Now there's a powerful gaming solution. It's about time SE began leveraging it's Playstation heritage - probably the largest untapped resource still to make it to market.

I'm certainly game. I'm guessing more sweet Gingerbread devices will be announced at the same time - which should up the game a bit. Can't wait.

Thanks tranced.

Posted by motvikt
OMFG!!!! Now I know why all those "insiders" said closely developed with google and 3.0

Posted by wiraperkasa
im just hoping that it releases shortly after it has been announce or else.....

Posted by c96sthl
I hope Google really giving exclusive priority to SE for this device....
if the time Gingerbread is out officially....HTC or Samsung launch a product immediately with SE putting this new gadget as coming soon...that will look lousy

Posted by se_dude
Lets see. Some shit 1.5 ghz phone with android OS running. Meh!!

PSPhone coming this spring to rock you with exclusive GOW3 bundled. Hell yeah.

Posted by glownlow
this is gonna be f**kin sweet if it's real.

really f**kin sweet

i'm glad i've got the x10 to tide me over for this long long long long long long long long wait ahead of us now

anyone wanna take bets on how long before we start seeing pictures of this thing?

of course it'll be probably another year before announcement and another year before release.. but hey. it could be worse.

Posted by glownlow
p.s. anyone able to score some mr blurry cam shots of this rumored psp phone? c'mon.... i know they are out there.. let's see em please!

Posted by goldenface
I'm betting late Summer late Q3 or early Q4 announcement and Q1 shipping.

I'll be watching this thread for spy shots - as usual.

Posted by doministry
That's quite great.

Sucha pitty it'll be on Android. I don't like it.

Posted by goldenface
I don't think there is much of an alternative, really.

You're right. I was thinking WP7 but it will be locked to XboxLive.

Posted by goldenface
I'd prefer it with Android as it's still developing quite rapidly. Gingerbread will be a mature OS when / if this phone appears.

I'm not saying no...

I just don't like Android UI, and prefer WP7 hands down.

But who knows, maybe the device will be impressive.
And right - Android 3.0 may be amazing.

hi guys ( hamid tof tu zatet )
android 3 if a good move but it will start producing 1 year after announcement
and that is SE

Posted by Shino03
I'm eagerly waiting for the next announcement because of this! Am I the only one who still remembers the statement of SE back in 2007 that the possible PSP phone will be launch on December 2010?

Posted by glownlow
@doministry
I know you are a big fan of WM as i remember how much you love your SE X1... don't get me wrong. i still have mine as well. . . and it's still an amazing phone. but if you haven't had the privelage of dealing with android on a day to day basis. i wouldn't knock it yet, until you've tried it. i enjoy it very much. i will say the learning process of dealing with android and it's quirk's has been an interesting one. and it' only get's more stable with each update. i'm very much looking forward to trying the 2.1 update on the x10. . .

anything 3.0 and above is imo sure to be much more user friendly and stable

Posted by goldenface
I remember news back in March of SE preparing a couple on android gaming devices to be announced this year.

Now I have X2 with WM 6.5.3 which I love.
WP7 looks really good.

I've tried Android on HTC Desire. It's too much UI shapes and colours for me.
But I also know if WP7 will be limited too much, I will have no other choice.....

Posted by feryshad
hi all (specially kachalestans )

Eldar said that next announce is interesting , but release late ...

I have both X1 and X2, although I like the X2 better due to 6.5.3, better keyboard, and a little bigger screen. The main thing that is putting me off on WP7 is it seems to have too many restriction unlike the old windows mobile.

its become like the iphone os..

To be honest, for a PSPhone, release date is hardly a factor. It wont have a competitor and thats its saving grace.

Posted by se_dude
Answer by SEMC on in XDA to the psp drama

Not very likely is it, with psp neXt gen coming . The 2 divisions operates quite independently. However, an android device (running a 'high end' branch of android ) is currently in internal testing, based on TI's OMAP4400 series, and paired with LPDDR2 I believe, since the performance put that of samsung's i9000 to shame. I don't know if this is the *supposed* psp phone, but it does have an unusually wide aspect ratio screen (864*480) which could suggest a gaming 'portal' is coming to select future se devices.

Posted by rss_ndrsn
^I guess most of you celebrated too early.

I just hope that the processor is 1.5 Ghz OMAP 4440 not the OMAP 4430 and comes with the Wilink 7.0 (A chip that combines Bluetooth 3/4, Wi-fi, GPS, FM Reciever/Transmitter. which is 50 percent smaller and 30 percent cheaper than having individual chips). Also, the screen should have 326 dpi and be an SLCD one.

Cant you read? The guy clearly said that he has no idea if this is the rumoured PSP phone or not. Is pretty good on the basics and if possible, read the last line.

