I've forgotten how to set up the keyboard to automatically be in 12 button mode on portrait, but QWERTY on landscape. I've checked through the keyboard settings but the way to change it eludes me!

@Skibbe use software unlock methods.. They are fast and reliable. Dont need to wait for codes getting generated.

Yeah, I like the way it flicks between feeds in horizontal mode and it's lightening fast too.

@ Goldenface... What do u mean it flicks between feeds in horizontal mode? Does it auto-rotate too? My timescape is displayed always in vertical screen...

And yeah - the most noticeable improvement in 2.3.3 is that timescape is now awesome. ..super fast.. and i'm absolutely loving it.

had to ask 2 things:

1) considering ordering the 3600 mah mugen power battery for the X10... anybody has personal experience with this?

2) I dont understand Facebook inside xperia - it doesn't give me any Facebook notifications on my lock screen as mentioned in the xperia arc examples - and neither do the Facebook statuses show up under my contact names as before in 2.1...

I love the update but the timescape widget is too big!

Hi everyone,
I recently updated my phone to the newest android version and everything was great. Only after I updated my youtube, it's widget I had on my homescreen dissapeared but my phone still acts as if it was there and won't let me put any other widget on that spot. Did anyone experiemce this problem also and found a way to fix it. I haven't tried reseting my phone yet as I don't want to customise everything again from the beggining:(

we can't root right? we need to flash the rooted ROM?

Ugh that's a fail. I would advise fix by PC Companion. It may be fixed the other way around, but it may cause future random errors. But wait, try this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1194540 It's a new launcher for ARC, PLAY etc. Just install and see if it helps. It's a nice launcher btw, You can uninstall apps directly from app drawer, pretty nice little future.

Actually we can. It's a bit complicated, but it works, and doesn't wipe ur data. I did that on my stock ROM and is working fine. Here for instructions -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1196421

This happened to me not so long ago on my Arc. The way I got round this was to go into settings> applications> manage applications>all> and scroll down where it says "sony Ericsson home" with the icon of a house. Tap on (clear data). This will remove everything on all of your homescreens and take it back to the way your homescreen was when you first had your X10. You can then just go about adding your apps and widgets onto your homescreens. You will be able to put whatever you want where your youtube widget was, as that problem should be no more. This worked for me.

Good luck with it.

Good luck with it.

Just updated to 2.3, I experienced music shuttering and lag in home launcher. Is there any fix for this? Do I have to root the phone?? Thanks for help !!!

FINALLY!! I have the official update! Though it didn't come through PC Companion. Had to download and flash it myself but at least it is the official 2.3.3 US generic for x10a

@goldenface what did you mean by flicking the timescape widget to switch between your streams?

I am somewhat tempted to try the WB GingerBread ROM.. to anyone who's tried both the official and WB's version.. any comments? Is it worth switching as far as speed and display are concerned? I'm not too worried about rooting and what comes with that. I'm curious if the speed and display is better since WB's ROM has Bravia Engine and uncapped FPS

UPDATE: I went ahead and installed wolfbreak's gingerbread ROM and i LOVE it. it is definitely noticeably faster than the official ROM. To anybody using GB (official or custom), can you install the CAR HOME app on the market? for some reason it shows "incompatible" for me :/

Do any of you have the new updated android market on your 2.3 phones?

Still not getting it in India.

Posted by mode
I have it. UI looks pretty cool, but lags a tad bit.

Posted by Rookwise
No new market here either

Posted by Ricky D
New market is quite nice. The way it is displayed varies with different region's sim though. I noticed with my UK SIM card it looks slightly different to when I have my Chinese sim inserted. I guess this is due to the availability of certain types of content in different regions. To be honest I'm not happy with the way the new market and apps are done, it seems if I purchase an app with my UK sim card in, and that app isn't available in the Chinese region, when I change my sim back to the chinese one that app no longer works. I used to use Market Enabler to get around this and be able to access everything but that doesn't work with the new system. As it is, I can't use about £20 worth of apps that I've legitimately paid for.

I am looking forward to the new market being made available in all regions.... The existing market kind of looks bland now after having seen
the UI of the new market.

Im loving Gingerbread on my X10, Moogoo im glad you finaly got it!

Had a little issue with fast battery drain late last week though, only to find that the Sony Ericsson Sync was constantly syncing my Bookmarks despite the fact that i set it to sync once a day, so turned it off completely, now its back to normal.

Thanks! I'm glad to have it too. I'm on WolfBreak's 4.0.4 stock ROM and love the speed and responsiveness. There are some issues though with force closing in some apps but otherwise it works great. I don't have enough posts on XDA to post in the thread to ask about it though!

does the Wolfbreak's 4.0.4 has xrecovery pre installed?
how much quadrant the rom scores?
i have downloaded it but did not tried it yet.
i was on Zcm7 V003 for 2 weeks, the rom was supper fast, but after i have installed all the needed applications it began so lagy that i have returned to stock SE2.3.3
and after uninstalling all the SE garbage applications the rom is now quite fast (of course using launcherpro).

Posted by moogoo
yes xrecovery is pre-installed..

i don't know the quadrant scores as I haven't tinkered with it.

I've installed a bunch of apps and only notice slight lag when doing a lot of things. I am experiencing some force closes on apps that shouldn't! (i.e., gallery). Also having issues with music apps as well. But alas, can't post anything on XDA

I may go back to stock SE 2.3.3 and root it to get rid of the SE garbage apps.

It's nice to be able to tweak things though.

why you have to root it?
did you backed up SE 2.3.3 using xrecovery before flashing the custom rom?
if yes, just restore it and have fun.
this is the way i use to switch between different roms.

Posted by moogoo
oh! you're right. totally forgot i did the xrecovery backup I will do that if these force closes continue to act up. Thanks for the reminder!

I'm dropping the plans of buying iPhone 5. Arc S is mind blowing. I am hoping with 1.4GHZ processor and 512MB RAM will speed up the UI.

The plus point of having Sony Ericsson is the camera. It's incomparable with other companies. Also the custom UI is far more better than any other smartphones. All in all, it looks a powerful phone. Just missing the front facing camera which is fine with me.

I'm also hoping Arc S will get ice cream sandwich update.

Can somebody list or point me to a link that lists the SE apps and services that are safe to uninstall?

Thanks,
emzee.

I'll miss my X10.

Having only android 1.6 may be because of google, true. perhaps google and moto have an exclusivity agreement that allows moto to release the first devices with android 2.0.

Its so nice not having to mess around with PDANet and EasyTether anymore.

I have a rather strange problem.

For some reason, the musicplayer decided that it wouldn't show album art for most of my purchased aac-files from iTunes, and some other ones. The weirdest thing is that there doesn't seem to be any pattern in which songs it won't show album art from.

I tried deleting all my music and adding some again, taking the memory card in and out etc.

Am I the only one with this problem?

I find it to be so strange because they all showed a few days ago.
Oh, and they all show in PowerAmp.

@roanmy you're not the only one with album art trouble. Mine shows one picture for about half a dozen albums and nothing for others. Not sure what the issue is, but not bothered either to be honest, I don't look at the album covers, I put a playlist on then listen.

Posted by mode
Try album art grabber from the market, the simplest and surest way to get your album art attached. It truly is a must have for those who need their album art iTag will make sure your album art stays with your music no matter which device you play it on, but not as simple if you need to attach your whole library

Is there a custom android update to 2.3? Since my phone's usb pin is damaged, I can't update it via usb, so I'm wonder if I'm able to via microSD, a customized version or an original one...

Posted by Ricky D
@Big_D you may have to wait for a OTA solution...

Hmm, the new Market looks tasty.
