Works in angrybirds (and works on all third party apps that I have so far) and no, no lag at all as far as I've noticed. Which video was it?

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Yep, ive never experienced lag in Angry Birds, and dual-touch works just fine in all apps.

Posted by Miss UK
Angry birds works well on the X10...

Ive got all 3 versions of the game including the latest Rio

be nice if the update came out sooner then waiting for it till end of the year lol

Posted by Shino03
I'm very glad to hear that! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkwDRMU_Q7o
I can't remember if this is the video that I had watched but anyway, it looks laggy to me.

Angry Birds lags during the ad update.

Turn of data then

Posted by SKIBBE
I run the No-ad app/fix (only for rooted phones) works well but most programs dont let you have bigger screen, it's just not showing ads...

When playing Angry Birds to avoid ads I just put phone into flight mode

has anyone replaced the touch module (aka digitizer) on their x10? If so, what kind of adhesive did you use to attach the new one? Any tips? warnings?

I will be following the tutorial on the XDA website to disassemble my X10. I'm assuming there's no easier way to take off the touch module without disassembling the entire phone first and using a blowdryer to soften the glue to pry off the old digitizer.

I am replacing mine because i cracked mine months ago and have just been too busy to sit down and do it. I'm also a little worried I will brick my phone too! hah.. (could give me an excuse to get an arc though )

Anyway.. if anyone's got any tips, warnings, info.. thanks in advance.

hello newbie here been using xperia for quite sometime already but i dont know anything about instillation or upgrading the unit.i had operamini downloaded to my pc and connected it with the xperia 10,unfortunately everytime i look on the phone the file that i have transfered dont exist..could anyone please help how to run an application...thank you

Posted by Lightspeed_x
@Dukie, try opera full via android market, or dolphin browser, both are quite nice.

What is the extension of the file you are uploading to the phone?

It should be .APK to be able to install in Android.

Good luck!

I'm really impressed with Sony Ericsson right now. The x10 is my first Sony device, and immediately I didn't like it at first. It was painfully slow and had bad battery life. Then I discovered this wonderful forum, read through, managed to root the device and uninstall moxier and face regonition. Removing face recognition is the single biggest improvement you can do to the X10 as it was constantly using over 20 percent cpu all the time!. I now love it, its fast, battery life is quite good now. Struggle sometimes due to low amount of ram, but advanced task killer widget quickly makes the phone fast again
But then Sony said they weren't upgrading past Android 2.1 and I hated Sony. I swore never to buy a Sony phone again because alternative phones that were avilable as as upgrade to me when I brought the x10 all got upgraded to 2.2 or some now 2.3. The samsung galaxy s 2 was going to be my next phone, but whilst I like technology and high end features, design I rank above functionality, vain I guess! The Arc is the most beautiful phone I've ever laid eyes on and I gotta have one, now Sony looks like they've changed their ways. Any one wanna buy an X10, unbranded, unlocked, mint condition ?

Posted by Ricky D
@danman7_200 hah, I'm trying to get rid of my X10 too. I love it but could do with a couple extra pounds towards my arc purchase. I'm actually tempted to not sell it at all. I wouldn't be disappointed if no one met my valuation.

Did you try any of the custom ROMs over on xda? After trying those I'm certain the X10 is still an absolute killer of a phone. I'd stay with my X10 if arc wasn't like sex.

Posted by OffLineR
@danman7_200
Sony Ericsson is going to release an Andorid 2.3 update for X10.
It is not quite soon but it is going to be updated and design wise it rocks all the phones in the market IMO

Looks nice, i am still running wolfbreaks v053 rom, got my battery issus sorted to with a few reinstalls of the original SE fw

Posted by roanmy
Ok, I've had it with the newest update. I think I've used dual touch ONCE when trying it out in google maps, and as I don't speak any Arab language, nor Thai, there's really no use for me.

So, seeing as it kills my battery AND made the Phone exruciatingly slow;

Is there any way to back one update? I'm on generic Nordic btw.

Recently, I read that Xperia x10 is going to get the new Android Gingerbread Update. while I'm sort of happy with hearing that, but I'm also disappointed in the we losing, something about removing face recognition, timscape and mediascape. I wonder if the Gingerbread update will make x10 looks like just any other Android phone out there. I wonder if it will still retain that SE look, the screens, buttons, icons, and overall interactive. I recently installed Arc Launcher and loved it. looks so much cleaner and nicer than the old launcher for the Xperia x10. I'm guessing Arc and Neo, with it's gingerbread android version, still retains the SE look? Hopefully I can do the same for my x10.

Another thing, with supposedly the x10 Bootloader is finally cracked, what can I do with it. I'm seriously ignorant about this. explain to me what is the benefit and compare that to the Gingerbread update.

Posted by Ricky D
@Big_D the gingerbread update will be basically a port of what you see on arc. It will definitely retain the SE look and feel. You can timescape also will be there but it's it's new iteration (see arc) and the media functions will be implemented the same way as in arc, which is better if you ask me.

When they say you'll lose face recognition I think they mane the face recognition that is integrated into mediascape (which is getting removed) for 'auto-tagging' of your photos with known friend's faces, rather than the focusing on faces in the camera (I may be wrong). This isn't a bad thing, as every knows the face recognition software slows the phone down terribly and few people use it.

