Have any of you here either met anyone famous or met their idol? If so who where and what happened? There is always that thing in your head when you meet someone famous you get tongue tied. I am yet to meet my idol Bono But here is who i have so far. David Attenborough, Katherine Jenkins(gorgeous), Pop band Erasure. Now the list goes on and i cant remember all but i have met many famous people because of the big 4 star hotel i work in. They range from Sugarbabes, Lenny Henry, Edwina Currie(she was a regular guest) Tamzin Outhwaite, Darius(who), Tony Hadley, Monica Lewinski(man she was big), Ali Campbell, Silvio Bellosconi, BB King & his big band(they tipped us big money), Noddy Holder, Bobby Robson(though i just seen him when he checked in the hotel never actually shook his hand). Not lying these people i seen where i work over a long period through many years. My encounter with BB King was funny and red faced. When he arrived i was asked to take something to his room. But when i went up it said DO NOT DISTURB. What do i do if its important. So i knocked the door. He then came down afterwards and put his hand on my shoulder and said WHAT DOES IT MEAN WHEN IT SAYS DO NOT DISTURB ON THE DOOR. I told him and he laughed and said here you go and he gave me an electric guitar badge as a gift. He said dont worry. I still have it now he is a dude BB King plus he sang with U2.

the ones that come immediately to mind

kissed Sheena Easton (as a dare) at a record signing at the MK virgin store in her early days
Geof Capes and other well known 80's athletes at various athletics events
I ran against Steve Ovett at a club road race in Wimbledon
David Seaman in the 1st class lounge a couple of times at Gatwick North Terminal
Paul Hogan at Darling Harbour
Elle Mcpherson at a lingerie launch in a department store in Melbourne. The Mrs chatted with her while I stood next to her oggling with wide eyes!
Sat immediately behind Cilff Richard at a Sydney showing of Starlight Express and spoke briefly

I'm sure there's a few more

Kissed Sheena Easton for a dare bloody hell lol. I wished i got to kiss Katherine Jenkins when i seen her I remember Geof Capes back in the day i always used to watch him. I am sure there are a few more i met at the hotel where i work i just forget. These days we dont get as many famous people. Oh has anyone heard of Pat Cowdell? He promotes young boxers he used to arrange big boxing events at our hotel like a boxing ring set up in the big function suite with dinner tables set around it. I was invited to one once but never went.

Good thing you didn't have to deal to Henry Cooper or Frank Bruno... I always like Bruno better than Lennox Lewis personally.

I've met and spoken with several NZ Politicians such as David Parker, Maurice Williamson, Pansy Wong, Michelle Lee, current Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Murray McCully and former Leader of the Opposition Don Brash (whom I shook hands with). I doubt anyone outside of NZ will know those names. I've also met several NZ TV personalities and once I delivered a courier parcel to a NZ celeb called Janet Wilson who used to host a popular consumers rights show here in NZ called Target. I was in a hurry and didn't recognise her, when I asked her name for my delivery record she smiled, and said "Janet". Then the penny dropped and I felt like such a dick. She closed the door with my jaw still on the floor...

Forgot to mention I've also met Tiff Needell. He actually came over and sat with us in our / at the 2007 British Touring Car Championship
at Donnington Park. Spent nearly 2 hours with us. Also while there. Due to being invited by the SEAT racing team. I got to meet Jason Plato who was driving for them at the time.

Oh on my list i missed out one. I met and shook hands with Jason Bradbury from channel 5's The Gadget Show. Its studios is in Birmingham in a place called Digbeth. Anyway he stayed at our hotel and i caught him in reception as i recognised him. Shook his hand but he had his cap on quite low down over his face because he hates being stopped if someone recognises him.
