MWC is the last chance for SE...

Posted by Sutitan
agreed. give me a decent camera + xenon flash or give me Motoroi. Ive owned only SE's, but there they arent holding my attention anymore.

so now, its possible right for abelin to have 3inch screen..

now, will we see abelin vs trophy (android vs window 6.5)..as far as im concern, both will have almost the same spec...screen, camera, qwerty...etc

Great.
SE continues on WM 6.5.3.
Nice. I consider this.

Good that SE is clearing place for big announcements on MWC...

Posted by XPHCTOC
Santa +1 it would be a very clever move. Few phones but GREAT phones.
What should announce SE at MWC??? Robyn, Abelin + a windows phone 7 + kanna???

also good to see that the panels aren't dead and aren't only affiliated to the xperia brand

With the early announcement of faith I'm now sure that SE will surprise us a LOT...

(is the idea of a Zunephone build by SE totally crazy??? it would be a dream phone)

There's something that's been bugging me for the past few days. WinMo 7 is rumored to be sporting Xbox Live! connectivity. How would this work out with SE phones, considering that both brands duke it out in the gaming arena?

Same with Zune branding. Why would SE allow a third party music device brand on their phones when they already have Walkman?

All this makes me think that the SE WinMo7 phones would be heavily customized versions not sharing much with the standard OS.

Am I dreaming or is there a windows media player on my Xperia X1...
but you're right there is a incompability between playstation and the rumored xbox live on windows phone 7*
*don't call it windows mobile 7

Windows media player is fine. It's just the name of the software player. But Zune is a brand of hardware that directly competes with the Walkmans.

We'll just have to wait and see how this unfurls.

It seems SE hasn't changed its design much, and it's still ugly. Or maybe it'll repeat Vivaz success - when it first leaked, everyone sait it's ugly, but now you like it.

Ant that name is horrible. Aspen... what's that, maybe asparagus?

Aspen is a nice tree.

Posted by Supa_Fly
Aspen is also a name of a mountain.

I'm glad I got the Bold 9700. This is too much a niche product for , good attempt and having dust/water repellant abilities, if marketed right could be well worth it being in existence.

Posted by mediar
I didn't know it. I checked what does this word meanin Bulgarian, I didn't know it's a tree. However in bulgarian, Aspen sounds very similar to asparagus ( our name and its pronunciation of this food ).

Posted by Santa_Claus
SE is promising affordable price for Aspen. If they play it right on the price level I think this can be great success for SE. I can easily see big corporations equipping its sales force with Aspen.

Well, I think that's how they got the idea to make Aspen reality and the SE's primary target with Aspen are business consumers...

I think this is one of the smartest move from SE in last three years...

Any ideas about Kanna? Not so sure anymore about this device...

around 300 EUR AFAIK

Posted by se_dude
Will be great if sold around the 250-300 euro mark.

Posted by domipost
250 max to compete with the Snap imo IF the RRP is 300, that level will be easily doable for online shops

A countdown to start proceedings.

Posted by xell
To new XPERIA, EU & something other?

Posted by mediar
Since Vivaz and Aspen got released, I wonder what kind of phones will take their place at MWC 2010. From the intro of the countdown I get the feeling it'll be something impressive. I hope we won't get disappointed.

Posted by jack00
this intro is promising a lot!
T68i, T610, K850, W810 .... what could possibly continue the line of success ?

I suppose you mean K750?

Don't see anything better than X10 and Vivaz coming out of them soon, to be honest, but who knows

Aspen is also a famous touristic center in Colorado, USA... They held there the World Championships in skiing once

There are better devices from SE!

Posted by domipost
Don't doubt that, but are they coming out anytime soon?

Posted by echo.shane
i believe they are going to release a full touch java phone a300 or whatever. so if you asked me they are changing slowly but surely so starting from the oldest we have: W995, Yari, Aino, Satio, X2, X10, Vivaz and Aspen. If you check the phone i listed they have unique features you cant compare and we have a Winmo for people who like they slide out qwerty and bar qwerty.

if elm and hazel for cheap they will do well btw did sony ericsson abandon the cybershot and walkman name brand haven't see once since forever..... omg let this year be a big sucess for Sony Ericsson

im definitely getting and x10 though

Aspen is odd, a business phone with touchscreen in a candybar QWERTY form factor?

Samsung and HTC both have had similar models. BB is working on something similar too.

Odd??!!

Functional! Remember Pseries??!!

Duh!

@echo.shane
I seem to remember someone (I think maybe it was badassmam but not sure) said the next cybershot was looking like end of 2010. I think the general feeling was IF there was another cybershot coming then that would be it.

Posted by king-james
Will we see new devices at the show or have we already seen all?
I mean without X10, Robyn, Vivaz, and Aspen... I hope SE will present some High-End Devices like the X10.

Posted by goldenface
I'm guessing the possible appearance of Satio 2 - if not the announcement then a preview of some sort.

I wouldn't be surprised if we seen some lower mid-range touch screen phone(s), as this is what SE is lacking atm. Remember a couple of years ago when Dicky, referring to TS phones said, "we either embrace this technology or die" or something like that. Well I wouldn't be surprised if we see even more TS phones of all shapes and sizes.

They've a lot of ground to make up after all and I don't think they want to become a niche manufacturer again like they were years ago.

Anyone thinks there is chance of announcing a psp phone? Maybe the same form factor as the psp go - side slider. There is no need for UMD drive anymore, since the games can be downloaded and iphone/ipod touch proved that the market for mobile games exists. The screen can be smaller and the memory only 8 gb.

Posted by domipost
Would be nice indeed Think they won't go much further than Yari-like things, though...

Posted by juris15
maybe a phone with remote play like the one in aino but able to play games

Posted by juris15
new dev site

Posted by mediar
It looks like PlayNow's site.

There is a market for a lot of things.

I don't see a PSP phone happening until Sony and Sony Ericsson combine PlayNow and the Playstation store. To be honest, as much media related resources that sony has, it would stupid for Sony Ericsson not to leverage this. Imagine one combined store where you can access apps, games, panels, movies, music, ebooks, etc.. from a sony ericsson phone, sony psp, walkman, laptop, or playstation 3.

This would create a software ecosystem better than Apple's because of Sony's resources in movies, music, and gaming. This wuld cross-sell many Sony/SE products as well. Hopefully Howard Stringer and the ndw SE chief put them on this route because I think thats where things are going.

AMOLED anyone

Posted by hgautam
^^^Yes please... It's has been overdue for very very long now...

Posted by goldenface
As long as it doesn't fade in sunlight then I'm all for it.

Posted by XPHCTOC
I hope that a bigger thing is coming. Amoled has been adopted by many other manufacturers. That's not what I call innovation.

Posted by goldenface
I agree. We need some wow-factor.

I meant odd for SE
The P1 did not have a full QWERTY along with its touchscreen.
