Supporting the 2.0 is a great news. Glad the droid won't be the only one.

Posted by domipost
Well, it might be 2.1 in stead of 2.0 (so that would be exclusive to Droid than), but that's even better

Let's now hope the Google Maps Navigation, allows you to download maps over certain areas.
I don't care if it takes 50Mb or 2GB really, Having that functionality to Nokia Maps, was really the best part of that programme.

I'm not questioning that they said so.
I'm just questioning why they didn't announce earlier, from a marketing perspective.

SE has hit their dates for the past few releases for phones this year, i dont doubt itll be ready, before MWC.

Posted by XPHCTOC
have you seen this??? ==> it's an extract from "Sony Ericsson WebSDK – Getting Started Guide" document

Posted by domipost
@jjjajjj

Probably they just realised it is not that clever to say an exact date

Posted by OffLineR
I want that phone right now.

Didn't I tell you it is going to have Android 2.0 update and 16m colors

Posted by tranced
@offliner: do you have an insider?

Posted by McKinley
I guess Sony Ericsson just realised it wasn't that bright to not give the X10 an official support for Android 2.0
Right now, Acer Liquid is the only phone with Android 1.6 and that's the only phone you will see this year with it.
For next year the X10 is the only one that has officially been announced to come with Android 1.6. Samsung and HTC haven't got any new phone announched to use 1.6.

Tattoo has 1.6 too, and Hero through updates

Posted by OffLineR
@tranced
I wish I did.
But that was so obvious. is not stupid enough to make such a big mistake like releasing a new phone, new UI, new way of communication without providing constant updates.

You'll see that, timescape and mediascape will be available not just for high-end mobile phones. We'll see them on walkman and cybershot series as well. (or equivalent of them) Not as fancy as on X10 of course.

Sony is going to integrate Facebook on Playstation 3. We might see mediascape and timescape on PSP and PS3 as well. That would be an incredible integration.

I'm exited about that. As a former software developer I might even try to learn java to have some fun on X10

The HTC Hero will be skipping the Donut (1.6) update and going straight to Éclair (2.0).

+1

I wonder... where are now all the voices who said android 1.6 won't be old in 2010......
[ This Message was edited by: sealover94 on 2009-11-18 17:30 ]

Posted by tranced
@sealover: 1.6 what?

Posted by McKinley
I forgot about Tattoo but that makes it the second one for this year.
Sealover, no need to provoke but it isn't exactly old even in the first quarter of 2010. Just that most manufactures will skip it and that makes Donut obsolete and redundant when Android 2.0 exists.

Sorry, you're right. My bad!

Posted by XPHCTOC
Don't forget that Acer Liquid will hit the shelves this month with 1.6... not 2.0
And that's the same story with geeksphone one (1.6 in december)

The news about the upgrade to 2.0 is great! I have a feeling this phone will be successful for SE. And it's commint right after Satio and X2.

When will Opera release Opera Mobile for Android?

Can't wait so in february I'll sell my tomtom and for my birthday i'll get me a white X10

Have you noticed that the proximity or light sensor on the left top of the white x10 is black and visible on older pics and hidden on newer ones?

Don't worry, this is very standard for our region, doing a quick lookup the price is slightly less than the current HTC HD2 price(which just launched), and the HTC Hero launch price.

I assume the price listed without contract, and i don't know about Sweden, but contracts in Denmark cannot exceed 6 months, so usually the contract is pretty expensive monthly, or it doesn't give much of a rebate in terms of the price of the hardware.

So for an expected contract-less retail MSRP expect similar to HTC HD2/HTC Hero.

It is indeed. 699€ recommended retail price transfer to 1042$ in my Google.
(btw. market price will be around 500€, which are about 745$.

A direct Euro (or Kronor) to $ conversion doesn't really apply in most cases. I think it'll be closer to 700 stateside when it goes on in Feb.

It also appears that the HTC HD2 is closer to 7000 SEK, than 6000 as i originally said.

Now the Americans know how I feel every time I have to buy a Dell computer.
My Dell computer costs ~2500 USD in the states while it costs me ~25000 SEK which is about 3717 USD.
Outrageously overpriced in Sweden.

unless they tie it up with carriers, the price will definitely be "out of this earth"!
i mean, what do you expect? snapdragon, and 4 inches screen, and the bells and whistles!!

would it be possible to switch between SE and the original Android 1.6 UI?

You can just decide not to use timescape and mediascape, which leaves you with a pretty standard Android UI.

Hi Guys

What kind of accessories do you think will be available for the X10?

the first thing i will buy are at least screen protector, and maybe some kind of protection around the phone to protect my "precious"

Posted by anonymuser
Since it's capacative, does the X10 have a glass screen or plastic? If it's glass I wouldn't bother with a screen protector, remember you won't be scrawling on this with a stylus (just your finger) so it's unlikely you'll damage it, and the protector will just get in the way.

If it's plastic, bad choice SE.

Nice try boinng.

The Capasitive LCD have mineral glass cover.
So no need for protection imo.

When I look at these UI pics,

I think it's a nice UI and nice work done indeed,

but for me personally it's boring especially with this bue
and all is so "airy", would make me bored...

I must say SE made a great work on X2's UI,

absolutely the best what they've done in this respect..
Much better than X10.

X10 looks mainly as a lifestyle/media device...

and another one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prndR7XRClI

EDIT:
I totally agree with u doministry, this UI will be gud for all facebook n twitter users, but for me sms and email will do it as well, since I don't use these services. I hope some modders will find a way to put Sense Ui on X10. this would be the ultimate phone for me
