How experienced as a photografer are you?
If not that experienced, this camera is fantastic.

Posted by etaab
I like my photography especially when it comes to mobile phones. These are part of my first 50 shots with the N8, all shot with basic auto settings.

Posted by Bonovox
They look very natural & well exposed & balanced, nice sharpness & for once for a Nokia the colours are not too saturated

Posted by etaab
The colours are very realistic and true to life. Some users will argue the Pixon 12 or Satio give better colours but this is simply through giving warmer pictures, almost like the Galaxy S and iPhone 4 do.

But warmer pictures do not mean better pictures !

Posted by Bonovox
Iphone 4 has OTT colours Galaxy is a blurry mess

Posted by etaab
Heh, i liked the Galaxy S and iPhone 4 cameras, the iPhone 4 for being able to shoot a nice picture every time and the Galaxy S for its strange colourful world it thinks we live in !

More from the N8.

Very nice pictures, everybody. Please post some more. I'm thinking to get N8 next week. Anyone here had a N82 before? I did and am wondering how the quality of pictures had changed in N8. Thanks!

Oh my!!

That flash photo, with the condition shot at, and despite the bit small area the camera had to shoot, to get so much little noise and great detail is simply amazing! Unbelievable.

The macro shot after it is not that impressive!
What's so special about the photo may I ask, etaab?

The focus is not half bad, it was one of my first macro pictures taken. But the impressive thing is the photo was taken under a basic light bulb indoors with no flash, but yet the colour representation was spot on perfect and true to life.

As to colors, we can conclude by now, regardless of the lighting conditions, the N8 renders colors very professionally. It even matches the DSLRs!

But as to that photo, what I was hinting for, and you commented spot on, is the focus.
It focused on a very little spot from the whole scene..

Anyway, a question crossed my mind: Is there no touch focus on the N8?
In the spec sheets, there is no mentioning whatsoever!

Posted by etaab
I dont think so, ive not really looked for it or found it. Touch focus i do not really like or ever use. I used it on my Satio many times and it resulted in blurred pictures. If its been left out of the N8 its not a great loss imo.

As for that picture i know what you mean, but then it was my very first macro attempt with the phone and i was too close for the N8's lens. Other peoples attempts have been much better. Like i said it was the colour representation i was impressed with and how it faired against the Satio - who's picture was much worse.

Edge details of the 2nd photo looks blurry

Posted by etaab
Davidsic paid you to say that huh ??

Posted by davidsic
LOL

But seriously yes Bono that's right.

Maybe an explanation about the "blurry gate" -> http://forum2.mobile-review.com/showpost.php?p=897737&postcount=1447 Of this page : http://forum2.mobile-review.com/showthread.php?t=90960&page=29

i haven't recieved yet my N8.

Posted by etaab
Anything mentioned on Mobile-Review will be anti-N8 or any other Nokia product.

Davidsic - are you not aware of the sites public open attitude against everything Nokia ?

Posted by davidsic
you see the conspiracy everywhere lol

Just trying to understand the problem, every members of mobile-review are not Eldar

I just hope not have this problem on my N8.

But as you see this flaw exist on some N8.

Posted by etaab
But i do not see the flaw on some N8 phones.

Anyway, here is not the place to attempt to discredit the N8 again. Its for posting pictures and videos.

Fantastic colour reproduction here. Amazing dynamic range:

Brazilian Skies:

I´ve got to say that the N8 has one of the best metering systems I´ve ever seen in the compact cameras´ world.

The 3.5mm jack on my N8 didnt work properly. The headphones fell straight out when i put them in and you had to waggle the connector to get them to connect. I think the damage was caused by my girlfriend dropping the phone the first time she picked it up. I know it fell on a corner but not sure if it was the one with the 3.5mm jack.

Either that or i was unlucky to receive a faulty unit. Im not surprised however, as nearly every time i buy anything from a mobile phone to a tv, a sofa or a washing machine, or even a car, mine always come faulty. Everything i buy i have to send back.

My N8 has been gone 8 days now, called Nokia today and they said they'd not even received it back at their depot in Holland. Its all one big waiting game which is incredibly frustrating when i could just wander into CPW and buy one over the counter. This is the last time i ever buy anything from the official Nokia online store, they're support is terrible when it comes to returns or replacements. If id bought it from CPW i could have exchanged it in one day. Oh well lesson learned !

wow, amazing shot gvp!
looks like HDR almost

Posted by gvp1995
It is even more impressive when you see the full 12MP image. I did not know how to post that. By default it cut the picture to 64KB or something. My co-workers could not believe it was made with a camera-phone. Some made it as their desktop background.

Posted by etaab
Heh, its a gorgeous picture but ruined by the photographer.

Look at the ocean horizon, its going downhill. The water's horizon is slanted. Something i never noticed with my own pictures, but then one day i did and ocean shots have annoyed me ever since. I noticed i ALWAYS did it with cameraphones until i learnt how not to.

On the N8, turn on the grid function, then use the lines as a sort of spirit level to make sure your picture is dead level.

ISO 718
1/5 sec shutter

To get this shot with my old C905 i would of had to slow the shutter down to at least a 1 sec, and use a tripod.
With N8... night mode, and just point and shoot

Thanks, pal!

Yours look just great, as well.

That new Giulietta is just gorgeous.

Too bad FIAT won´t bring it to Brazil. Not many options here at this size range for reasonable prices.

I´ve had an Audi A3 1.8t 180hp, but the current generation is priced way too high for me to afford it. Converting it to Euros it would cost something around 45k Euros.

Coming back on to the topic, what are your thoughts about your new N8?

Posted by davidsic
Thanks Vit, i'm very satisfied with my Giulietta, it's a Diesel 2.0 jtd 170hp (in Brazil every cars are gazoline i thing). In Brazil you have the new Uno et the Palio that we don't have in europe (we had a Palio but it was a break).

The N8 is very nice, overall much better than Satio. I didn't had much time to test the camera but it seems good
