I bet it's because it looks outdated when next to the N8.

A 'Vivaz 2' is more than likely to be lower than a 'Satio 2'. I also wonder why this is a Vivaz not a Satio successor. The Satio is need of a revamp in both hardware, software and reputation. There was not much wrong with the Vivaz and so its replacement could still be delayed while more Android phones are released.

Get your priorities right, SE!

by priorities, sales is more important for SE.so a 350 euro 12mp camera surely could sale.thats priority!

Posted by Dups!
Really now? A £500 Satio brings in more cash than a £350 Vivaz when put together properly and with relatively stable software.

Besides, Vivaz is selling very well compared to the current Satio so why derail those sales with another £350 Vivaz with 12mp camera?

Now, that's what I call priority!!!

i'm waiting for satio successor too.

care to show me the figure that stated satio satio bring more cash than vivaz?and hey, you yourself admit vivaz is selling well, satio got a bad name due to earlier firmware disaster. in SE mind, maybe vivaz successor could bring more success to them.how can it derail vivaz sales if it doesnt even announce yet?could you give me the time when the 12mp vivaz start selling?

Posted by Dups!
I was saying a £500 Satio successor put together, stable and marketed well would bring more cash than a £350 Vivaz successor. The point is if the 12mp Vivaz sells 100 000 devices and the Satio successor sells the same the money would be made on the Satio successor.

The Vivaz has a lot of shelf life left in it, it was only just released in late march and reports suggest the 12mp Vivaz is scheduled for release in Q3 which would definitely erode the current Vivaz's sales. That is where my whole point comes from.

Posted by bronxdude
So should release the walkman android as to not hurt Vivaz's sales.

Posted by Dups!

Yes, that is a much better bet at this stage. Rumours suggest a 5mp camera, Android and 16GB internal memory. That is a perfect phone to introduce while finishing up 'Satio 2', it will likely sell and never bother the Vivaz.

I get a feeling SE are changing their minds about the number of phones they intend to release due to the last financial results.

I still say release the walkman phone in Q3, Satio 2 in Q3 or even Q4 and an Xperia windows phone in Q4. Drop an A- platform phone that is touchscreen now in Q3 alongside the walkman and maybe the Satio 2. Add a few mid-end phones to complete this year and you carry out extensive marketing/advertising on your 'big guns' and let the consumers do the rest. Of course pricing is equally important.

Hmmm... maybe I should get serious about working for SE

Posted by io_bg
16 gb internal memory would be awesome I'm thinking of buying Vivaz this Christmas ( ) but if they announce that Walkman and if it has a great camera (like the one in C901) I might wait a bit more for it's release

Posted by badassmam
Add +1 or +2 to each Q (maybe not the Walkman though)

Dups!

This will sell. They just have to put the basics:
3.5mm jack
at least 3.2 capacitive touchscreen
long battery life

And add some more:
FLAC Support

AND

98% bug-free software and quality build.

Im just hoping they have a phone that has xVid/DivX/Avi support.

I can tell you that 98 percent of what you suggest will be in/on that phone.

The X10 can be regarded as pretty stable and so is the HTC Desire on Android 2.1. 3.5mm is a given, build quality is likely to be okay and FLAC support is already included on Spiro or is it the other one of the just announced low end walkman phones  So, it should be in the flagship walkman phone. 3.2 is another one that has been rumoured so that's covered.

The one thing I highly doubt is DIVX support out of the box. The other being the battery standby time, Android seems to be notorious for high battery usage by itself. The OS needs more optimization in the battery area.

Posted by io_bg
What about the camera of that new walkman? It is 5 MP but what flash will it have? Double LED maybe? The megapixels aren't that important, the camera sensor is. And if it's big enough, the camera might even be better than some 8 mp phones!

I think should include that already. Media Go is such a pain in the ass.

5MP cam is ok. As long as its really good.

So when th X10 minis would be on shelves , we might have a clue about the Walkmanian VIVAZ ?

