This thread might help you decide : which is better ???
In terms of the camera, C901 has more details but C905 has warmer colours : C905 vs C901
According to GSM Arena the Yari has the best sound out of the walkman range so the music will be much better than on the C901.
Yari has a single LED flash and C901 has a xenon flash with triple LED video light.
Another phone you might want to consider is the Elm, it is quite similar to the C901 and considered to be an improved version but it's not straightforward, each phone has its highlights and if look at what they are you can match them with what you want the phone to do and make the right choice for you.

If you have Elm as one of the choices, you should include Hazel too... But I don't know if your a fan of slider phones though... As a SE user, Hazel is one of the most beautiful phones around(see passionate rouge), design wise, and it is very affordable. I bought it for 11.6K PHP. The slider is not the common "belt", but a magnetic one, so (IMO) worrying about the slider breaking down in time is not a problem anymore. I accidentally dropped my Hazel today and it still feels as solid as ever. BTW, its just 2 days old. lol. The only knack for Hazel is the the camera in low light situations, the flash is sooooooooooo bad! I hope my 2cents worth of advice helped you.

Tough decisions, that's half the fun of getting a new phone
I own the C901 and the Elm so I can answer any questions you have about them,
This might be useful to you: Review of Sony Ericsson Elm J10 GSM/UMTS Phone
Some people have said reviews by mobile-review are biased, there's no way to tell if it is or not but it's still worth checking out, it has some comparison to the Hazel.
I made a thread a couple of months ago where all C901 users gave a quick review of the phone, I tried to make it in-depth and not biased in any way C901 User Reviews

The c901 has a better camera overall, bear in mind that the Elm can only take good pictures in nice sunny conditions where there's good light. If you take a picture in low light there will be coloured lines and lots of noise in your photos, the flash doesn't compare to the xenon on the c901 but that's expected. Its not a good choice if you take a lot of photos indoors, the colours come out looking very dull. However, the Elm takes very good pictures in sunny conditions, i looked at side by side crops and it produced more detail on its photos than the c901, this is because it puts a lot of sharpening on during processing the photo
The elm has better build quality, more metal and rubber used instead of cheap plastic that c901 is made from.
However the c901 has a better display than the elm, they are both roughly the same size.
The elm has wifi and agps which the c901 doesn't have, wifi is very useful so its a shame c901 doesn't have it.
The elm is much lighter than the c901 and it feels better in the hand due to its better build quality. But due to the proportions of the phone it can be hard to text with it in one hand. The c901 is more durable than the elm, it has survived a lot of hard falls.
As a general function phone i would recommend the elm more than the c901, but remember its not better in all aspects.
I've never used the c905 or the hazel so i can't give advice about them
Btw, it isn't my dad's phone, i bought it from a member of this site

Hello, Hazel user here, Elm and Hazel are nearly identical phones they both share the same camera module and the same features except for the front videocall camera and larger and nicer display of Hazel.

Hazel is a bit bulkier than Elm, and Elm has a better LED flash than Hazel. (Hazel has yellowish LED flash ). Elm is candybar type and Hazel is slider type. Both takes excellent pictures at daylight and VGA video recording at 30fps and both takes bad photos at lowlight.

Here's the review at GSMarena about Hazel. The only thing they overlooked was the bad LED flash, low quality lowlight photography and you can use youtube even on wifi connection (they said you cannot ). But other than that everything's good and the mobile is great

Might as well take add some android phones to your list like the X8. That model debuted in the Philippines at around PHP 11,000.00 (~ USD $ 257.00). Samsung also introduced the Galaxy 5 & Cherry Mobile the Nova with Huawei coming in with the IDEOS pretty soon. All around the same price range so we"re seeing the beginning of a low-end Android phone price war here in Manila. I suspect that's true in many places outside as well.

Sorry for making your choice harder

Ill try and sell the idea of android smartphones to you now, sorry that the reply is so long, but i think its very useful for you to know my experience

If you don't mind paying a bit more, I would definitely recommend getting a budget android phone, i have an LG optimus running Android 1.6 and i use it much more than my Elm or c901, for one main reason: its so much more fun to use! The elm and c901 are great for general phone use, like texting and making calls, imo they do this better than the touchscreen phone as they have physical buttons instead of hard-to-use portrait qwerty keyboards on touchscreens.
But apart from that, i can only describe them as boring... they only come with a few games installed and unless you're prepared to spend hours searching for entertaining games and apps on getjar, then there isn't much in the way of fun provided, nothing beats an app market that can be accessed at anytime, anywhere whilst still using your phone and multitasking at the same time.
There are literally thousands of apps to choose from and its growing in size constantly, there are now more than one hundred thousand apps in the app store, so you don't have any excuse to be bored!
Before i got my first touchscreen smartphone i thought it wasn't worth the effort because you have to buy the phone, and then if you wanted to use it properly you would have to spend loads of money downloading any apps that were half decent. But when i got the Optimus (only £40 mint condition ) i realized there are plenty of free apps that are very useful and entertaining, over 60% of the apps available in the android market are completely free! Its also very worthwhile you knowing that there are very easy methods to get ANY app free, whether it's originally charged for in the android market or not!

Another reason to consider getting a touchscreen android phone (apart from the fact that they are so fun to use) is that you are up to date with the latest mobile operating systems and experiencing new features that are original and that everybody is talking about, instead of getting a standard phone running java apps, that is outdated for sure, getting an android powered phone lets you be part of something new and exciting.

Another huge difference between touchscreen smartphones like the optimus and simpler phones like the elm or c901 is the web browsing experience using opera mini. When i watched my first YouTube video with the optimus i blown away by the quality, streaming videos over wifi is absolutely seamless, videos fill the whole screen, it's miles better than the small pixelated web videos experienced with smaller screens on the Elm/c901.
It's incredible having a full web page in front of you that you can interact with, with just a quick tap. I can't emphasise enough howicy better web browsing is compared to on the elm/c901... it's incredible. Navigating pages with a flick of a finger feels so much better than holding the 'down' key. It offers a different world of interactive web browsing that makes surfing the web so much more enjoyable. (i sound like Steve jobs )

You should ask yourself whether you want an easy to use phone that does calls, camera and text very well or whether you want a touchscreen smartphone that will always keep you entertained. It all depends how much you are going to be using the phone for and what features meet your needs.
I was reluctant about touch screen phones and they certainly are a lot different than phones like the Elm, but I'm so glad i went for it and got one
In the end i guess i went for the best of three worlds: own c901, elm and optimus and use them simultaneously!!!
[small]I posted this reply on my optimus using the landscape qwerty keyboard with predictive text on and I'm able to type much faster than on my other two phones [/small]

Off-topic:

I totally agree with you this is a great site, there is so much support, interesting info in thousands.of threads and it always provides entertainment, that why i kept coming back to esato when i joined just over a year ago and have used it constantly ever since!
It has brought me so many good things, (even amazing bargains and free gadgets!)
It really is a great community with so many great members

And to top that what you said if you had an even bigger sharper screen & it was capacitive it would improve the experience even further. Web browsing on a huge touch screen that's sharp is something else
