codenamed "Anzu" (a lesser god of Akkadian mythology) Kinda High End
N will there be Better ANZU ?? Extreme END?? Maybe Same model with Better CAM 12mp/16mp + much thicker ?

Engadget-->>

Here's another interesting bit of gossip to take with you: we've heard from a couple of reliable sources close to the matter that the Anzu lies in the same category as the PlayStation Phone "Zeus" (also on Gingerbread but lacking the Xperia branding), and that they're being tested alongside each other. Whether this is an indication that the mystical Z-System gaming platform is heading to the Anzu, we don't know, but it makes sense given that both upcoming SE devices appear to bear the same screen size, or at least the same aspect ratio. Either way, we're told the pair will be officially announced some time before or shortly after Christmas, which again supports Xperia X10 Blog's leak. Time to stock up on some fine champagne, folks -- looks like 2011 is going to be a good year.

OLED and though I cannot confirm but has finalized a new OLED technology which they will be using in their phones. (Brighter and more efficient than Super AMOLED) IF the X12 is using that I cannot confirm but maybe it is

@ SE dude. How is it not high end? It has the same spec as desire HD and that is as high end you get today. Yes its not super high end but in 6 months these specs will still be considered high end

From Mobile-Review twitter:

*SE Vivaz/Vivaz Pro will have successors with Android (2.1 Android today, 2.3 update later) - March 2011, 300/330 Euro RRP/MSRP

*SE X10 Mini/Mini Pro will get an update around March/April 2011-slimmer, faster CPU, bigger screen-Android 2.3 + own 4 corner UI. The same price tag-200/250 Euro

*A200 platform is almost abandoned, a few new products aren't looking good. SE didn't decide yet to launch or no

*Roadmap for the 1st half of 2011 doesn't look promising. Only Anzo (X12) looks attractive. But software wise won't be up-to-date like X10 in 2010.

*SE Yendo will get QWERTY keyboard by June 2011, low end phone (ODM). 140 Euro (no Walkman brand here)

*SE Walkman for Android isn't getting a dedicated audio chip as latest HTC devices. A pity.

I don't want it that slim. It got to be balanced. The same slimness of the bottom or the same slimness of the top. I prefer it to be thicker just as in the top. It looks so fragile. We gotta wait to see what material it's made of.

Regarding the new branding, Bravia, the reason maybe is that the Ginger doesn't allow customization(?).

Where is WP7 device?

Posted by se_dude
@tyko- I dont think a cpu that weighs from 800-1ghz can be termed high end. According to sources the zeus uses the same proccy as the G2.

It seems slim is in, the galaxy s is only 10mm so this looks about 7 - 8mm which is almost impossibly slim. It amazing how they managed to fit in an AF cam module at all

i'm really wishing its not thin and that it has a16.4mp with atleast xenon flash i'd sacrifice the thiness for a great camera phone but if can make a thin phone with exelent camera, money down has my whole xmas bonus

Mobile Review is mentioning only 5 or 6 devices and only for the first half of 2011. There will be more to follow.

Yes, but its the 45nm snapdragon, same as desire HD. But yes I do agree, was hoping for a better proccy. But as long its not hampered by it i dont mind. I still think its high end and whats considered high end specs are getting out of proportion.

Posted by se_dude
Why do i feel that what MR is saying is totally obvious? I mean cummon. All phones announced at the same time last year would have a successor.
I totally think SE should look at bringing out a camera monster.

Hopefully the 7th device that eldar is saying is x12 which will be release december not q1 of 2011 i'm really hoping

Bert himself said that nowadays high ends are rated on their proccy ratings and MPs. And now he comes up with a phone which is half a year late using a proccy? Dont think so.Also the 1080p recording and encoding would need a lot of juice.

Posted by tyko
Well yes,1080p recording suggests a newer proccy. Is 45nm snapdragons capable of that?

Nov 11 is when Gingerbread is supposed to be announced.
Maybe SE will be one of the first to announce phones based on Gingerbread.

I mentioned this long back when I posted the specs that snapdragons do not support 1080p and the only chipset at the time with 1080p encode/decode was/is TI OMAP 4440.
TI OMAP has full 1080p support and camera resolution support UPTO 20 megapixels.

And the dual core snapdragon procys that do support 1080p wont be out until late 2011.

NVIDIA Tegra 2 supports 1080P playback/record. And I hear they are "out" which means they are past sampling stages and currently in development devices for a number of manufacturers (ie. LG & Motorola).

Update: Samsung's 1GHz Hummingbird also supports 1080P encode/decode.
Update 2: Ahh, the OMAP 4, that was announced late last Winter, so that is probably the SoC of choice.

coz mobile games are never rily any good. they jus time killers. unless they can pull off some awesome psp level graphics, people tht r serious about gaming will not c the point of such a phone. and for casual gamers, well u don't need a gaming phone to play bejeweled or angry birds

Posted by zub
well im thinking more in lines of emulators and stuff. roms for NES, SNES, gameboy, sega, etc, would be awesome on the PSPhone. also the PSXoid emulator for android. i already play some good'ol PS1 games on my galaxy S and some real hardware buttons will do a world of good.

a lot of people play roms and emulaotrs on their android phones, i think a lot of you are underestimating the real market for such a phone. and if a PSX emulotor can play PS1 games at full speed on current phones, im sure a purpose built PSPhone can easily handle PSP games no problem.

This is my mock-up of the Sony Ericsson Anzu:

Good Job Lollylost
Looks fantastic

Btw read this about the OMAP4 chipset

As for OMAP4, that will offer a significant performance jump over the previous-gen platform, thanks to dual 1GHz ARM A9 cores. It’ll also be a more power frugal chipset; Texas Instruments reckon that, while a roughly 1,000 mAh battery would be good for 30 to 50 hours of MP3 playback with an OMAP3, the OMAP4 will offer up to 145 hours. More impressive, however, is the video performance. The OMAP4 chipset can drive three displays simultaneously
the HDMI port can output Full HD 1080p 30fps.

The OMAP4 is also capable of 1080p 24/30fps video encoding.
According to Marcelo O Vieria, general manager of the OMAP business group, the OMAP4 1080p video codec is stronger than that of the Tegra 2, in fact he reckons TI “have a better video engine than [NVIDIA] do”. OMAP4 also supports 20-megapixel or higher image processing, as well as three simultaneous displays, and it has significantly more memory bandwidth than Tegra 2 which means it’s better at multitasking. Worth remembering, too, is that OMAP4 is suited to smartphones.
TI also claim the chipset supports “universal decode”, which basically means that no matter what the media format type you throw at it, the OMAP4 should be able to play it.
Unfortunately Texas Instruments weren’t allowing video of their OMAP4 prototype as yet, though we did take some photos of the hardware in action. Suffice to say, video playback was as smooth as if from a standalone Blu-ray player.

http://www.slashgear.com/texa[....]uments-omap4-hands-on-0172231/

I think this should allay all concerns regarding battery life

It may but not likely. Various sources including mine have confirmed the use of TI OMAP4

Personally I don't care what chipset/proccy it uses as all of em are great - TI OMAP4, ST Ericsson U8500, Tegra 2. All are wonderful new platforms

Nope its 1.5 ghz dual Core OMAP4 4440 runs at 1ghz + clock speed meaning it can be overclocked to 1.2 or 1.5... Apparently has it set at 1.5 ghz. And that makes it a higher clocked proccy than any competition. Tegra 2 is 1ghz dual core and ST Ericsson U8500 is 1.2 ghz dual core