July maybe ? with the IPhone 4G

XPERIA X10 to get HD video recording and Android 2.1 in Q4

Aino special edition with new design?
http://semcblog.com/2010/05/0[....]edition-of-sony-ericsson-aino/

Posted by io_bg
Could that new Aino be the android phone?

Posted by blizaga
It's still the Aino(we knew) I think. Just with extra new features. Heres hoping for a full touch Aino.

Posted by Dups!
Here we go again! If this is true then I can guess that they have too a lot of leftovers of the original Aino that they want to re-use. Same hardware and software or slightly improved with a different design and try to make more money.

I also would rather have them bring out a new Aino that is full touch instead of the partial touch that didn't sell that well.

if they do that, ill dump my aino and move to the new one. hope it has 3.5mm jack

Posted by se_love
Partial is why I almost bought it. I hope its hybrid and has both.

Posted by blizaga
I forgot the 3.5mm jack.. Hope they add it up too, if they are going to modify the hardware.

Posted by io_bg
My wish list for the new Aino is:
1) full touchscreen, at least 3.2" (and without the keys, this way the phone can be about 12-13 mm thick)
2) nHD or WVGA resolution of the screen
3) Xenon flash
4) 3.5 mm jack
5) OS - either Android or the A2 platform

I came across this powerful smartphone U8500 processor by STericsson on youtube.com, and I must say, it is very powerful processor. Tegra and Snapdragon are nothing compared to this one.

Here's the spec:

Features
•Full HD 1080p camcorder, multiple codecs supported
(H264 HP, VC-1, MPEG-4)
•High-resolution, touchscreen display support up to XGA

OpenVG 1.1 and OpenGL ES 2.0
•Dual camera support with Integrated ISP 18 Mpixel and 5 Mpixel
•Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS enabled platform
•Built-in USB 2.0, HDMI out
•Support for multiple operating systems, Symbian, Android
and Linux-based platforms
•Optional support for mobile TV standards

Technology
•Highly efficient, low-power ARM dual Cortex™- A9 processor
•Dual multimedia DSP for low-power, flexible media processing
•High-bandwidth LP-DDR2 interface
•ARM Mali™ 400 GPU and NEON®CPU extensions

•Unique audio architecture with a wide range of audio codecs supported
•Advanced power saving architecture enabling class-leading audio and video playback times

Demostration video:

It occured to me that this might be the processor of the rumoured Sony and SE device that we have all been waiting for. By just looking at the specs, it is a perfect match to run Playstation Go games. What do you think?

Posted by jjjajjj
^^ wow its so impressive, i hope SE use it in the next xperia phone

Posted by badassmam
This processor is quite far away from our mobiles but still very impressive. There are Qualcomm processors clocking 1.5GHz and the new Intel processor is powerful as well. The Qualcomm may come to the HTC 'HD3' near the end of the year. At the moment, nothing is really using Snapdragon to its full ability which maybe the reason why Tegra has only been used for computers and not phones. The day I see phones apart from lagging with 1GHz, I'll take this into account.

Hope not, only both if it's got full TS otherwise it will be a big failure, as we all saw by Aino's terrible sales.

@badassmam- The Nexus 1.

OMG! The upcoming Blackberry slider phone sports 5 megapixel camera with "Liquid Lense Technology." The said type of lense is way better than what Nokia N8 has. What SE has come up lately with their camera technology? Nokia and Blackberry are taking the mobile camera to the next level. SE has to be "spontaneous" or else they will be left behind (if they are not yet already).

That's what I mean, give it the Vivaz Pro treatment with the qwerty and touch screen.

I wish Satio 2 to be an android. That will definitely give it an edge over N8.

When is the next announcement???
Will we see new high-end phones this year or was this already everything???

My guess is we'll see some high-end stuff in the fall for a christmas release. I'm sure Sony Ericsson wants to capitalize on the X10 products before cannibalizing their own sales with another product announcement.

