Hi All,

Heres is the Un-Boxing experience of a Nokia X6-00

Note this is the Vodafone handset and it comes with the 3rd full series
of Gavin & Stacey

Opening the Box heres the Phone taken out of the Plastic wrapping!

Opened further you get a whole lot of Goodies including a BT Headset,
Headphones, USB and a Voucher for Comes with Music

The back of the phone and Inserting Sim card intructions

Compare shot

The Case I got for it!

And what it's like switched on

this phone is a Nicephone but it does have a fault with Dust getting into the screen currentley
im sure Nokia are aware of this anyway and I hope it doesn't put many of you off buying one atm

Posted by Bonovox
Ah very nice i want it now. You forgot the dust Nice phone good pics.

Posted by Miss UK
Hmm I need to take that Screen protection of it and get my Magnifying
glass out to check for Screen dust lol *Joke*

tbh this phone has been put together better then the last one,
but the On/Off button does still have a thick gap on it still, but the USB part is better,
the other handset had Gaps on both which I thought the dust was getting through on it!

Posted by Bonovox
Classic manufacturing weeks they can be better or worse.

Posted by Miss UK
Personally I will be upset if this does get Dust in it cos it certainley is a Neat little phone,
and I think it has to one of the best phones about currentley with amazing battery life.

everything else about at the moment is weak for Battery performance
so ive read (prior other topics here of course to)

Posted by phonecrzy
its beautiful i want it SOO BAD its soo nice!!!!

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Its an absolute beauty of a phone, much better looking than my 5800 lol. NOKIA have done very well with battery life in their S60v5 phones, i do a lot of web browsing, Fb, Twitter and listen to music for long periods, and i never have to worry about my 5800 dying before bedtime.

Posted by Miss UK
LOL lets see how it is in another 2x weeks from now since my other
other ceased with dust around the same length of time

actually this second phone has a better touch interface,
more responsive to touch etc...

been using all week and just charged it up second time only this week
I would love it if it didn't get any dust in "Fingers crossed"

New Firmware update out for both X6 and 5230:
http://www.gsmarena.com/new_s[....]5230_up_to_speed-news-1623.php
Its the same update the 5800 got 2weeks ago, going by the changelog:
-Kinetic Scrolling in the whole UI
-Updated Web browser to v7.2, TOTALY worth the update as its A LOT faster, and now has kinetic scrolling in web pages
-Ovi Sync2.0
-Music Store is now Ovi Music
-Ovi Maps3.03 with Free Navigation is now built-in
-Updated version of Ovi Store.
-Hurriganes Music Player (from N97mini) replaces the current Music Player.
and other bug fixes and improvements.

Posted by Miss UK
Bono, Pm'ed me about that,
as my phones a Vodafone handset I guess it will be the last one to recieve that update
thanks though...

ive got Version 12 atm no problems with it!

Posted by JohnM
Mine's on v20.... seems a bit faster in operation than it was on v12. Stable so far...... so good

Posted by Miss UK
DARM O2 approved that update quick then, Cant moan tho got no probs with the phone at all V12 seems alrite, 3rd wk ntwk hoping dust wont get into the screen lmao!

Posted by JohnM
Had my X6 over 2 months now, and no dust under screen

Mine was an o2 handset but debranded it to generic fw, so get the latest updates pretty much straight away.

Posted by Miss UK
I Did that to a 2nd hand N80 ages ago, doesnt it void ur warranty do ya know? branding doesnt bother me got Voda startups and a few apps but no logo on the phone!

Posted by Bonovox
I don't think networks even care or notice if you debrand. It does not devoid warranty it's just branding you have not opened it or anything. Any dust problems on new one Miss?

Posted by Tsepz_GP
If you do debrand it, just change the product code to the original afterward, that way if they need to reflash it at Voda it will jus reload the Voda fw again, they will never find out.

Posted by Bonovox
And how the hell do you change the product code Though I know where it is.

With NSS (Nemesis Service Suite): http://www.b-phreaks.co.uk/files/NSS/NSS103815.zip (6.95mb)
You do the following:
1.Run NSS.
2. Plug phone into a USB port and select 'pc suite' on phone.
3. In NSS click 'scan for new devices'.
4. Click phone info.
5. Click enable product code and enter the product code you want to use.
6. Click 'write'
7. When complete unplug phone and exit NSS.
8.Now run NSU.

lol I just think i'll leave my phone alone...
Vodafone seriousley don't over log there phones so I don't know why most people
completely rant about that

btw when I upgrade the firmware when I backup the phone via the phone backup
will all the Gavin & Stacey content still be intact?

