It's SE WP7 prototype, the same as here:
http://www.gsmarena.com/spy_s[....]hone_7_prototype-news-2392.php

rog said it was cancelled. No info about specs.

A simple yet VERY astute observation … something i haven't been concious about until you mentioned it. Makes me wonder why that is?! Why does a touch-screen or multi-touchscreen smartphone have to NOT have a dedicated camera button?!

Most smartphone platforms remember which home screen you've left off before launching an application. I only have 3 on my IP4 yet I know of MANY users on both iOS & Android having 6+ and swiping then tapping on camera takes LONGER to launch the camera app than a simple dedicated button. Weird.

is one of the first to adopt the dedicated camera button, and this put in a good advantage in the market it was a unique for to have most of it's phones from mid to high end have camera button.. even for non-cybershot phones and for non-camera oriented phones...

I'm very disappointed now that doesn't try to keep up with this... in Play I think they were forced duo to the Play other buttons design ( even thought I think they can manage a dual function button ).. but for a device like this... I wonder which excuse is giving.. reducing cost ??

Any news about a dual core device from SE? With the same hardware in all of their latest phones, the Arc isnt a flagship anymore. Its just a large screened version of the Neo, Azura,Mini etc. Any idea?

I read somewhere that QUALCOMM is sampling there Dual Core chips from Next month.[Does that mean they are mass producing this chip or wot?] some1 Care to explain, thx

Posted by Xajel
Qualcomm already have Dual-Cores ready and shipped and they're already being in use in several smartphones & tablets...

MSM8260 ( Already sampled in Q310, 1.2GHz dual-core, Adreno 220 GPU ) is used in HTC Sensation & ASUS Eee Pad MeMo...

MSM8660 ( same as MSM8260 but with 1.2 or 1.5GHz speed ) is used in HTC EVO 3D

even the next gen. chipsets MSM8270 & MSM8960 which are manufactured using 28nm are supposed to be already sampled ( Q211 scheduled )... no Quad Core in these, they just use 28nm and faster Adreno 225 GPU ( compared to Adreno 220 in previews gen )... I'm expecting seeing these in handsets late 2011 or early 2012... if want new chipsets these will be perfect for late 2011 release...

but lately Qualcomm announced new chipsets that are Dual and Quad Core, but as they are just ann. I suppose they didn't sample them yet...

Posted by smclion102
Thx Xajel

Oh wow so what are waiting for? Being it on

Posted by aamwng
The problem is... Are they going to use the new 28nm (which will be better than sgs2's 40nm and sensation's 45nm) or use the old snapdragon 45nm?

If we are to see 28nm dual core snapdragon on a se device, it will be next year q2. But if they are using the 45nm dual core snapdragon, q4 maybe? Since sensation is released, but it won't be as good as sgs2!

Se is not going to keep up with the others if they stick with qualcomm

Oh, I do agree very much that every phone should have a camera button and that it's a goot thing for SE to keep doing (dual function buttons would be simple and great on the Play). But the point I wanted to make is that it's just a pity, not a MAJOR flaw... Not even a major flaw

@razec Haha, thanx dude

Why have to wait for Qualcomm (which is pretty late in game and make slowly provide latest tech to consumers HTC Desire HD and XPERIA Arc for example), HTC and Microsoft even Apple this time rumour touted them as chipset manufacture for next gen iPhone.

can have best choice with ST-Ericsson ultimately powerful hardware with combining of A9600 (Cortex A15 @2.5Ghz 28nm w/ Rogue) + M5730 (Samsung also using this in their 4G phone in America) and more important it likely to have sampling now.

If they still stick with Qualcomm whatever cause of contract or deal, I hope they would bring out their dual core thing with Qualcomm Krait which is manufacture at 28nm and come with Adreno 225 as well, if they only come up with MSM8260 like HTC Sensation follow footstep of Desire HD it just will be big time suicide and can't keep compete in this fierce market for any longer because latest tech stuff will throw out from head to toes Cortex A15 platform DDR3 from TI and latest awesomeness mobile graphic chip from Imagination which currently ST-Ericsson only using them on their platform A9600 Novathor.

just my two cents!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=es2iEHKUrG8

so this is might be benefit from paired with Qualcomm?

and what for the rest? Imagination's PowerVR / Arm's Mali / Nvidia's Tegra
For Nvidia might not affect much because of Tegra Zone HD content in developing as well

It's little remind me of time when Nvidia and ATi play catch up in graphic card sells with exclusively games
(Crysis for example ATi card never perform well on this game)

Toshiba and Sony announced unification for the manufacture of LCD for Sony Ericsson smartphones, tablets and other devices..

