Oh wow another update

I'm quite glad that update failed, I just realised what if I can't re-root! I want to see the fallout first. I'll see if I can get the FW number on the new update for you though.

Sony Ericsson (SE) has begun pushing out an Android update this week in Japan that enables multi-touch for the Xperia X10 range, ahead of a scheduled first-quarter roll out in the UK.

@idambakumar- Do 1 thing, remove the battery and charge the phone without it for a minute. Now put the battery and start charging. Works for me.
are u sure??? i dint try that actually.mobile is not in my hand.. its in service center...
did u face the same problem with ur mobile?? i mean the battery never get charged but the charging symbol apprears and animates.???
if so i'll give a try on next week..
thinking caz the service center tried and returned back saying its cannot be fixed due to h/w.. the phone had limited so there should not be any PCB track problem..
btw thanks for the help...

False alarm, same FW just wanted to do it again, I think it's because I did the xda multitouch mod. Just undone the multi-touch stuff i installed before.. oops.

Ricky D I can't afford to lose root so I'm hanging back till I know for sure it can be rooted after updating.

@ Ricky, Ive done what you have said ive let the phone completely die then recharge 3xtimes
but still it's at 98% it also began going down pretty quick tonight too well I did visit market and downloaded a Battery but to see what the percentage was also like on that reading but it was the same as my clock widget reading!
strange ive just removed the indicator of the clock now anyway im hoping it will charge upto 100% though

It charges slower on pc. Also turn it off when charging

I never charge phones on the PC only my iPod gets done on it!
lol and it's always turned of when on Recharge too
I used to think if you completely finished the juice on the phone and wacked it onto charge then it would be alot better for it, but if you wack them onto charge at 15% then it mucks the battery up?
Posted by Ricky D
@Miss UK The battery thing is due to the technology of modern batteries. Basically if a certain part of the battery holds charge for too long the chemicals start to crystallise rendering them useless. So periodically fully draining the battery is a good thing, but you don't have to do it everytime just once every month should be ok after the initial conditioning.
I thought if you did the full cycle a few times in a row it may help lessen this crystal effect which might be the cause of your missing 2% charge. If it's not seeming to work then I'm not sure what your issue is but I cycled my battery fully 6 times when I first got it just make sure it was ok. Maybe I'm a bit of a freak it wasn't necessary.
Are you on the latest FW?
@Hobbs my FW didn't upgrade it just undid the MT I had installed, which thanks to the links to xda on this thread works everywhere it should now I don't need the next upgrade, unless it'll be to 2.2+ or have this new fandangled fast camera interface from arc

What I've heard, Lit-ion batteries should absolutely never be completely drained of it's charge. I could be wrong and reckon it would be nice to see some real facts.
Posted by Bonovox
I am happy for a change cos normally its me with phone problems. But this time my x10 white is perfect. My battery so far charged twice has each time reached 100%

The supplied charger delivers 0.7A while each usb port on a desktop pc gives +5Volts (4.75v-5.25v) & delivers approx 0.5 amperes (500mA) of current to the usb device. Laptops running on battery; only 100mA is allowed to draw from each usb port. Thats why it takes long to complete the charge. Use an external powered usb hub with +5V,2A DC adapter and then charge it. It will be charged in less time.

Sorted Battery issue.
Charged at 14% left
Now got 100% showing.
Posted by buntoo
@Miss UK, glad that you're seeing 100%
But remember that these percentages are not precise. A 100% battery status doesn't mean that it is actually 100%. It is just approximation.
Charging it @ 14% or 50% left doesn't matter. If after complete charge it is still showing 97 or 98%, do one thing. Unplug the charger from the phone (not from the socket) and then plug it again just for a sec and you'll have "100%" I've experienced it on most of my phones.

Lol still talk of 2.2+ on here when se have already said X10 isn't getting it. Se's answer if you want support is buy a new phone.
Not that I do contracts or anything but that's bad that they won't support the consumers that have bought their flagship phone for at least the length of a contract.