Are you willing to bet money on that?

Posted by se_dude
Well. I didn't think that a psphone capable of running proper 3d games would have much competition. I am obviously wrong by the looks of it though. . Btw mizzle, any leaks? Been a looong time now.

So is it official yet? No, right! Everything is still sketchy at the moment. So keep your can't-you-read sentence to yourself as it is clearly just for you.

You should consider taking some reading course or ESL. You will definitely benefit from it.

I am pretty conversant in which language am speaking in. Since its not official, your jibe was completely uncalled for.

I don't expect to get PSP standard games like PSP Tekken and all its options and game modes. The games may be shorter and not so in depth, I think it should have a PSP Go format of downloading games. iPhone games look great so they should be able to make the graphics nice. The game pad will give us an idea of how serious it is i.e. if it has an analog stick or two in which case you would imagine Modern Warfare type action.

Image how big the battery would have to be if you use it as you phone all day and games on the train? Certain things make me wonder if it will be a proper games device or a good mobile because I doubt they would make it as powerful as the current PSP because that would make a bad phone.

I don't think it will be announced that soon, Eldar would go mad over it but lets wait for some leaks. I'm not really excited about this unless the Sony Playstation people do 90% of the work. It could be the true PSP successor and a full mobile device could be the edge over Nintendo etc. but I'm more interested if they make a new PSP without pratting about. It could be great for but also, the destruction of the PSP brand. From what I have seen and heard about new phones, are still playing catch up and the hero device that is the PSP phone has to be better.

Posted by se_dude
It has been extremely hush hush about SE. And i dont think PSP or not, a Gingerbread phone with OMAP 4440 proccy is something to play catch up with.

Posted by glownlow
@badassman all the info i've heard suggests that this will NOT be the psp2 and they said the same thing about the pspGO i think this will be a high end gaming phone. but i agree with you ... if they make it all about the games .. it'll fail as a mobile... i think they are shooting for a happy medium... who knows if they will hit the bullseye or not tho.

i think mobile gaming has come a long way thx to the iphone... not that i own or like iphones i just think a lot more people are into mobile gaming because of it. having a phone with a game pad would be really nice. hope they don't forget to add multitouch this time around although i think it'd have to be a requirement for andriod 3.o

would be really cool to see a full keyboard as well. but i doubt it

the device will go on sale in the second part of 2011 at the price higher than for the similar gaming console (sounds logical, but does not include the subsidies from carriers). SE does not think it will be a mass solution, but rather a niche product for serious gamers, who want a mobile phone with traditional gaming controls. At the moment the 50% of the project is already completed.

In all honesty, I think badassmam has been shooting in the dark for a while now. Almost everything he says is an aggregate of newsbits around the world with personal commentary thrown in to impart a feeling of insider info.

No offense, but I won't be taking his words for granted on this one. It was in the presses a while ago that a proper PSP2 is undergoing testing in the UK for months now and it supposedly has a 4 core cell processor.

That is a whole different project from this and would decidedly have better graphics than a PSPhone would have.

Who cares what Eldar sais.... It's crap mostly anyway...

PSP2 seems to be an interesting device with the specs we have been hearing so far (From wikipedia, it is rumoured to have GPU capability of 532M polygons per second, fill rates in excess of 16Gpixels/sec @400 MHz), but will it still run the Linux OS that the previous models have? It would actually be nice it if runs on Android, kind of like the iPod Touch. Then, SE would release a phone counter part.

I guess if SE and Sony would like to copy the success of iPhone and iPod Touch, then the PSP games must be forever exclusive to PSP and PSPhone (if there's really such device). Android is an open source. Manufacturers using the OS for their devices would easily have access to PSP games if given go signal from Android, which I think SE and Sony will have less power to control. Thus, SE's PSPhone will not be unique and will get increase competition from other Android smartphones. Should SE proceed with the PSPhone, an exclusive agreement with Android is the way to go to secure SE and Sony's interests.

@synn

You're welcome to doubt me but I just saw the device and I can tell you exactly how serious they are about gaming on it but I'll let describe it for you when the time eventually comes

^Could you explain further the games compatibility to other Android smartphones? Are the games exclusive to SE or not? Are the games going to be played using the physical buttons only, or there's some that are not as well?

(...)The phone is mostly black with some silver highlights, and the gamepad area is white / silver in color.(...)

Looks like SE design but...

Posted by goldenface

Well it looks like anyone's idea of what a psphone could be I suppose, we already have quite a good idea of what it looks like.

Posted by emuneee
I wish Sony Ericsson kept this phone under wraps until they were ready to announce....now there are about to be months of hype and inflated expectations.

Posted by wiraperkasa
@badassman,

so have you seen anything from that resembles this?
