The first video shows opening the 'Playstation' app from the tray and it opens instantly no lag, to the first screenshot posted by huiyi on the previous page. Then he clicks the top 3 tabs back and fourth, that's it. The tabs are from left to right: 'All' 'Recently added' 'Recently played'

The second video on that Chinese page being bandied about show a Meizu M9 (Chinese brand) next the PSphone starting 'Dungen Defenders' simultaneously, PSphone loses the speed of the draw in loading by about 3-4 secs.

The third shows 'Asphalt 5' on the PSphone running with the gamepad open. Buttons don't work just the accelerometer to control, meaning android games that have not been specifically made to work with the game controls won't work with the game controls.

The fourth video near the end is a preview of the UI with menu icon rearranging, the menu screens sliding left and right in panes like on the X10 minis, either side of the on-screen app tray icon are 2 (4 in total) docked apps and there's an animation of the bin opening and closing when you bin a shortcut from the desktop.

Just read the spec at the top it says 5MP cam, dunno if that was known or not..

Posted by zub
hey thanks for description i guess it'd be too much work to ask for a re-upload

its ok, i read that in the hands-on he tried running a psp game, but did'nt work, hope we can run them, at least then we'll have a decent library of game titles already.

Posted by Ricky D
I'll post them onto youtube if I can get around to ripping them off youku. I don't suppose you know any good flash video rippers?

M9 PSP phone does not run the game smoothly. . M9 mobile phone is better than a lot of PSP. . .

For the first time in years, I am not mad at Sony Ericsson, but I am not happy either. Arc is what X10 should have been IMO, so it is not supposed to be their highend phone and it is just a follow-up. It is good that they announced something officially before MWC, and hopefully, it won't be released too late.

I believe that Sony Ericsson didn't announce its highend phone because there are many products in CES and it is not specially held for mobile phones. So, I will have my finders crossed until MWC.

I dont think SE will announce anything more highend than Xperia Arc at MVC. The phones that I think will be announced are the phones that have been leaked, vivaz successor, new minis and xperia play. To me it seems like these phones will fill each price segment. If Xperia Arc is priced like the vivaz successor it will also compete with it. The SE überphone people are hoping for will probably come late 2011. After MVC most companies will probably have dual core phones announced and even though I don't care particular much about dual cores yet its an important statement. To have an state of the art phone with the latest tech shows that you are not falling behind. Reading forums, there are demands for dual cores and by not having it SE will loose customers. I understand that for most everyday users dual cores doesn't mean a shit but the awareness about new tech is growing I believe and so are the potential buyers of highend phones.

I also agree. For the past consecutive years, it was always their flagship which saves them. I don't think they will mess up with their 2011 flagship as they were always their bestsellers like the X10i, Satio, X1, C905. Sony Ericsson is not that stupid to forget that.

imo psphone and arc should've been released last year. the specs are perfect to compete with competition for 2010. but come on 2011, its a joke guys, im sorry.

it is such a huge shame for me i was so looking forward to psphone, if only other manufacturers would incorporate hardware controls, if only, that would be so awesome then i would'nt have to depend on delivering a late, underpowered, overpriced device.

look my friend im just so disappointed thats all. imagine something like the HTC Desire HD with playstation hardware controls? it has same cpu and gpu but has more RAM and a bigger screen. it will outperform the psphone even today and desire HD came out last year. what is thinking? we can only hope for a big surprise and change the set-up and get a better CPU/GPU combo, does'nt have to be dual-core, but come on at least better than 2010 tech.

The way I see it the Arc is the best phone announced so far. Sure the Motorola phone has higher specs but seriously I can't tell any of the phones apart and I mean all the 4G samsungs, htcs and motos. And looking at the specs its on par with the Desire HD. And heck if it comes out early March it'll just do fine.

oh please come on, no need to spread false rumours;

samsung infuse 4g - 1.2GHz Hummingbird CPU, probably lates PowerVR GPU, 512mb RAM (maybe more?), Super AMOLED PLUS 4.5" screen, front facing 1.3mp cam and 8 mp main cam. Possible 1080p recording.

