Avatar (the movie)

Hi, just wanna open a crit session of the movie . Firstly, while the concept of the movie is mind-blowing and quite applicable to the current global situation involving a certain 'super power', I'm quite surprised it became one of the all-time blockbusters at such a short period of time looking at its science fiction nature. Titanic (also by James Cameron), I can understand since it's intriguing to immerse yourself in a very significant part of history intertwined with fiction and love, wondering 'did it really happen that way' eventhough you know it didn't. But can people from all walks of life embrace sci-fi of Avatar's scale? Well apparently the ticket sales have proven so which makes Avatar even more successful than the Titanic IMO since it has managed to garner cross-over audiences with such a niche theme.

Secondly I find that there is a poetic irony to the fact that Sigourney Weaver was chosen to be one of the intrusive 'aliens' in a 'local's body for this latest blockbuster when this is in fact a 180 degrees reversal of her role from her first blockbuster Alien. I'm wondering if she was chosen specifically for this to somehow add to the movie's X-Factor subconsciously since it has never been mentioned anywhere AFAIK.

Thirdly, I'm amused at how the humans take others' land and talk about counter-terrorism to justify it. Funny how Pandora starts with the letter P lol
