AFAIK he didn't say there will be in CES, he said Q1+Q2, and there's two shows in Q1 alone which are CES in Jan. ( 7-9 usually )... and WMC in Feb ( 17-19 usually )... and he said 4 phones in Q1+Q2 = 1H...

and that poster tells you will add more Xperia products in WMC... so I think your judgment is not true...

BTW, even if didn't announced any 3D thingy in WMC it doesn't mean his source is false or fake.. it might be a 2H product ( so it won't be ann. in either CES or WMC ).. or it might be cancelled in future... companies do start developing a lot of products but while in development they cancel them for several reasons, manufacturing, costs, developement, marketing, bla bla bla...

in basic words... no source, internal or external is 100% correct as stratigic decisions can change every thing later...

What do we know about Hallon?

Thanks Lolly. The codename Hallon has been around for around six months. Was it ever linked to the pic below and I was wondering if we established if that picture was fake or not?

Seems this device (the 5" QWERTY one) has been cancelled, we haven't seen it for a long time.

@goldenface - that isn't Hallon.

I'm not sure why anything more than 1GHz+ is required on a smartphone, except to boast about on tech blogs.

because i want high-end mobile and ofcourse it will be expensive
imagine sonyericsson have high-end mobile next year with 800 mhz Cpu cost about 550 euro
and samsung have high-end mobile with 1.2 mhz dual core Cpu and beter in everything else cost about 500 euro
what you will choose ?
for me i buy new mobile every 2 years so i have to make sure its the best in the market and its cpu and other thing is ahead so it can live with me for a year without fell its too old
the status of the company doesnt make you sad ? it does to me

Posted by Lollylost100
Don't be ridiculous. €550 is a fair exaggeration.

You're saying it's the same mistakes again, but realistically you cannot judge anything yet as they havent had the official announcement and price information.

Sony Ericsson certainly have learned a lot from their mistakes. One example is not taking WP7 on board .

You see.... I'm sure not taking WP7 is a big mistake. This is fantastic OS. They would gain alot.
However the fact that SE will not release WP7 is not 100% sure....

I see a company which can't get the spot on.
When they make a great product, successor is often problematic.
They have problem with support and continuity of their development.
Devices are often using older software.

And the leaks are not so impressive. Just my opinion.

Yes I take things with the grain of salt.

But again I am totally sure they make a mistake with WP7 IF IT'S TRUE.
Actually all the competitors do it exept Motorola.

Posted by juris15
no... not again with the 1GHz topic...
someone already mention that 800Mhz doesnt mean its slower than 1GHz...or am I wrong?
and if I remember correctly it can be clocked at 1GHz...

Posted by Lollylost100
As my dear friend sunrise from BlogSE.pl mentioned, Hallon will actually be a Vivaz successor with Android Gingerbread and a Qualcomm MSM7230 processor.

Why would 1ghz be enough then, especially if we are talking about high-end phones? The features that the phones are getting nowadays and will be getting in the future are very advanced such as FullHD video recording and playback, Flash 10.1, LTE, 3D screen and applications, etc. Faster CPU clocks make it easier for manufacturer to produce powerful phones and make the features I mentioned work flawless. Of course together with a stable software.

The LG 2X will do 1080p videos next month. Is the future here then? Just kidding.

Posted by avmaxfan
No need to defend for no reason. Let's face the facts. LG Optimus 2x is out next month with dual core Tegra2 and Full HD 1080p video encode and decode.
There is no NEED for CPU more than 800 mhz ??????? Are you kiddin me??????????

It isn't all about showing off or boasting on tech blogs. Do you not feel that smartphones today can do much more than what phone could do a few years back ? Are you saying you don't want the technology to move forward ?

Anyways back to the topic, the fact is 2011 will be the year of DUAL CORE smartphones. And will not be left behind.

Sony Ericsson is set to bring out three new Android phones in the first half of 2011, a source close to the matter has told TechRadar.

The first is (obviously) set to be the mooted PSP Phone, currently still running internally under the Zeus codename and likely to be part of the Xperia family.

The next two will be refreshes of phones in the existing line up, as Sony Ericsson looks to build on its fledgling Android renaissance.

Sony Ericsson likely to demo PSP phone in January

Hot on the heels of sending out an invite for an Xperia experience at Mobile World Congress, Sony Ericsson has invited UK media to a briefing on 6 January about 'how Sony Ericsson plans to enhance the Android experience for consumers'.

The Japanese-Swedish alliance will 'share its plans for 2011, including what's in-store for the Xperia line of devices' showing that there's certainly going to be more than one in the near future.

The obvious device to be shown off is the Sony Ericsson 'PSP phone', although that could well be called the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play after numerous domain names around that moniker were snaffled up by the company's Swedish PR team.

Xperia Arc - Hallon/ Vivaz Pro Android
Xperia Neo - Anzu ( "new" Xperia X10)
Xperia Duo - ?????????????

So it seems Xperia Play, Arc and Neo would be out in the first half. And Xperia duo will come in second half 2011.

Am very sure there is a dual core phone but as usual they will launch late.
But I dont understand why always get new names? Why not stick to Old type names?? Xperia Play is cool but not other names. It will confuse so many of us..

Posted by Lollylost100
It's easier to remember a name than a number .

Posted by avmaxfan
I personally prefer the new names

Anyways, there is a reason why want to play it safe and not launch a dual core smartphone in first half 2011 - Android Honeycomb !

Gingerbread is not optimized for dual core processors and as we know isn't very good with the software part . So perhaps they would like to launch the dual core phone with honeycomb to avoid any software issues.

Oh and P.S. Vivaz Android or Halon sports an EXMOR R camera module and will be the "cybershot" of the 2011 Xperia line up.

+1 for dual core with honeycomb nice idea by that time many more dual core chips should be out which should be better than Tegra2.
1 more thing what to expect from honeycomb, what features?is there any rumour yet?(i heard like 3.0 is basically for tablets) Will there be UXP for 3.0 ?

Posted by avmaxfan
Well not really. There won't be any "new" dual core option then. Just the main players - Samsung, TI, ST-Ericsson.
As for honeycomb, it will be used only on highest end smartphones with dual core architecture.
As for features we need to wait a few more weeks for honeycomb tablets to release.
