I think we are lucky to have seen quite a bit of the phones to be announced at MWC but we haven't got the full picture on all the devices. There could be more software features we don't know about like z-system, on the Play.

Thank god for sites like it.168 for supplying us with leaks, it's given us plenty to talk about.

I do hope though, that SE surprises us at MWC with something major (that hasn't been leaked), though at this stage it's not looking likely.

I remember X1 was such a surprise addition to that particular announcement I almost missed it! I'm hoping for another one of those type of bombshells, only not with a Microsoft OS.

There are more phones like the mids and lows that won't really be headline grabbing but remember, there are supposedly two WP7 devices on 'ice' for the minute. An Android Walkman is on the cards which may be low end but I don't know. In 2010, talked about a new naming system or branding perhaps for a range of devices. They also said they want to re-launch something or other, maybe a brand?. I don't have the sources but it does suggest that there are a few things that have not been leaked already. Some people believe that a dual core Qualcomm processor will debut in a high end HTC meaning that its available for as well. Finally, this years MWC is probably one of the most anticipated because it introduces a number of new technologies and the competition is strong, Sammy and are having press events at the same time as each other the day before. Its going down like that.

ARC is the only High End device for Q1[mentioned by UK marketing Head]like they will be spending a lot for marketing .

I guess other than few Mid Range phones they wont be high end.

I don't see how half those phones are better than the Arc, and the other half only have dual-core over the Arc.

Oh, God, no....

Relax, it looks like it's for docomo so Japan only.

Posted by Legen
girlies might like it

Actually the N9 is something like the king is back from another world is back, I mean 1.6ghz+12mpx in a Nokia phone is totally unsane.
I am looking forward to discover both galaxy S 2 and optimus 3D over the HTC piramid. MWc big fire going to start a day before the event together with Samsung and Nokia. And Arc is still f****n awesome, the pink one is for Maria Sharapova.

Posted by pmugghc
Here's Engadget comparison of Arc vs LG 2x, Arc wins on the design front, but they haven't done a full review yet:

i think sonyericsson has a monster phone they gona reveal at MWC. Its logic. Especially since a few other phones are leaked, they'll need something big to have an impact. Remember Satio?

Posted by goldenface
Mmm, makes sense. How can they make big waves at MWC when so much has been leaked already, intentionally or not. There isn't much we don't already know about the Xperia Play and Hallon.

Posted by c96sthl
Since now all leak get dig up. Fans get bored with lack of surprises on mwc but I hope the surprises now lie on accessories. With recent x10 family and x8 update to enable ANT+ in those phone. For health and smart home.

For non die hard fans who focus in searching leak. There's surprises. For us. Sure there's non. Well its very ironic. When we see no leak. We feel frustrated. When all stuff get leaked. We too feel frustrated. I hope we can see some stuff by SE showing their future stuff that integrate to smart home. Smart car and personal health. Or maybe a road map when we see a 3D camera. He he 3D screen might not be interesting but 3D camera that allow images to be transfer to big screen for its fun. Or hopefully they have a pico projector accessories. Since integrate it to the phone will be very thick.

Would be nice to see a camera comparison between ARC/NEO and IPhone 5 considering all three share the same camera sensor from SONY

Posted by io_bg
First of all iPhone 5 does not exist, at least for now Second, they all use a back-lit sensor, but how do you know that iPhone 4's is made by Sony?

The Iphone 4 has a camera module from OmniVision. The next Iphone 5 will have the same 8mp module that Arc/Neo have from Sony "apparently".
Though ofcourse with 1080p video recording, unlike in Arc/Neo.

I wonder who get's fired now over at Apple when you reveal that they will be using a Sonylense in their new product.
Honestly! Where have you heard that??

Nothing shocking as most big camera manufacturers including Canon/Nikon use SONY sensors in their cameras including DSLRs.

"Interestingly enough, the IMX105PQ could very well be the exact Sony 8MP sensor that was rumored to be implemented in the next Apple iPhone, which means that the iPhone 5 could have incredible low light performance (without flash) and 1080p video recording."

Well... If thats the case then its great for the iphoneusers. Its still just a rumour thou so I would be very careful with such info if my name was Avmaxfan. Remember what happened with Anzu. (TI OMAP4, Dualcore, Amoled, 16mp cam etc.)

had the chance to play with the xperia arc yesterday. compared to my iphone4 it feels much thinner, and it doesnt feel at all plastic that i thought it would. The screen is huge but it doesnt have the same crisp in it as the iphone4 display do. all in all its super nice, im definitately going to switch from the iphone to the arc, the UI is as smooth as on the phone and it feels really fresh!

The above news was dated October 2010 so it should be the same sensor use in Xperia Arc, right? Question is, why the Arc could not record 1080p video? It's Sony's product, why the best is given to Apple but not to SE?

Because 1080p requires dual core processor.

Posted by HxH
It can believe new image sensor named Exmor R is capable for recording for 1080p but Processor didn't powerful enough.

Yes, even Sony said (at the announcement of these sensors) that they're capable of recording full-HD videos.

Bullshit. Ever checked the specs of Samsung's Infuse 4G? That's right. 1080p and no dualcore. Though it could very well be that the chip in arc is not up to it, but not because it isn't dualcore.

is the xperia play commercial a super bowl commercial?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?[....]=player_embedded&v=MV09PRsAU2Y

Posted by HxH
Personally can't believe if the Play leaky ad would hit on Superbowl, I did not feel enough effort polishing on the ad anyway I hope it just a leak not final one!

Posted by juris15
so the answer is yes?
Xperia Play to be officially unveiled during Super Bowl?

Rumours doing the rounds suggest that the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play (aka Playstation Phone) will get its first official TV airing later today, in a 30-second advert during Super Bowl XLV. If true, it will end one of the worst kept secrets (given the amount of leaks we’ve seen), which even extends to the actual advert likely to premiere later.

The Xperia Play wasn’t expected to be announced until Mobile World Congress (MWC) a week later. However Sean Bryan, Group Creative Director for McCANN Worldgroup, revealed on ABC News Nightline that he has been working on a “top secret” TV spot set to debut during the Superbowl for a “new gaming phone from Sony Ericsson.” You can check out the Xperia Play ad below.

Xperia Play a.k.a. PlayStation phone, a.k.a. the Worst Kept Secret in the Business

edit: maybe they'll show a teaser

I guess it'll be a teaser. I don't want to believe they'll air the whole commercial in the Super Bowl.

Posted by goldenface
Isn't an ad during the Superbowl the most expensive one you can buy ($3M)?

Advertising a phone before it is officially announced is a new strategy - it's being announced to the world via TV and not at a press event.