Samsung 4g LTE - 1GHz Hummingbird CPU, probably lates PowerVR GPU, 512mb RAM, 4.3" Super AMOLED PLUS screen, 8mp rear, 1.3mp front facing cam. possible 1080p recording.

Motorola Atrix 4G - 1GHz tegra 2 dual core CPU, 1GB RAM, 4" 960 x 540 screen, 1930Mah battery! possible 1080p recording.

Motorola Droid Bionic - 1GHz tegra 2 dual core CPU, 512mb RAM, 4.3" 960 x 540 screen, Front and rear cams, 1930mah Battery! possible 1080p recording.

LG Optimus 2X
- 1GHz dual core ARM Cortex A9 CPU, 512mb or 1gb RAM, 4" super LCD display, 1080p video recording, 1.3mp front and 8mp rear cams.

Sony Ericsson Arc - 1GHz qualcomm CPU with Adreno 205 GPU, 512mb RAM, 4.2" Bravia screen, 8mp rear cam, no front cam, no 1080p recording.

so come on seriously? the the best phone so far?

only thing that beats the other in is camera pic quality due to Exmor cam. thats it. no 1080p.

im sorry but if you believe its the best phone from the bunch then something wrong with you, ofcourse if you like the sexiest phone, then yes go for the arc

And being on par with desire HD? Why is that a good thing? That was last year spec, arc won't be coming out till near mid year.

End of Q1 actually .

Posted by zub
If that's true than that would be a big surprise. But still I really doubt it, knowing it will be later. At least april imo but probably may/june I'm guessing.

But let see what happen.

Posted by rog
I guess you will be surprised then The current pre-release software is already running like a charm (you can see more on that shortly ) Don't see why SE could not stick to March.

Posted by juris15
so sammy is announcing dual core phone in MWC... is there a possibility that will announce something with dual core?

even only a prototype with with a codename à-la Idou?

Posted by zub
trust me i would 100% love to be surprised by and what they offer, but psphone needs better specs imho. its ok for now and maybe even okay for the psphone titles that will be made for the phone, but remember there will be high end android games aswell coming out this year, that will really use the tegra 2 chip. the shitty qualcomm/adreno combo wont cut it after 3-4 months it'll feel old.

i dont know about you, but i dont want to pay £500 for a phone that can ONLY play psphone games, i'd want the option to easily and enjoyably play android based games, emulators, psx games, etc. i find it hard to believe the current rumoured spec will live upto whats required.

The pspphone if released in 2012 with Nokia specs wont have any competitors. So all these crap about 2010 and 2011 is all shit. The hardware controls speak for everything. I dont see HTC,sammy, LG or Moto coming up with anything like that. Clean sweep for SE.

psphone
is not interesting for me from the 1st
and now with this shitty CPU and other shitty spics .. i will not even talk about it

so what, that gives them the right to shaft us with shitty hardware? just because they know they are the only ones with gaming controls? what about fan loyalty? how can they screw us like this? you think its ok to give us below par hardware?

Jesus Christ, I don't know why I bother with this thread if all people are gonna do is whinge.
Shitty specs? No one has got a bloody gun to your head forcing you to buy the flaming thing.

It's not all about the specs. If all you judge a phone with is a bloody spec sheet then you might as well pack up and go live in your pipe dream. At least wait till you see how it pleases gamers actually wanting gaming controls before you condemn it.

Posted by zub
my rage demonstrates my frustration with ......
indeed correct, no one has a gun to my head, but this is the ONLY phone with hardware gaming controls and, at least for me, it had to be perfect, i fear is failing.... if there were other manufacturers going down this route at least i'd have options and would not be so cheezed off.

i have been waiting for a phone with gaming controls, or a portable gaming system with phone functions for so long, heck since i bought my PSP1000 in fact, and here with their offering. i am disappoint.

that is all.......

