Won't happen soon.

@Nightblade: fully agree...

Too bad about that, I think a lot of people would like to have a 16MP cameraphone with a xenon flash. Anyway, Rog, will SE put the 16 MP camera sensor into use in any other phones than the SO006?

haha.. ok, i stand corrected then.

Well, the exmor r sensor is great for sure, that is if you can hold the phone steady as a rock. And because of this, if your not just interested in taking photos of mountains and s''t, the exmor r sensor and led flash is worthless. Sorry

Nokia N8 with android and SE design would be perfect.

That's ridiculous! How many digital or bridge cameras with 16mpx have you seen? And since there aren't many, actually only a few, doesn't that mean that the people don't need so many megapixels? Since they don't need that, why do you think they will pay more money to have such an useless feature? I wouldn't... on earth do that!

So what, most people still think that more megapixels = better quality SE can make more money using that sensor

Posted by marcink
8MP + Xenon flash would be just perfect for me. I don't ask for 16mp, but a camera centric phone without Xenon Flash is somehow crpippled for me. N8 class camera + SE Design would be really nice:)

Posted by goldenface
Arc's camera + Xenon + Android would be perfect. 1080p recording would be a bonus too along with a dedicated cam button.

Nice but in UAE these are a little bit lower...

Play = AED 2684.99 ( €535 / $730 ) - 31/03/2011
Arc = AED 2239.99 ( €446 / $610 ) - 29/03/2011
Neo = AED 1864.99 ( €371 / $507 ) - 28/03/2011

Thought shipping cost will make the cost higher than fortress.com.hk

i think se is back from pace again. They made a few solid phones (they seem so) but where is its WP7 phone ? Any 3d capturing or 3d display? Not even a great hd screen. Not even a promising prototype phone as they did with idou. Where is dual/quad cores cpus? Where are the top selling walkman phones ? Anyway i think that arc will satisfy me but i won't feel like i'll have a top notch phone. Nothing intresting to show to friends and family and mention the word "inovation" or say "se did it first". Se always letting down its fan customers one way or another. Could be better. But i'll be it's fan, hoping to see se becoming the top brand in the future. Taking back its glory.

The xperia play is a "bad" xperia ARC with gamepad, i mean, no EXMOR R Sensor, no Bravia Engine screen, No HDMI out.

I would never recommend buying something like that.

The whole point of the Play was/is its gaming prowess as a phone. Most of the other capabilities will take a back seat, not that they will be completely ignored but given just enough attention.

So, if you want more of an all-rounder then the Arc is more like it while the Play is more of a gaming device.

Those are pretty good prices.

On The USA side.. Prices are as follow for pre-order

Arc $709.99 Pre-Order
Play $884.99 Pre-Order
Neo $599.99 28/3/2011

For pre order prices, its not bad at all. Prices will free fall after 2 weeks or so. Im hoping Arc will end up around $600.

Anyone know when Roger will release the Arc Silver?

That's why i said that Arc will satisfy me. Xperia play is kind of innovative in mobile phone market but if it had all the above i'd surely choose it. + a cover in the camera would be great (shutter?). (asking much, i know)

Do you have any info on the other two android phones Nortberg is talking about? He said "we plan to double the number of Android phones in the market this year". 4 of those androids are already announced and the other two are the minis which leaves two more android handset for this year.

neo is 479 €, as I said on the 13th or 14th, but not the competitor for the Nexus S in most people's heads.

OMG! XPERIA Arc in southeast asia market (Thailand) only cost much as price tag of XPERIA Neo in Germany (actually less 10€)
Really surprise price tag for low-performed market of and XPERIA Neo cost around 355€
Only pre-order by now and retail availability should be in early April at most
By the way, Nexus S still not present here.

Rumor: Sony Plans Development High-Quality Camera Sensor CMOS 17MP (megapixel)
By this days, the Nikkei, Japan’s biggest business daily, reported yesterday in its evening edition that Sony succeeded in developing what appears to be a pretty powerful CMOS sensor. Sony Plans Development High-Quality Small-Sized 17MP Camera Sensor CMOS that records 120 FPS (Frames Per Second) for video. According to the report, and Nikkei newspaper business, Sony’s device can “convert multiple pixels into signals simultaneously”, which results in a reduction of the conversion time by up to 75% when compared to existing sensors if it is carried out and completed the prototype of the Sony sensor is impressive recording speed of video and still with a capacity to 17MP (megapixel). Just need to know how the hardware behaves and correct the image processing.

The new sensor boasts a processing speed of 34.8Gbps that’s up to five times faster than previous Sony sensors and shoots video with 17.7MP at 120fps . Apparently, the Sony also managed to keep power consumption in check by revamping the circuit design in the sensor. The Nikkei also says that Sony plans to use the new technology in digital cameras and cell phones in the future, without providing information on when exactly this will be the case.

In December, we reported that Sony is ready to invest $1.2 billion in the production of sensors, a market in which the company commands a 70% share. So most probably future Sony Ericsson Xperia Android and why not the future of handsets and devices Sony or Sony Ericsson will have this Sony camera sensor CMOS implemented, is to wait for it to happen and vibes a lot vibes guys.

That sensor sounds like the increase in quality we have been waiting for.

You think the sensor is for the two unannounced androids later this year? Or other xperia products?

Posted by goldenface
I don't know. I'd guess the year after.

S007 " CYPERSHOT "

IS11S " ANDROID 2.3 "

COMING FOR KDDI " JAPAN "

Posted by roanmy
au KDDI has announcement in about a day.

Posted by roanmy
Nothing from SE in todays announcement from au KDDI.

Though it looks like IS11S will eventually be a JP-version of the Xperia PLAY.

Posted by goldenface
That's what I was thinking. I don't think any carriers in Japan have an exclusive on the Play.
