Do you really need to take 16mpx photos??? What do they have over standart 8mpx photos, except doubled size? How many SLR and DSLR with 16mpx have you seen and why do you think they're so rare? How do you expect such a small sensor to be capable of doing good photos at that size?

I'm 100% agains such phone, everything beyond 8mpx is just useless and not price worthy. SE should concentrate on the quality of the photos, not their size. I don't want to pay for 16mpx if I'm going to use no more than 3 of them ( I usually take photos at 3mpx ). That are just money, thrown to the wind.

Whatever you tell me in response, you'll never convice me in the opposite.

^^
every ppl have there own thoughts bro ur tie but still Ppl wont get it..
I am not happy with the negative press around SE Exmor R everybody seems to be taking only abt G II.
SE wher top in camera department now they are behaving like some Average Company.
No doubt Exmor R is good but we need the best in best.
Ppl keep takin abt Nokias 12mp n G II. that makes me sad.
am no pic crazy guy etc etc.. but we need SE to makes kickass camera phone and walkman phones with android.
they where best back then why cant they do it again?

i dont care abt dual core. the 1 thing u can never Future proof these days is ur Smart Phone.
nxt yr u will see Quad core blah blah blah n Nxt yr there will be so much advance in Android OS we never knw if our phones will support those software n stuff..
i just want to Excel in Camera n Media Department

Well You have a good point, but there is something else to it. You're absolutely right that 8mpx is enough, BUT, all we get in phones is shitty 8MP, it's as good as 3MP. My hope is, that when they release 16MP camera phone, it will behave like a good 6-8MP which would be awesome right?

No... I think it would be just worse. Neither the C905 nor Satio captured more detail with their 8 and 12 MP camera than C901 with its 5MP. When they are trying to squeeze more senzor pixels in the same, or less, space it is phisically impossible that the pictures you take to be better.
I my opinion too 8 MP senzor -but a better one- would be enough. But SE has marketing experts and they know well that most people would be prouder and more satisfied with a 16 MP phone, because it sounds better, when someone asks how many pixels has your phone's camera. And there are many people who think, or can really believe that they can shot better pictures with a 16 MP camera.
Sadly a 16 MP camera would be just much more expensive, and would make worse pictures than a 8MP one. But if you don't have an apple on the back of your phone, at least the "16 MP" would be written on the back of it.

Posted by mediar
Exactly. The mathematical equation a/b = 2a/2b doesn't apply to this case. Instead of that, while trying to "put all these megapixels" in your ultra-slim phone, you can even worsen the overal quality of the pictures in all resolutions. Everything beyond 8mpx is just addition noise, generated in the process of enlarging the photo to the exact size. Whatever they tell you, it's physically impossible to put so many photodiodes on such a small space. They try to make them smaller and smaller, but that decreases their sensitivity and affects the photos at lower resolution too. So more megapixels = lower quality in general.

I just saw Acro on youtube. I think it will be a hit if they'll release it outside Japan. It has something which the competitors don't have: Tv tuner. I'll rather have that anytime than dual-core.

It doesn't look much like the xperia play to me.

@shino03

There are very few TV services outside of Japan that the Acro could pick up.

Posted by io_bg
It is the Play although from this angle it looks like a normal non-touchscreen slider

NonAndroid
SE still rocks

Posted by 5tephane
I want this one.

Posted by goldenface
Is it me or are the earphones around that Walkman gigantic?

Some nice budget phones coming. They don't look bad either.

Posted by Bonovox
At last a decent phone without Android but with touch screen. Be interesting this one

Posted by motvikt
Dunno why anyone would buy that phone when cheap android phones are the alternative. Feature phones are dying imo. You can get the x8 for 100euro, find it hard to believe these will be cheaper than that

Posted by Bonovox
Cos despite what you may think not EVERYONE wants a complicated Android phone. Not everyone NEEDS an Android phone. There are still such people who just want a phone & does not need a smartphone.

Posted by hihihans
Maybe they aren't cheap.
Could TextPro be Aino2?

Maybe. I think it will be yendo all over again sadly

Posted by Bonovox
By the looks of it I think it seems better than Yendo. Imo if Sony Ericsson made a top of the range touch screen Cyber-shot or Walkman feature phone I think they would still do well.

Posted by hihihans
A nice small reliable phone in your pocket and a tablet on the sofa. Would make a perfect combination.

Posted by bodeh6
That Txt Pro looks like a nice phone. As long as it has a 5MP Autofocus camera, 3G for the USA, VGA+ 30FPS video recording, and a great UI, it should do well and could be a nice replacement for my Nokia C6.

Posted by Bonovox
Yeah,I tink in budget or mid range phones now a 3 meg camera with no flash & fixed focus is just not on

Not Active ???? am not able to open

Countdown for Pro? Or 2.3?

Posted by Ricky D
One of the logos bouncing around on there is PlayNow Do SE China still use PlayNow? It looks to me like it'll be a small touchscreen phone with the Chinese carrier heavily modified android variant for China only or a fake countdown like the last one was found to be.

