property one !!
unless regular standard cables can be used normally

Posted by Supa_Fly
I think connector simply has more excess plastic around the connector making it rectangular, that's all.

Its too bad that Arc doesn't have Front cam I wish it had.
Even my P1i had.i know its not so important but still some times it will be very useful.
Thought that the sensor was the cam.
Dont understand Why is the SENSOR SO BIG compared to other xperia sensor's??

Posted by ^^HAMID^^
finally does it have OTG?

is there any official source confirm it??

I think I've read it'd cost about 500 euros... but I don't know if that's correct.

About the microUSB - they should've put a plastic cap to hide it (like in Vivaz). It's too exposed this way.

OTG?

Looks good ...

Lets hope the software department comes to the part and rollout a solid firmware ...

Unlike what they are doing to x10 ... just behind all the time ... with Android ...

Finally decent LCD (16M colors), Multitouch and a recent Android version in a SE phone. Still no front camera though (so no Skype) but certainly an improvement over a crappy X10.

It's a TFT screen.

Source:- Gsmarena.com -->> Sony Ericsson XPERIA Arc hands-on pictures and video

Unlike its X10 predecessor, the Arc is fast and responsive all the time, without any interface glitches, loadings or noticeable lag whatsoever. And this is just a pre-release unit with the software being far from final. We expect the retail Arc to be an excellent performer.

GSMarena Mentions that There is a Secondary CAM..
This is really confusing

It really does look like SE has put a lot of work into making sure the arc is a vast improvement on the X10. It's all looking good so far.

Posted by Arne Anka
Apperently not. I suppose releases prior honeycomb are only intended for phones while honeycomb and forward will support both phones and tablets.

The majority of previews I've read think the screen is good, one of the better ones. Does it really have to be the best to be good enough? I think the differences are so small between the screens that it's more subjective than objective which is the best one.

Posted by SKIBBE
you will never get your hands on a phone that is the best in every aspect. as with everything else in life, you will have to take the bad with the good i think the phone looks beautifull, but i already own the x10 and it will be to expensive to buy this one too but i would really like to have it

I dunno why this is confusing everyone. Watch this:

...and get an idea of how Honeycomb would the same underlying architecture, but have different UI elements for tablets and phones.

The display is brilliant None of the prototypes have been fully calibrated yet. Some are better than others at this point in time. Or at least, that's what I was told earlier today.

Not too happy about the back cover. It's made of glossy plastic and feels a bit cheap. The phone itself, however, is really great

I've got a short video coming soon.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Some metal parts (e.g. the back cover or the frame) would have made the phone a bit more luxury.

Its probably because of costing back plastic is cheaper but over all it looks good
