Since the question of Video has been sorted, how about sound?

I have a Pioneer A/V receiver and I would love to run the sound from my Vaio notebook into it. Trouble is that the only sound output on the Vaio is a 3.5mm headphone jack. Several people have told me that you just run a cable from the jack into the RCA inputs on my A/V receiver but I know from my days installing car audio that that doesn't work. The voltages used in amplified headphone output don't match those for Line-in (pre-amp) RCA input and therefore the sound quality is just crap.
As was the case when I ran a genuine cable from my V630i to a home stereo system.
As was the case when I connected my MBS-200 to my A/V receiver.
As was the case when I connected my Vaio to my A/V receiver.
And still people tell me this is what everybody does with their PC's.

This Vaio doesn't have a PCMCIA slot so no card to attach. Is there something that works via USB?
What can you guys recommend?

(I don't understand why Notebooks don't have RCA sockets on the back like everything else...)

I run my mac to a pre amp and then to my amp.. seems to do the trick.

My Laptop has optical out in the same socket as headphones. This will plug straight into a high-end AV receiver and give up to 7 channels of sound!

I always found the old earphones socket to hi-fi works fine even at high volumes. Just put volume on full on the laptop and the music application.
