Can anybody send me a link or a how to video on rooting the x10?

Posted by Ricky D
Before you do this remember to read the posts in that thread (at least the first post and the last couple pages) and backup for stuff before you do anything you're unsure of. If you're still uncertain ask.

To Root:

This should do you.

I should get the box, charger, cable...

You should get a set of standard headphones and either a 2gb or 8gb Micro SD memory card in the box. Also depending on the region you might get some or all of the following items included in the box:-

CCR-80 Micro SD USB adaptor
Spare Screen Protector
Bluetooth Headset
Xperia Branded Pouch
EC500 Media Stand

In my Black X10 which was from O2 UK I got an Xperia Branded pouch,Spare screen protector and a CCR-80 but in my White Sim Free French X10 I just got the basics (Phone,battery,8gb SD memory card, wired headphones,EP700 USB cable,CST-80 usb mains charger and the paperwork)

It all depends on where you have the phone from.

I guess, that somebody has taken the rest of the goodies from the box, but tomorrow i will see what we are talking about. It is good that i would have the option to actually ckeck the contents before paying the courier, but if the device has no marks of usege, and it has all of the harware properly working i guess i would buy it. On the pictures it really does look new. I have a spare 2GB card from my previous HD2, so i would only need a headphoes, which i could get for 5-6Eur.

Posted by Rookwise
If the phone is new the memory card will be in the phone already. Dont forget that the memory card contains all the pre installed content (PC Companion, User Guide, Notification sounds etc)
Some of it can be downloaded from the website but some of the items cannot.

Q&A by Rickard Skogberg. http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/products/

Q: Are you working on Android 2.2 or Android 2.3 for the 2010 products.

A: No – as explained earlier we currently don’t plan to upgrade the 2010 products to Android versions beyond 2.1

We knew this but it's still sad, especially as HTC for example has just announced that the original Desire will get Android 2.3: HTC Desire HD, Desire Z, Desire and Incredible S Gingerbread update in Q2

clearly wants us to forget about the 2010 models and concentrate on the 2011 Gingerbread models...

It came what can i say... I just sold my HTC HD2, and after all Sony is Sony, the device feels great, i did not even expect to receive a second screen protector, but i did.

Posted by SKIBBE
how do i unlock my x10i cheapest/easiest? (need to do that if i am about to sell it)

Posted by moogoo
installed the arc's launcher. i like being able to sort apps the way i want in the drawer and the small animations are nice. speed seems a little lagged but it could be because of the picture widget. I need to use it more... so far i like it though.

Still waiting on the latest update too *sigh*...

Posted by goldenface
Can't you do that when you 'free sort' the apps in the drawer by tapping the bottom right hand button?

Posted by moogoo
yes goldenface, that's exactly the feature that i said I like.

Posted by Ravager
TripNRaVeR at XDA have created a working ROM based on gingerbread with all the Arc stuff working
he says it will be released soon

do the update through your PC and even though it will say "you already have the latest software", you WILL get MT if you just re-install the OS.

Guys, i just ordered one of those TPU cases, what do you think about them:

http://www.modatel.eu/index2.[....]ption=com_virtuemart&Itemid=53

I have a Krusell L Luna Pouch from an old phone of mine, but i think that its leather would scratch the edges of the x10.

Please share you oppinions.

Thanks

Posted by SKIBBE
@dngeorgiev

i have a silicon case (don't use it anymore) bought the original pouch instead

i did't like it becaus it felt so big in my hand, and sometimes the battery got hotter than usual
but it worked well keeping it safe

Does anyone know If I flash 2.2 Rom to my X10 could I be able to reinstall currently installed apps via Titanium Backup?

Posted by Bonovox

Help needed!

I updated the newest firmware with the pinch/zoom. It works, but my Moxier Contact is gone as a result. I re-installed the OS again and Moxier Contact is still gone. I relied on Moxier Contact to sync my MS Exchange contacts to my X10.

Anyone having this problem as well?

Posted by Rookwise
Its normal. Some of the Moxier apps have been removed in the new firmware. Theres only two left I think. Deleted the rest with x10flashtool

Posted by DevilHell
So I am being punished for actually using their Moxier Apps. MS Exchange is not supported naively yet on X10. That's why I am struck with Moxier.

There are Moxier Mail, Task and Calendar left on my phone now.

I got the new Arc home launcher installed, which I find so much better than X10 launcher. I would like to get my hands on the media player widgets and other cool features from the Arc. Does anyone have apk's and will these work on the X10?

From you, it goes without saying doesn't it?

Any more updates expected?

Posted by Tsepz_GP
I doubt it, so i flashed my X10 to Android2.2.1 Froyo, Cyanogen MOD 6.1.3, and couldn't be happier especialy now that the Camera/Camcoder have been sorted, the X10 brilliantly, amazing how much power this thing has when not being bogged down by SE's software, its actualy quite scary to see how fast it is, makes you realise how much potential this thing has.

Posted by SKIBBE
@Tsepz_GP

I have been running 2.2 fore a while now, and yeah it's great now the camcorder also works, but the battery issue is a pain in the ass,(max 15h for me) And the games i have bought from gameloft most of them does not work as they are made for 2.1. And the SE camera APK is far superior to the stock android IMO. I do miss it, althou it was kinda slow.

Let's hope the 2.3 rom is better when the camera issue is sorted, but i guess i have the ARC by then and will never look back on my x10

+1 on getting an arc, which reminds me I've got to sell my X10.

Posted by dibdin
I have never owned an Xperia before but am looking forward to being the proud owner of The Arc.

Posted by Ravager
I've been using the arc rom on my x10 today, i'm getting tempted to buy an Arc, it's really nice going back to the stock rom though, need the camera...

Posted by Ricky D
Personally I'm not keen on arc's launcher or lockscreen, in the launcher the bottom bar is way too big and takes up loads of space and the lockscreen compared to what I use now is like an original TRON compared to the Matrix. I'd probably put ADW in there and widgets locker.

What I really want ARC for is that camera speed Taking photos as fast as you can press the button is a massive plus in my eyes.

Posted by SKIBBE
Yeah using the ARC launcher now, it works great but, it lacks style... guess i will intstall ADW.launcher EX to give it more eyecandy (since i already bought it for my x10)

Posted by Hobbs
Wow Skibbe and Ricky D.You both seem to be itching
to get your hands on that Arc.Hope it lives up to your expectations.
Me,I aint touching SE again until they learn some
manners.
Just cancelled an upgrade that was due because
this phone running FreeX10 Beta 4 is good enough for
me.I did run the SE 2.1 latest update last week
but that lasted less than 24 hours and I got rid of it.
This Rom flies and I dont have battery issues. Also
Im quite pleased with the camera/camcorder.
Its quick.Click camera button and bam you ready
to start snapping.
Speed. For me that is all its about.

Posted by SKIBBE
@Hobbs

yeah, the arc do seems great. and i know there are some better ones out there, tegra chips/dual core phones. but i am somewhat a fan boi of SE but the money is a real issue for me, depends on my next paycheck. if i don't can afford it by the launchdate i don't think i will buy it later.

Posted by dibdin
My last phone was the C905, and like i said in a earlier post i am looking forward to be reunited with SE. I am hoping the Arc will not disappoint, and i have a good feeling it's going be a big success.

Posted by Ricky D
My decision on buying it hangs on the feel of the quality of the silver and blue. If it isn't 99% sexy I'll leave it and wait till Christmas or whenever whatever big phone from SE is coming next.
