HELSINKI, Dec 14 (Reuters) - Nokia, the world's biggest cellphone maker by volume, said on Tuesday it planned to cut about 800 jobs in its home Finnish market.
The company said in a statement it concluded negotiations with employee representatives on the planned reductions, which it plans to start putting into effect in January.
Nokia plans to offer severance packages worth 5-15 months of regular salary but hopes some of the employees affected will be relocated elsewhere in the company, it said.
A little more here.

Any explanation or reasons for this?
I'm not into economics..
And I noticed Nokia have over 130,000 employees! This is one huge company.
What would cutting 1800 worldwide, 800 of them in Finland, do in effect?!
Anyway, while I was reading, I noticed Nokia had about $55 billions revenue, and $1.2 billion profit last year.
Apple with 50,000 employees, have about $65 billions revenue, and $14 billions profit!
Of course, by Apple, it's meant the whole corporation, not just the iPhone segment.