They probably won't because they're contracted to Qualcomm for their chips. I suppose when that deal with Qualcomm comes to an end they can look at Intel, Nvidia or ST-Ericsson, but they've stated that's the reason arc, play and co didn't get Nvidia chips.

Posted by trixon45
I have a SE ARC and LG Optimus 2x and I must say the LG is not that much faster or snappier than ARC, so people asking for dual or even quad core for mobile, drop it!

SE is going to use Dual-core in a upcoming phone in the end of this year!

Posted by HxH
If they going to use Qualcomm Dual Core Krait and release it in Q1 2012 it would be somehow okay but I doubt if they will keep up compete in top tier market with those Qualcomm chipset, because they always follow HTC in this department.

My voted for should go for NovaThor 9600 which is feature of latest of PowerVR series codename "Rogue", definitely wipe out in top floor
U8500 feature with ARM Mali 400 is still very capable and good choice.

From Eldar's weekly Spillikins:
Bert Nordberg the Sony Ericsson CEO is going to visit Russia on his farewell tour – by the end of the year he will initiate a wave of layoffs in the company and then leave. The formal reason for that is the Q2 2011 losses as well as the coming losses of the second half of the year. While the Q2 losses are apparent the second half results are heuristic and are obvious from the fact that the company's products are not very popular. Sony Ericsson Play failed on all markets and Arc sales are very low and the company can do nothing about it.

That's slightly troubling...

Then again, it is Eldar we're taking the info from here.

Also, Q2 still has a good 1 1/2 month left in it...

Posted by mustafabay
Of course I don't have real solid data on sales but one online store in Dubai I check regularly recently marked up the Arc's price by 400dirhams ($108). Hardly the thing to do with something that's not selling. In contrast the Incredible S which was priced the same as the ARC has had 50 dirhams knocked off its price. But unless the Arc shipments are still to few I'd say the Arc is doing pretty well at least in some parts of the world.

On another note what's with facebook being the place for product launches and leaks. Do we actually have a complete spec list on the txt pro and the Mix?

Rofl, why the hell would Bert do such a thing. "Farewell tour", hahahahahaha (who the f*ck would do that?), what a retard. This and microsoft buying nokia, has he gone insane? Eldar is not what he used to be, funny I actually listened to him in the past (sometimes)

@motvikt There is nothing insane about what Eldar writes. SE is not doing well. And please read carefully, there are negotiations between MS and Nokia about selling the mobile phone department to MS, not the whole Nokia...

According to my intuition or gut feeling, Sony/// needs a miracle to survive the coming year. Or some device that will be a munster success as the Iphone has become when it came out.
IM writing this as a big fan, currently owning and enjoying the arc. but even the Arc is a faulty device. Sometimes it runs like a charm but then for no reasons at all it freezes or becomes very slow for some minutes.
kind a stupid when you´re showing it to a friend (to show off a little) but it it takes a minute to open a program.
It is a great device but nothing that will bring them back on track. And there´s nothing even in prospect to bring them back on track.
So yes, Sony/// is on the edge! I would miss them a lot.....

To some extent I believe Eldar. I do not think SE has had a great first half of the year so far....

Think about it, what phones (especially new ones) do they have on the market? The Arc, thats all. All the others on selected markets only and then they have delivery problems. I am sure the play will not do to well (its not a mass market product) and NEO is not really available. So currentely there offer is 2010 products only, and we all now how good and succesful those were

However one thing I really do not believe is that the company is going to go down any time soon. I really cannot imagine that a company such as Sony is willing to leave the Mobile market to its competitors without a BIG fight. Same goes for Ericsson and thus for them in combination. Both companies have resources and should, no MUST be present in the Mobile phone market of the future.

When all the 2011 line up is available everywhere in the world it will probably be to late again as in previous years and of course a company like SE cannot survive on a couple of good reviews for the Arc especially after the bad reputation they have since there downfall in 2008.

Actually all I wanted to say is that I am sure they will keep up the fight and will not give up because of another bad year. They are more or less forced to stay in the Mobile phone market and each of them trying it by themselves would be even worse. Basically they have no choice but to keep going... i hope....

Sorry for the ridiculously long post. Had a coffee to much this morning...

It may be true for both Sony and Ericsson as independent companies. Sony Ericsson Mobile has been operating in the red for four straight years. Somehow, Eldar is right. I think it is best for both companies to leave the joint venture. Anyway, both Sony and Ericsson are not that willing to provide their own technologies to the company unlike Samsung and Lg which can basically share almost all of their new technologies on their mobile department.

Sony has already announced their own tablets and I think it's a start.

Maybe your arc having a problem. Untill now, after using for several months I could'n find anything to make the phone slow. The phone always blazing fast all the time. I always give my arc to my friends that having iphone, and they said its very fast. Yes I like to show off infront of my friends.

I'm very happy because finally I have a phone that can shut their mouth off.
