Has anyone tried this keyboard........t9
It is used when adding contacts. Is there a way to use it as a default keyboard ?

I'm glad you mention the T9 keyboard. I was using it as an option to the QWERTY keyboard. To select it, all I had to do was flcik the QWERTY board to the side and the T9 keyboard would appear. My problem is, I've somehow turned off the T9 keyboard and am unable to find it. I've asked several times, but no one has been able to help!

Earpice has improved after 2.1 update. I hardly complain about it but I have couple of disappointments:

Really? I'd hate to know how quiet it was prior to 2.1. I've only used my phone with 2.1 on it, and it's disappointing that I can only hear the caller if it's a relatively quiet environment. Fine at home, but forget it at work where it's noisy. And I'd imagine busy streets and shops would be a problem too. I've used all my other phones at work without needing to find a quiet area to be able to hear the caller!

@Ofiaich no probs, just glad you got there eventually

@rikken & Haribolman
Go to:

Settings > Language & Keyboard > Chinese keyboard settings

Then either:
turn on Swipe to switch layout
OR
under Portrait keyboard (and Landscape keyboard if you wish) select 12-Key PhonePad

exit the menu

long press a text box and change Input method to Chinese keyboard

Is that what you mean?

Ricky, thanks very much for your detailed explanation.

However, I'm still having problems. I'm easily able to select the "switch layout" option in the Chinese keyboard, and I can also select the "12 key phonepad", however when testing the keyboard in messaging, I am still unable to select the T9 keyboard by swiping. In fact, the keyboard does not appear at all!

Also, why is it selected in the Chinese keyboard options? Seems strange that it's not an option for the default keyboard.

Posted by Ricky D
@Haribolman This setting is for the Chinese keyboard and will only be usable when you have the Chinese keyboard selected as your input method. It's what I use and of the pre-installed keyboards that's the only one that will give you a swipe to change layout option.

I believe the Chinese keyboard apk was put together by a third-party company hence why it's features aren't the same as other keyboards. I use the Chinese keyboard as my primary as I like the slide up for CAPS and slide down for special characters/punctuation on the qwerty layout. It still has an English T9 dictionary and if you don't press the extra small key you'd never know it was Chinese.

If anyone knows any different I'm happy to be corrected but this is how I perceive the situation.

Hi all, just wondering if anyone knew when dlna would arrive on our x10s? I thought they promised this a while ago...

Posted by Arne Anka
I believe DLNA will come at same time as MT, an update which should not be far away according the SE blog.

The first two days I was a bit concerned with battery drain but now it has settled and Im getting good usage. No different than usual and maybe now even a little better.
Im loving this ROM even without camcorder functionality. How are you finding it?
Mines smooth and fast without any problems to speak of.
Its a new phone. My previous phone was the iPhone and now it has that UI quality it lacked.

Can you record sound? - I cant
I use ADW.Launcher EX - so the UI is almost like before (i do miss the SE phonebook/caller ID)
Camera interface is not good (faster but less options?)
When using the LED as Flash(light) it's half the brightness compared to the SE-rom, making it useless imo
Been having problems with BT dropping sound when i stream music in spotify(sound drops 0.5 sec every 2-3 minute) if i for example is watching somthing in youtube and get a text, the BT drops fully (when i navigate to handcent and back to youtube) and i need to turn on/off my headset to get the connection back - more than anoying.
Market - I don't seem to get the update for the new market, still using the old one

Ricky, thank you very much for solving this issue. It's now working for me again. Last night it wouldn't work, today it does! Strange, but I'm happy to be able to access it again!

I know the Sound Recorder on the ROM doesnt work.Havent tried a third party app from Market.I personally never use it so doesnt worry me.
Camera is faster with less options.Just the fact that its ready to go after choosing camera makes me a fan. Then again Im just grateful it works.lol

Hehe i do use the camera alot, tried to install the "hacked" SE camera.apk, no luck (i have no idea how to get it to work in froyo) was worth a try non the less.
maybe vingette is a sulotion if it works.
waiting for a theme update too, can't see the clock in the statusbar in my custom theme.

I love ADW Launcher and the Drawer Columns Portrait/Landscape settings.I set it to 6 for Portrait and 8 for Landscape.Looks quite cool.

Posted by SKIBBE
@Hobbs yeah it's nice, but i use force portrait mode only, dont like landscape more than when i write texts you have a few screens back in the thread of my theme if you have missed.

Posted by SKIBBE
Hobbs i get only ~1300 (fresh boot) when i have all widgets/themes/launcher installed. but way better than with 2.1

@tranced

that program always have thous other phones as comparing even the x10i. the device is that slow without JIT and 2.2+
i had ~450 default and with JIT enabled i got ~600 and then JIT v2 ~800 and updating to 2.2 launched me up to almost 1500 as with Hobbs

If theres one thing Im doing since installing this ROM is to keep things simple when it comes to what I install on this phone.Keeping all the junk off and just installing stuff I need. One of everything and not two or three things that all do the same thing.Different cameras,Photo editors, different browsers social networking apps ect Sometimes you can get seriously carried away.