The Xperia Play is optimised and designed for gaming and how it appeals and performs to gamers and that is how it should be judged, not by how it looks on a piece of paper. Proof of the pudding is in the eating. Let's just wait and see how it is received by it's target market.

i understand what you're trying to say. for example the psp uses a 333MHz CPU and does amazingly well, but you have to understand that is completely different architecture. and the PSPhone is using qualcomm/Adreno, which is not that great for gaming imo, its limits are already being hit today. what other architecture are they implementing? there's only so much gaming optimization you can do with software alone.

Posted by goldenface
Well then why can't we wait and see how it performs 'in real life' before condemning it. It's a unique phone, possibly the most anticipated phone from in a very long time and if they f*ck it up then we'll scream and cry and gnash our teeth but at least wait until the phone is out.

For all we know, it could be 90% perfect rather than being a total non-runner. It's a massive project that needs to be done right first time and I'm sure Sony as well as don't want to trip up. Have some faith and keep and open mind, hard to do by recent performance I know, but give it a chance, that's all.

@zub: man don't worry SE chose on long term to join android team so the update will be provided and as you can see on diferent videos the new software is just amazing even on the web the UXP is awesome. So xperia play will provide you the best mobile game experience for me it is undoubtable (because the Ngage was very amazing at launch) it won't be the most powerful of 2011 (like SE NEVER been the most powerful for years). Or buy your samsung/HTC/Motorola/LG or whatever and custom it as you will. You may like SE but you are way to focus to the phone processor, and Apple shows us that the most beautiful and well made UI is way better than Nokia's Hardware... Plus don't think SE is dumb enough to let android concurrence them on their own platform , as that would be the most silly action ever...

I don't think that SE is going to launch a dual core since any device from their MWC 2011 need some, apart maybe the Hallon which I think is the 16 mpx camphone as it has many symbling to the S006 16 mpx keitai, which remind me of the satio's case. MWC is like to be a samsung show again this year as Idon't expect LG and Motorola any other sexy and or powerful phones.

What about pricing, perhaps the Xperia play would be to expensive if they implemented the latest and the greatest hardware. SE are maybe aiming for a broader market. Its already a niche product and would be even more niche if it were really expensive. I dont know the price but I would guess it lands somewhere around 450-500 euro which already is a lot of money.

i guess after the news of a possible/maybe earliest April release along with ho-hum spec sheet it really hit me hard

has scared my heart for now, but i guess we just have to wait and hope dont screw up.....

even three months is too long, think about it, even if the announce psphone at mwc, that would mean around mid May earliest for release. too long imo. what worries me more is that are still trying to deny the psphone existence! makes you think then announcement will be a long time from now.

btw was there any release date info for arc? i dont think there was?

Posted by goldenface
Thanks rog for the vid. There seems to be even more cool features yet to be discovered. The floating icons look really good.

The spypics so far look to me like it's 90% ready for launch and if they can get the Xperia Arc out so soon I've a feeling the Xperia Play won't be very far behind.

two pics of the x10 mini pro successor.

source

specs:
cpu: msm7230 snapdragon 800 mhz
gpu: adreno 205
ram: 384 M

i think this will be called the Xperia Duo as a homage to the old flash memory card format from sony.
the memory stick pro duo was a 'mini' memory stick pro.

thus, the next xperia mini handset will be called the xperia duo.

so i guess that leaves xperia neo for the vivaz succesor.

Wow wario, thanks for posting! Looking good.

but thats what im trying to say, 3 months from announcement to release may not be so bad, but they are announcing way too late so therefore that 3 months now becomes even too late, if you know what i mean. should've been announced last year.

Such a leak-fest going on. We might need to be thrown a rubber ring before we all drown in all this leaky goodness.

The X12 (?) Mini Pro looks great indeed. But I hope they won't leave the back of the keyboard just empty just like the way it is now.

Thanks wario for the leak and info, looks good and has a front facing camera Very interesting Very interesting, why can't they show us more of the hallon (My 16 mpx dual core dream phone ), Hope that won't make me as angry and disapointed as zub, I hate touch sensitive button.