Overall I don't think there's any bad news in the 2.3 update coming to the X10, it's fantastic news.

With the bootloader being by-passed there will be more custom ROMs with FULL functionality, and lifting of the some the SE enforced limitations, such as the 30FPS cap and the lack of 16million colours. You need to find a dev who's doing that sort of stuff and download their ROMs to take advantage of it. In the future, if someone can be bothered to write it, we might see tools that will customise these functions in a simple GUI but don't count on it. Compared to the official gingerbread update that depends on what SE include, they may find that with the optimisation and generally faster OS they can free up CPU to deal with the 16m colours and higher frame-rates and thereby lift those in the official update ...or they may not.

@roanmy you can go back to an older FW version if you go to xda (I'll dig out links later, I'm in a hurry to go out now) and root your device and manually flash it. SE don't provide a way to downgrade.

Posted by Hobbs
Come on XDA devs.I want a full functioning Gingerbread ROM for my X10.I'm not to keen on putting a SE Gingerbread ROM on my phone just because of the speed you get from a clean basic custom ROM (not that I'm not going to give it a test ride). I don't care about if it just looks like another Android phone out there. With the ability to theme, change fonts, customise with different launchers, your phone can look pretty unique with a bit of creativity.Waiting......waiting......waiting.......Thought we'd see fireworks after bypassing that damn bootloader but there seems to be a lot of testing that needs to be done. This phone still has some mileage in it if I say so myself. No need to upgrade.

I picked up an X10 last week at Best Buy for free with a 2 year contract. I wanted a black one but they only had white left (about 5). Ordered a black housing for it already. Flashed it up to 2.1 and I'm loving it so far. I'm planning on ditching my iPhone 4 as I'm finding myself liking Android much better than iOS. The X10 is actually a great phone. I'm not sure why it got such a bad reputation. Must be the Android 1.6 that it had originally?

Of course it's the aged 1.6 + SE bloatware that tarnished the name of such an awesome device

What exactly you like about X10 over iPhone?

So far, I've found quite a few things I like about it over the iPhone:

- Uses a standard micro usb port for charging & data.
- User removable battery.
- Micro SD slot.
- 3 hardware navigation buttons + a camera button instead of only one.
- Better notifications.
- Seems snappier in many respects.
- Handles incoming calls properly when connected to the bluetooth handsfree in my car stereo. i.e. Defaults to the handsfree instead of the handset like my iPhone 4 did (very annoying.).
- Getting reports of much better voice quality from people I'm talking to when I'm using various bluetooth handsfree devices.
- Much more open - not chained to iTunes, easy to flash, custom roms, etc..
- Built-in real-time stock application - Finance.
- Better integration with Gmail, Picasa, and Facebook.
- Better camera and flash.
- Built-in GPS turn by turn navigation application.
- Detailed battery usage info.
- Comes in both white and black.

What else am I missing?

Custom ROMs bring out this phone's awesomeness! , having run Froyo custom ROMs for thn past two months and having settled on Wolfbreak's Cyanogen MOD based ROMs it amazes how fast this phone is even next to the iPhone4, its just incredible, yet its so smooth, and fluid, cant wait for Gingerbread, its going to be EPIC!

Anybody interested in buying a white X10 from me?

For £120 I'll post it anywhere in the world.
Phone is in good condition (I'll send some photos out)
Original wired headset and I'll apply a fresh Martin Fields screen shield
Includes charger+USB cable, original wired headset that came with the phone (unopened)
Unfortunately my gf threw the box away, but I'll package everything nicely when I send it out

My silver arc should be here by the weekend.

Hey Big_D (or anyone else who reads this and knows the answer), I also installed the Arc Launcher after reading your post and I also prefer it. Much better design being able to access your favourite folders from the bottom task bar, no matter what screen you're on.

I have no idea where to find the Music Player program to add to my Media folder. I already have Mediascape in there, but would like to add dedicated shortcuts to Photos, Music and Video. Where would I find them?

Thanks in advance!

Posted by Ricky D
@Harribolman The X10 doesn't have standalone apps for music/photos/videos so you won't find shorcuts to add in directly. On the ARC the apps for music/video/photos are standalone so it works for them. If you want standalone apps there are ways to get the stock android music/photo/video apps on the X10. In my opinion, the stock apps are faster and prettier too.

@Hobbs
Thanks, I am super excited. I'm refreshing my fed-ex tracking page more often than I refresh this page! It's currently been in a fed-ex truck for 2 hours..

@mode Thanks, my gf seems to be particularly good at throwing stuff out. I caught her trying to take my favourite jeans the other week!

Posted by Rookwise
You can use tbe x10 flashtool to put stock android gallery 3d on the phone. Comes bundled in with the flashtool along with a modded htc keyboard which you can choose to install.
For music just download Poweramp. You wont find anything better imo.

Other options are to search the Andeoid maeket for Gallery Shortcut and download that.

Posted by Lightspeed_x
A nice and simple gallery is QuickPic, try it out... its also quite fast...

even the speed of UI is better in X10? wow that's a surprise to me but always wanted to understand better why apple users liked X10.
Enjoy your X10 and with 2.3 update am sure there is a lot more to it now

Thanks for your reply!