I don't care if it theres on the phone tbh,
but when Icome to sell it,
then im sure there will be some fans of that show exspecting it tobe on the phone

Well about 4 weeks ago, my X6's left speaker (when in landscape) started to crackle. Not too impressed as it was not quite 3 months old. Sent it to Nokia for repair, and almost 3 weeks on still haven't got my phone back. Was told it must've been lost in transit, though on their repair checker page it stated they have received my handset, in fact that was the status when checked about 4 days after posting. Been told I will get a replacement, so watch this space. Can't believe they managed to loose it though!

Posted by Miss UK
Good god how pathetic is that,
when my phones fail I just let the network sort it out for me now!

beforehand i used to travel into Birmingham and use a nokia repair centre down there!
anyway hope you get your shiny new phone soon, maybe they will give you the 32GB model for your trouble

Posted by Bonovox
I once had a phone which was stolen at the City Link depot in Sandwell. And it showed as a chrge on my Vodafone bill Bastards. Never paid it

Posted by Miss UK
oh dear Vodafone huh
they used to give me some trouble with them when I first joined
them but now they can't bend over backwards for me enuff

do wish they'd hurry up and sort that new firmware update out for the X6 though

Posted by Bonovox
Vodafone are known for slow firmware updates so I read

Posted by Miss UK
Some updates come out quick but often I find alot of people moaning cos there slow too

Posted by JohnM
Good news, got a new phone to replace it, only 16gb model though still, not complaining. Just happy it got resolved fairly swiftly.

Posted by Miss UK
Oh goody John imglad they gave you a new one

im actually beginning to get bored of mine now since the Android
came on the scene anyway and now there the new iPhone coming

darnnnngggg and i can't afford any of emm

Posted by JohnM
Tell me about it! I'm seriously tempted to hit the pre-order button on the apple website for iphone 4..... or do I wait for the N8?? God knows! lol

Posted by Miss UK
lol wait for your next upgrade John,
the iPhone may get cheaper then

or, there will be something heaps better by then

Posted by JohnM
Long time till my next upgrade though that new iphone looks soooo tempting!

Posted by Miss UK
I want to
asked CPW if they'd do a trade in on my X6 and they said they'd give me £90 for it
looks like im gunna have to save up and think about it after September,
the X6 is alrite like but the OS is just so Old dated Nokia need to re-invent themselves do a Android
beater or something cos it's the same System in all the N Series, so OLD ...

I wish I had waited and i wish my Tocca Ultra had just failed now not a few months ago

Know what you mean, will wait till all the hysteria for the new iphone has subsided.... maybe wait to see what the N8 is like, compare the 2 and go from there. Have to say, don't find the X6 as well supported as my trusty old 5800XM. Not as much on OVI for the X6 as the 5800, yet to all intents and purpose, it is the same device, with some improvements. Don't get Nokia sometimes!

Posted by Miss UK
Yeah im gunna pay of a few things ive just gone and bought a PC,
from work after my taste of Windows 7 earlier this year ive been pineing for it

once ive paid everything of now I might get a iPhone or something high standard,
the X6 is ok but the OS is just so old and boring anxious to see what they have done to the N8 anyway

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Couldnt agree more Miss_UK and JohnM
After nearly 7months with my 5800xm, although happy that its stable and very productive im REALLY bored of the UI and lack of interesting apps, awful 3rd party web browsers and stale UI. My upgrade is in 2wks and im taking the big X10. I was going to wait for N8 but i dont see much happening that side really, as Symbain^3 is still basically S60v5 with some upgrades here and there, i think it would be best to get a Android device now, skip S^3 and get a good Symbian^4 device in 18months time. There's no doubt the N8 will be a hit, but if you want lots of fun apps and games i think Android or iPhone4 is the best bet at the moment.

Posted by Miss UK
lol how many more agree

it's so dissapointing that Nokia haven't got with the latest tech I know there
trying to keep costs down and such but if they don't get there arses into gear
they will be falling down the Mobile ladder

HTC and other companies are doing well with Android systems,
and now that pesky little Apple is back well

I wish Vodafone would hurry up and approve the update for the X6,
ive noticed that everytime I turn the phone on somehow and muck thru setting the Vodafone
Apps has always got a Star by it saying it's open, ive deleted The RSS feeds but it still remains the same

Posted by JohnM
I'm surprised Nokia have stuck so rigidly in recent months with symbian, and not dabbled with Android OS like alot of the other big players.

Posted by Miss UK
Maybe they're in secrecy devoping something so to speak

Haha, yeah...... more symbian devices!

Posted by Miss UK
Symbian Android we hope

Posted by duo_m
oh God! please! no more android! it's the lazy man's way out. the only thing that the manufacturers would do is slap a custom UI on it and that's it! it's winmo once again.

kudos to nokia for sticking to their guns. also, big ups for palm and RIM.
