Elm has many powers...if could only be modded, it would destroy anything

agreed The Elm/Hazel is the start of a new breed of SE phones without the traditional(&artificial) limitations of Cybershot/Walkman classes.

Just wondering, ELM is an A2 platform right? so it won't be affected by viruses. But my Elm comes with a trial version of F-secure mobile anti virus scanner.

i am curious, what limitations are you talking about?

Posted by NoroBiik
Before the W995 ( the last of the walkman line), if you got a walkman phone you got great sound but the camera was substantially inferior to the camera of the Cybershot line. If you got a Cybershot, you got a great cam & good sound but the Walkman's audio quality was much better.

LG&Samsung were churning out models whose cam&audio were equally pretty good so the SE strategy no longer made sense.

Elm audio is very good, the W995's is still better but that's a more expensive phone. I knew SE would break it's rules with the W995 btw it being the last of the line, its a walkman phone with a near-Cybershot cam and a normal earphone jack & its LED flash is much brighter than the Elm's. Was really determined to get it& glad I did

But the Elm has 3G/HSPA, Wifi, great sound, great cam µ-SD card compatibility (earphone jack is still proprietary alas) at a price point that can't be beat. I've always envied the Nokia E52 for those very qualities, its the model that changed my mind about Nokia phones -now SE has a phone that can match it & with a much better cam and decent video (finally).

Elm figurine shot EV +0 macro flourescent lighting

W995 figurine shot EV -3 macro flourescent lighting

Elm shot is sharper but the W995 is truer to the original colors. Note too how I had to tone down the EV of the W995 - it collects more light than the Elm.

Does the elm really have no night mode when using the camera? I checked the video mode and it has the option to set night mode but the camera doesn't seem to have. And is there already a solution to the blue and orange lines that appear when ev is increased?

Can anybody tell me whats the latest firmware version of ELM? Im from Philippines..

You need to not ask them questions in the picture thread.

How rude of you. But your right, maybe this isn't the right thread to post such questions.

Goldcrow I only said that because we have to keep on topic in the threads or the mods will tell us off

Guys I have a small request, please do something by which we will be able to understand which photo is from which camera, Elm and Hazel are combined here, so it's hard to know which is from Hazel and which is from Elm.
Thanks.

Posted by mriley
@ithehappy
It doesn't matter which is which they both have the same camera module

Posted by Bonovox
Well in that case do we have anyone here yet with a Hazel?

Posted by masada1971

Oh nice one that would be great. Do we have anyone here who can show this gentleman in a diagram of how to post pictures here? Rather than me trying to explain it. Thanks.

Posted by mriley
@masada1971
Do you want to post a little picture that when you click on it, will take you to a full size picture?
Like this:

You can also post pictures in a large size

Posted by masada1971
yes, thats what i mean..how can i post them in large size?thanks in advance...

Posted by mriley
Create a Flickr account
Upload a photo
View it from the 'You' tab
Click on photo, click on 'All sizes' option
Copy and paste the HTML from the bottom of the photo into your post

Posted by Bonovox
I will say most of the Elm/Hazel photos are less than 2mb in size.

Posted by mriley
Esato compresses them, you cant see proper quality unless you upload full size IMO

Posted by masada1971
hope i made it right this time...

That's a beautiful photo!!!! Love the sunrise on the water. Can't wait for my holidays to snap some decent ones of the sea

Posted by goldcrow
If only the Elm can take decent night shots without the annoying blue and orange lines, then add a xenon flash and lens cover, it'd be almost perfect.

Posted by Bonovox
Just be patient I am sure them lines will go in an update but in the meantime just turn down exposure 2 notches as I said. That helps make them vanish. It is a software issue if you turn exposure up in darkness even on video & look at the screen you can see the lines flickering up & down the screen. Try it. And stop wishing about the Xenon flash cos it's not going to happen I myself hardly bother with indoor shots on mobiles but you can get good night shots off this phone with a decent amount of night lights around & by turning down the exposure a little. Also put it in night shot.

Posted by goldcrow
Well I am patiently waiting for this so-called update they're hopefully going to release soon. In the mean time, I'm stuck with morning and afternoon shots, no problem. And btw, nothing wrong with wishing right? but I find that the Elm fits all the needs of the average mobile and camera user without breaking the bank.

Posted by Bonovox
Yeah it's decent for the price but nothing will ever be perfect no phone is. I am unsure when or how often they release updates but I may get onto first thing tomorrow see if I can get an answer wishful thinking on my part that is
