Yahoo does not provide pop services to free accounts.

if i understood you correctly, the login failure happend because you type incorrectly your yahoo id/password. if you are using rocketmail/ymail you must type your full email address and a correct password, another thing is as StevenC said, yahoo free account does not allow automatic syncronisation...

Nokia N86 works fine with my yahoo mail (free account) why not in SE?