According to DisplaySearch report, the United States in 2010, Sharp is standing in the top 14.8 percent. The second-place Samsung Electronics 11.9 percent of Taiwan’s Chi Mei Optoelectronics 11.7% third, 9.2 percent in the fourth Toshiba, in fifth place in Taiwan’s optoelectronic 7.1 percent, 6.3 percent of Hitachi Displays, the sixth , 6.1% in Sony seventh, No. 8 LG Korea has become 5.8 percent of the display. The consolidation of small and medium businesses that Toshiba and Sony LCD panel, simple calculation becomes 9.2% +6.1% = 15.3%, lead the field. The investment fund of the Japanese government Innovation Network will invest about 100 billion yen ($ 1.24 billion) and will hold 70% to 80% of the company resulting from the merger, the Nikkei said, citing sources.

The two Japanese automakers plan to enter an agreement before the end of June and be the company later this year, details the Nikkei in its online edition. The company integrates Toshiba Mobile Display, which controls 9.2% of the global market for LCDs small and medium-sized, and Sony Mobile Display, which has 6.1% market share, so the two snatched the world leadership of Sharp , which maintains a fraction of the market by 14.8%.

off topic
Now the LCD screen sud become cheaper in a while n this cud cut down the cost

Mix & txt pro are announced, I can't be arsed to open a thread for them, only this: RRP in Germany is 119 € for each of them.

Posted by se_dude
@xell- whats the processor used in both?

Posted by Platia1
Not sure why it matters, they aren't Android

Posted by se_dude
Well, features phone need a proper processor too given the state of yendo which stutters at the most basic of tasks. If this thing runs properly, can help SE build a proper base in the low end market.

Think we'll have to wait for the white papers for that... RAM is 64 megs.

Posted by Karun
Hope they have a better processor than the 156 MHz unit in the Yendo.

Posted by razec
The CPU is PNX-4910 processor, i don't know the rest of the details, 64MB is fine as long as the browser doesn't use a full fledged flash player

EDIT: now fort the details

Some key features i saw on this link

- HW Accelerated video video decoder (MPEG4@QVGA)
- 3 audio output driver, including high performance 8 ohm driver
- Echo/Noise Cancellation (best inclass audio performance)
- 3MP camera interface
- Lowest cost of ownership

so to sum it up, there's no 3D acceleration on GPU, no 3G/HSPA driver i wonder how fluid the UI would be (if the phone UI can prove to be fast though)

More here

The speed of the phone is not too bad (keep in mind: pre-production version), as you can see in the video. Much better than Yendo in any case already now

So low-end phones such as Mix have stereo speakers while higher-end ones (Arc, Neo) do not... I can't get SE.

I have to say it again; who will buy these phones? Especially when there is android phones that cost less. Remember when we first saw yendo, everyone was saying that the lag was going to be fixed, well it wasnt fixed. Dont think these phones are going to be much faster either... Yendo all over again

@motvikt

Agree with you..
Whn there is android OS y Wud want to make some touch phone of their OS. Such a Waste of Resource
They cud have made few Cheap Non Touch Phones.

Pls stick with Android FOR TOUCH Phones Not Ur OS. PLS REQUEST.

+1 Exactly

@ motvikt

I disagree with you... must also produced non-touch and touch low-end phones, Yendo was a big mistake, Mix Walkman and Txt Pro are good and cheap phones for the masses of people...
Nokia has the best results with low-end phones, and the operators also needs a broad portfolio, not everyone buys only high-end smartphones...

Posted by smclion102
@Mizzou

Disagree with you bro, is not Nokia is a Expensive Brand n every category.
ppl Prefer Nokia cause its popular n Cheap.
can Experiment with there Touch OS once when they are in top 3 spot.Y do u wana risk it now when nothing is going in their flavor

There are Very Cheap Samsung Android phones for around 240$ available in India.
Huge company lik Nokia is getting Fu*ked evey quarter Imagine smaller company Like our [with natural disaster, delays, old tech, bad press]all this makes this company grow lesser n lesser.

Non Touch + Android is what I want from

Any tidbit about the dual core device? At this rate, we'd be lucky if its announced before the end of this year :-|

Posted by io_bg
It's been to quiet lately... Aren't there any news? The W995 successor, the Android phone with xenon flash (mentioned in the first page)

Posted by goldenface
No further info as yet on those two phones I'm afraid. Hopefully there will be a July / August announcement which will see new phones on the shelves in the run up to the holiday season.

We've had an X10 successor in the Arc, successor to the x10 mini and pro in the form of the new minis. So I guess a X8 successor would be on the cards too? With probably a larger 3.2 inch screen and a 1 ghz processor?

Doesn't WT indicate a walkman phone?

ST17i & WT19i look like two phones to be announced together, as TXT PRO & MIX were.