Posted by Dups!
I also don't expect any high end phones anytime soon except maybe the rumoured full touch walkman phone announced around June.

We probably are going to get high ends in September (announcements) if I were to guess.

Posted by domipost
Think they'll follow their standard pattern. So we should se someting fairly big in june or july and something in september. That's it, I think.

Posted by king-james
Ok guys thanks for this information. So we must wait very longgggg.

I hope, SE also annouce norm phones, not only smartphones. We need successors of C902, C905 and a big clamshell W980 with good cameras and bigger screens!!! Not everybody wants use a touchphone. SE must concentrate to high-end phones and high-end Smartphones. Not these low phones like X10 Mini / Pro, Vivaz, Elm, Hazel....
If I look to the new Samsung Galaxy S, this phone beat the whole portofolio of SE easy, even the new NOKIA N8 can! The X10 is nothing. SE is too slow! But SE has the best Design!!! @ SE please present us some real high-end devices.

Greetings
John

N8''s camera sensor is its selling point, not the Symbian^3 OS. Unless SE can match the camera it won't have an edge regardless of the OS it uses.

this shall be the next processor on the successor of the feature-packed-for-nothing Satio...

@murderjon touchscreen is a trend so will stick to it but the flip side is is doing it wrongly. nevertheless, must release better smartphones than the feature-packed-for-nothing Satio... BTW, x10 is great! try to have it in your hand for one day...

Posted by rss_ndrsn
^Not only that. The Satio successor should also comes with a 3D screen and a 3D camera. Since it is more likely to be released next year, those features just seem right.

Posted by Dups!
Wow! You guys are ambitious, aren't you?

I have a feeling the Satio 2 is probably going to use the same processor as the Vivaz, probably clocked higher than the Vivaz.

I am not convinced of amoled screen advantages over TFT so wouldn't be surprised if the screen only gets a higher resolution. Who knows, maybe SE will be swept by the amoled screen craze and utilise it but to me it offers nothing major in comparison to the lovely TFT.

I love my phones to be legible in the sun and also have realistic colour production indoors.

If they can use super-amoled (which I doubt seeing that Samsung isn't licensing them out yet) then I agree that that screen type is superb from the screen shot I've seen. I have seen a number of amoled screen in person and was never impressed.

Posted by rss_ndrsn
^Satio's successor is not the one what Eldar said to compete with N8-00. I believe Satio 2 and Vivas 2 are two different devices.

Posted by rss_ndrsn
The Super Amoled screen of Samsung is the best screen as the moment. Not only it produces vivid colors and is very visible in bright conditions, the screen is also "thin," which helps keep a device slim form.

Posted by Dups!
No, I am not even thinking of what Eldar mentioned, I'm merely pointing what I think Satio 2 is likely to be. That is my opinion based on SE's current strategy.

The other possibilities are optical zoom and maybe Wimax.

I wouldn't expect things like 3D screen and a different processor than the current Satio.

I may be wrong but for now that's what I think is likely to happen.

What`s up?
Haven`t been here for a long time.
I see there`s a talk about Satio 2 and Vivaz 2.
Is there anything expected to be improved?

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
Apparently the X10 is the fastest selling DoCoMo handset ever selling 120000 in just the first 3 weeks on sale in Japan. I must say this definitely sounds good for future phones as SE must finally have worked out what sells!

Posted by wiraperkasa
ok now prepared the x10 successor with multitouch, super amoled, 8mp camera with better module, same 4 inch, dual speaker, bluetooth 4.0, whatever android available next, and xenon flash.

(the galaxy s have most of them, just short in term of camera and flash..and design.bluetooth 4.0 still not available)

Posted by gauravsali
when will we see a high end walkman phone ora high end phone with excellent sound quality? this year or not?

Posted by io_bg
gauravsali, a high-end walkman is expected to be announced next month. It is expected to run Android and to be touchscreen, it's design will be similar with the Vivaz's and the camera will be 5 MP
