@groovepeppy

Nice character. Is that one of your local comic character?

Kabayan (or Kababayan) in our country means countryman.

Off topic: You posted in the Elm thread that you've got Hiron's handset_o_call driver to work. Did it increase the in-call earpiece volume? I would be willing to try it again but I'm concerned that I might lose my earpiece volume again. Can You kindly upload the original handset_0_call file?

Cheers.

Posted by groovepeppy
kabayan is not a comic, he is a hundreds of years old humour story told.
He is good and never do any harm lol
i will upload it in the morning but if you want to try just go ahead now, i guarantee you it will work on Elm (not sure if it will on Hazel since slider phone have more acoustic files according to the slider wether it was opened or closed)
just remember to turn the clear voice and noise shield on.
I myself once couldn't figure it out how to make it work but however it was solved just like that

was doing a backread of this thread and looking at those wonderful posted sample shots of the Hazel makes me think of selling my Wave5253 and get a Hazel... really rocks when it comes to photos!

great photos, guys! and kudos as well to my fellow Pinoys here!

@ aldrinus

Just would like to share my thoughts on Elm/Hazel. It's excellent at daylight, but has problems at lowlight having some light horizontal lines on the picture, and Hazel units suffer from a bit of a yellowish LED flash, don't know about the newer units if it was fixed, Elm on the other hand has no problems on the LED flash.

If you're going to use it only for daylight pictures or as long as there is sufficient light like inside stores/malls its great and it records good quality videos too. Still hoping that will release a firmware update that will totally remove the light lines on lowlight pictures

thanks a lot, kabayan! you're tip is much appreciated

been an avid and rabid user for the longest time. i'm more into camera when it comes to phones that's why. i am actually torn between a Vivaz and Hazel. bigay ko na lang sa daughter ko yung Wave 5253 ko pag nakabili ng hopefully within this month! and Hazel so far fits my bill... i just hope that our smart driver modders here could come up with something to correct what you have observed and improve the Hazel's cam performance.

Posted by reeflotz
most of us here are hoping for a modded camera driver or at least a fix from

Edit: Btw the other members were the first ones to notice the horizontal lines appearing on lowlight pictures.

Haven't tried it again. A bit busy with work atm. Might try it over the weekend.

I turned on 3G and noticed that the call quality improved considerably which surprised me since I am getting most of the time a stronger signal when on GSM mode only. There is a noticeable toll in battery life but I do charge my phone as often as possible so there is no real problem really. Both clear voice and noise shield are turned off.

Hello kabayan!

Did you get a Hazel already? I agree with reeflotz that the Elm and Hazel both have problems in taking low light pictures. I got tired of all the so called smartphones already and am now using the Elm as my main phone. I am waiting for SE to release another decent feature phone with a great camera to replace my Elm.

Posted by reeflotz
Waiting for a feature phone too with great camera and video recording capabilities , If only put xenon flash on Elm/Hazel it would have been one of the best cameraphones ever released by . I was supposed to buy c901 but it's very difficult to find one now here in the Philippines which is why I ended up buying Hazel. But still it's a great phone because the price for its feature set is already a good deal and it delivers excellent daylight photos and great audio quality. It even beats the old 7.2mp sony cybershot digicam my sister has in daylight photography

Dont you find texting on the phone awkward? The bottom of the phone juts and and makes it uncomfortable to text

Hi Jojo!

I haven't really decided to get the Hazel yet and in reference to Ree's earlier post, I am also actually looking for the C901. I consider that as the most likely successor to my previous K810i as both are Cybershot and thus, true capable camera phones. When I inquired about its availability from a local SE specialty store here about two weeks ago, the sales guy told me that the model has gone out of production/release in the Philippines already. Indeed, Ree and I would be lucky enough to find one, not a used one, as I prefer a new unit.

I'm not much into smartphones although the current Samsung Wave GT-S5253 my wife recently gifted me looks/feels/acts like one! It actually is a performance hybrid unit based on its new Bada OS and I really find it amazing, save for the AF-less 3.2mp camera (never mind the flash/light).

Before I forget that this is Hazel/Elm thread, and an at that... and before going off-topic ... some great sweeping shots you got there, Reeflotz! bravo!

Posted by reeflotz
@ aldrinus

thanks

@ mriley

texting feels fine, there's a small allowance in between the keypad and the bottom of the phone's slider so it does not really jut out, although I think if I have big hands, or fat fingers I might feel uncomfortable pressing the 1,2,3 buttons.

Posted by mriley
@reeflotz
Ah, you have the Hazel, i thought you owned the Elm
The bottom of the Elm juts out like this into your hand, one of the main issues of it for me
I see the Hazel doesnt have this problem but as you said the 1,2,3 keys seem cramped

Posted by reeflotz
I wish there will be a Hazel avatar soon I'm waiting for it, anyway, I see, it does jut out at the bottom.

Hazel's keypad is completely flat which at first kind of felt a little awkward but I got used to it

Yeah, I want a Hazel avatar too.
For me at least, I prefer the Hazel's keypad over my old K550, the latter phone is a pain to text with.
A couple of more shots for you delectation.

nice shots , I like the first one and the second one with that ray of light coming from above, looks cool

This is jojosiscar mate (changed username). Tried hiron's call acoustic already with clear voice and noise shield both set to ON. It seems that voice quality during a call is louder now. Will post in the Hazel/Elm thread feedback when I had tested fully the phone this week. Cheers!

How do you capture screenshots of the Elm? It seems that the latest version of MyPhoneExplorer doesn't support that feature for the Elm.

@jojo

I use DiplayReader and it works well

Nice shot of the A330! Did you work at the airport?

Posted by jms2367
@run_dawn

No, I don't work at the airport. My work requires me to travel occasionally a couple of times a year.

Do you work for an airline? How did you recognize the model of the plane?

Posted by degraaff
This one is uploaded straight from my Elm! I was surprised of Elm's fast upload speed via wi-fi.
