Its not about features. Its all about the hardware sadly. Features need to be backed by great hardware. You can't be at the top with great features + crappy hardware.
Let's talk about N8. It is kinda similar to Anzu. Mid range hardware and a flagship phone with some great features. USB OTG, the best camera in the market, FM transmitter and a lot more. But do these features make up for the uninspiring hardware and symbian OS ?
I guess we all know the answer.

And I hope you realize that dual core processors are actually more power efficient than single core.

Galaxy S sold 10 million units this year. X10 ? Hardly even 1/10th.
Second-
The difference between X10 and Galaxy S is much less than the difference between Anzu and Dual core smartphones.

I can say that some (if not the majority of) 8 MP cameras are worse than the 5 MP ones. I own a Vivaz and it's pictures aren't that good although they've 8 million pixels. C901's camera, for example, is much better than Vivaz's.
Plus, not everyone wants a giant 4" screen (this includes me as well). Mostly because it makes the device so much bigger (that's why I bought a Vivaz).

Ericsson is the leader in LTE development, soo...
LTE will in the next few years be able to reach amazing speeds, there will be no need for cables

We've heard of the mysterious, still-totally-unofficial PlayStation Phone running Android 2.2 in the past, but we'd also heard it could run 3.0 -- thing is, that was back before we knew Gingerbread would be 2.3, so it's possible that those 3.0 rumors ended up materializing as 2.3. Anyhow, this is the first time we're seeing the Xperia Play (or Zeus Z1, or whatever it'll end up being called) running 2.3 in the wild, doing its thing next to a white Xperia X10 to give you an idea of scale. The lucky poster actually has two of the phones available, so they seem to be leaking out of factories in sufficient quantities now to suggest that it'll likely be announced soon -- or so we hope, anyway. I have a galaxy s, yes on the outside it feels like cheap plastic crap, but under the hood it is a monster with hardware that works! Samsung have sold over 10 million of these, tell me how many X10s were sold?
I've had X10 mini pro, X10, motorola milestone, htc desire, htc desire z, heck I've even had htc desire hd (actually I still have that now aswell ) but guess what? I'm still using my galaxy s over all these other phones! Why? Imo it has ben the best android phone I have ever used.

There has been some debate as to how the new controls will work in practice and whilst I don't think they can really replace proper analogue sticks I'm presuming they have been developed and refined well enough to be a good enough replacement.

Well from announcement (mid-February) until April isn't too long 6-10 weeks? Which isn't so bad I suppose but yeah, it does seem as ready as it will ever be. If it takes 3-4 months for us to get our grubby fingers on, like phones have before, then that would be infuriating.
They need to get it shipping quickly and with a good selection of games which can take advantage of the special hardware controls in order to get the ball rolling.

Why can't they fit a smallish qwerty (SE P1/Blackberry-size) between the game controls. There is plenty of room. That WILL be a killer feature. I would get that over any slide out qwerty phones, even if I am not that into games.