That is for enabling the Dual touch in all app's which supports natively like Google Maps and default browser.
Posted by Ricky D
@SKIBBE The build.prop file is in the system directory. You need to open it with Root Explorer. Read the first post in that thread the instructions are quite clear.
Posted by SKIBBE
@Ricky D: okey, i just had that "post" url never thought to check the whole thread will do that
i think everything works now, google maps works and i guess that proves something

Hi everyone!
now trying to update my friends X10,,, RickyD gave me brilliant advice, and I know he is on the other side of the planet!
I have now
1. rooted and installed Titanium and did a backup...
2. so onto SEUS. My PC sees the phone and after many many attempts, I finally got to see the screen with the icons for the different phones. I selected X10
And choose next, and get this screen
but then all sits and waits.
What kind of time frame should I be looking for, for something else to happen?
I can see on the X10 notifications screen --- turn off USB storage but I am sure I just leave that alone.
I really hope to get the X10 sorted and returned tomorrow...
Any advice welcome!! In thread or by PM are both OK..

When you have put the phone i flashmode the screen on your computer will change to another, telling you to release the back button, this will take like 2-3 seconds or less

how can you see drag screen/mount sd card? the PHONE IS TURNED OFF ?
the phone boots the moment you plug in the USB cable, while you hold the back button pressed, then released when you are promted to. then it will download>install and you just grab a cup of tea?

You're from England and English isn't your strong point??
I been thinking of the possibilities of creating a USB-xenon flash accessory, what do you think?

the 1, 2 3 steps are there to make it easy for you, it clearly says you shall turn off your phone, remove the battery and wait for xx seconds and then putt it all back together. hold the back button and plug in the usb. in short. just read the instructions, they explains everything as easy as it can get.
Try again!
Posted by ofiaich
@Ravager - why do you think I am from England? I live in England...
@SKIBBE yes, I have followed those steps and the computer just locks up, after step 3, holding the back button down..
This has happened 4 times now..
rebooted yet again and will try.
If no good, I will try from another PC later.

Try www.sonyericsson.com on the Mac and choose support
Posted by Ravager
Ok, sorry.
There's no PC-companion or SEUS for mac...
only mediasync works on OSX
About the lock up, try to find the latest drivers on www.sonyericsson.com
Posted by ofiaich
thanks rikken,
I will try that. It seemed on first search that parallel running of Windows was the way to go.
I will do some searching, and if no luck, will borrow another Windows PC.
@ravager, what drivers do you mean? USB drivers?
edit... The Sony Ericsson site says the latest usb drivers are included in Sony Ericsson PC Companion 2.0
I am using that one.

@Ofiaich try using SEUS instead of PC Companion. PC companion sucks as far as updating FW goes.

thanks Ricky D!
I downloaded and tried once but same lock up problem..
I will try again tomorrow afternoon!

You'r firmware is the first release of 2.1
There was second on 22th December, and in a few days there is expected even newer update bringing Multitouch to X10.
So yes, i'm pretty sure You will be updated when connected to PC

22nd December was 2.0.2.A.0.24. Baseband was changed to 2.0.49 and the onscreen keyboard improved by the keys being made slightly larger.
The strange thing is. My black sim free uk model X10 will not update to 2.0.2.A.0.24. Everytime I check I get told I have the latest firmware. However, my white sim free Uk/french X10 was able to update to it.

After installing the MT(dual touch) update i have been trying to play some new games to try it out
but Dual Touch is very limited, and does not work good at all IMO.
Nesoid/snesoid is still not playable.
Played some Dungen Hunter (but i don't think the x10i version even suports MT)
Tried some 2 player Air Hockey (unplayable)
Doodle Dash is somewhat more easy to play now with dual touch (there are only 2 buttons in this game)
Angry Birds have the pinch zoom function now(don't know if that makes life easier..)
Pinch Zoom is about all that works good
Everyone has wanted this but what does it really add to the phone? it's sounds better than single touch but
you cant use it for anything more than pinch zoom?
But The best thing is that SE did what they could and listened to the demands of the comunity
wish they did that when it comes to new android versions.
Posted by Ricky D
Pinch zoom has been useful for me. It does add to the experience a lot in my opinion. As for the games, I was never going to play a lot of games that may require this sort of thing. The most intense game I play is Angry Birds to which pinch zoom is great
On another note I just installed a sterile gingerbread ROM on my X10. Feels like 2.1 with makeup on so far but only really played on it for 5 minutes. Not even set it up the way I like it yet.

hrmmm pc companion says theres a new update for my phone...
currently running:
2.1
Baseband 2.0.49
Kernal 2.6.29
Build 2.0.2.A.0.24
wonder what the new one is???
SEUS tells me its about 162mb in size... But neither SEUS or PC Companion tell me what it includes... Im on generic UK
Posted by AndyD777
Ill be interested to know if there is a update.
I am currently running the latest 2.2.1 Beta 3 ROM and it works flawlessly.