Posted by SKIBBE
Hobbs, i tend to keep it clean too, but now i have got my "desktop" to look really nice,
3 screens running widgetsoid, tajm/mClock, textwidget/some widget that counts 3g usage (just for fun)
looks really nice but they use some battery/ram but the feel of it makes it okey

Just installed the X.FX10 theme that I saw in your sig.Very nice with the Bauhaus.ttf also installed with Typefresh.
Just curious, what do you do if you want to uninstall the theme back to the original on this ROM,or if you want install another theme.
Can you just install a new one with xRecovery and it will change your previous one.
Love the X bootup animation.Very cool.

Update rooling out. . . . . . Update Anybody got it ?

Posted by OffLineR
I got the notification in the morning but now it says I have the latest FW.

http://blogs.sonyericsson.com[....]-the-xperia-x10-and-x8-family/

Now we have started the roll-out of the next update to the 2010 family of Xperia products.

This update can be done either using PC-companion or (for most markets) also over the air directly from your phone.

It brings optimizations and bugfixes along with some language additions and Pinch Zoom touch for X10.

The two highlighted additions in this update are:

* Addition of some bi-directional languages (Arabic, Farsi, Thai and Hebrew) – All products.
* Pinch/zoom touch for mobile Internet and Google Maps. – Only Xperia X10.

An overview of what to expect from the Pinch Zoom support for Xperia X10 was described in this post back in November.

Besides the highlights above I have been trying out the X10 with this update for a while and seen some other nice improvements, some of these can be market and operator dependant though:

* Moxier in an updated version (2.7.13) that includes a great overview widget for e-mail, calendar and tasks.
* Moxier e-mail shown in Timescape.
* Possibilities of trimming videos in the phone.
* Videos are transcoded to fit into MMS-messages even if they were recorded in high quality.
* Minor changes to Mediascape with access to “Now Playing” in the top right corner.

For the mini products and the Xperia X8 we also have enabled the ANT+ support in the chipset. ANT+ is a standard for short-range communication with things like heart rate monitors etc. More info around it can be found at www.thisisant.com or in the blog post my colleagues made at CES here.

The roll-out should start from now for the X10 and within a week or so for the other products but just as last time it will be a gradual roll-out where each and every kit needs different approvals before it can be released.

I’ve seen your comments on that some of you haven’t received the earlier update yet. Sorry but there are still a few kits remaining and I just want to confirm that we are working on it with our partners to get those approved and ready as soon as we can. I am monitoring your specific kit requests among the comments here and try to find out details when I can.

With it rolling out gradually does that mean from now in different regions or what?? How will we know??

Keep your eye in the blog above. Skogberg makes posts when the update is available for various regions (at least he did with the previous update).

Posted by SKIBBE
@hobbs, i have no idea how to uninstall it :S but to change i guess you just can overwrite.

Posted by Indiandawg
How to unroot and get all stock apps back? I have lost the back up from titanium and while I unroot, the stock apps dont appear. I want my x10 so I can send to service center and get the update.

I've only just discovered that if you press the space at the bottom of the home screen on the X10 a small picture representation of all five home screens appears, from which you can choose to go straight to any.

Posted by Bonovox
I noticed that last week I thought I had pressed something wrong & it looked like the screen had gone funny at the bottom Is this update going really work OTA?? I have never had a successful update OTA via the phone with

works with home button to if i remeber correct, running 2.2 now and home-button does the same thing

Posted by Ricky D
The home button at a press does that if you tell it to with ADWlauncher. Also with ADW you can pinch zoom out any homescreen to have an overview of all and choose which to go to directly. Long hold will always show recent open apps. With stock SE 2.1 the holding the dot thing was demoed by Rikard Skogberg on the SE blog months before the first 2.1 update was released.

I prefer to use ADW nowadays for it's customisability. I found a way to open up the stock music app so I'm completely without mediascape now. Stock music and stock gallery are way faster and more user friendly.

Posted by Indiandawg
I used z4root to root it, can I do the same to un root and then do the software repair from pc companion to reinstall the software and get back all the things that were on the phone like timescape and such?

Posted by Ricky D
@Indiandawg you can use SEUS to do a fresh flash of your firmware. This should remove any root or 3rd party apps and restore Timescape/Mediascape etc. Make sure you back up your shiz though i.e. contacts are synced up or backed up, sms/mms are backed up, backup data from 3rd party apps if you don't want to lose your angry birds stars.

Thanks a lot Ricky. Actually I deleted Angry Brids as I finished all the level lol.
BTW ZEUS fresh cash means re update right? So should I wait for new firmware?

Posted by Ricky D
@Indiandawg I thought you wanted to basically reset the original software and get a service centre to upgrade your FW, right? SEUS will do your new firmware if it's released for your CDA/'kit' and if it does you shouldn't need to send it to a service centre.

I'm in two minds about whether or not to update to the new official FW or not. I've ben keeping tabs on a custom 2.3 on xda and may just wait till that's stable enough and optimised. The performance increase should be pretty good to damn awesome.

That's right. Actually more than upgrading I just want to know how to un root and get the stock apps. I am also planning on custom Roms but only when they are stable. Currently my phone has got little slow because of tons of apps and all. I want to wipe out everything and keep what I need. I have already wiped off many applications but I want the X10 to have as many minimal files from now.

So I should upgrade the firmware and that will unroot and get the stock apps, right?

Posted by Ricky D
I don't want to say whether you should wipe or not, that should be your decision but wiping and upgrading the firmware will clear off the rubbish on the phone and should make it feel like new again i.e. unrooted etc. Just remember to backup anything you're likely to want. It never hurts to backup and has so often saved me from sweaty situations.
