serious text work?
Have you try to texting with an iPhone + your finger? It's faster than typing with X1 + stylus... And it's already accurate with that big icon...
X10 also had an additional queued predictive texts that is showing at the same time... Just watch X10 messaging hands-on videos that is posted by rog at se-first.com... You'll know why you don't need a stylus...
Having capacitive screens means that we can enable multitouch for rapid keyboard tapping (later at Android 2.0) so we can types much faster with 2 fingers... Increased response time and touch sensitivity is also a big plus
For capacitive screens, there is also special types of stylus that work, but you wont need it since working with your thumb is easier... You don't need to push on the screen like you do with resistive... On capacitive, you only need to touch, and that's why we don't need a stylus on big 4" capacitive screens
EDIT:
I had tried Satio in local SE-Store in my town... Resistive screen is a big issue for me, especially if you had use iPhone before... Sometimes I want to use only one hands without stylus but I can't do that when typing with Satio in portrait mode...

All technologies have their pros and cons. In my opinion a capacitive TS is the better solution for working with your finger. Works much easier. Text working features (like easy copy and paste) have also been improved, so you don't need a stylus anymore. Bur maybe you're right, that for you a stylus-friedly screen would be better. But for me it was the right decision by to use the capacitive screen.

Oh dear. Doministry's figured out that most other phones aren't based on the Xperia X1.

You are wrong, there is a front camera of course but the black front fascia is hiding it well

I see two holes on the left side of the phones. Stereo speakers?
EDIT: Oh, only the upper holes has a sound. So what is the holes on the bottom left of the phone? (I'm not talking about a lanyard holes on the bottom )

both systems (capacitive and resistive) have pros and cons.... I agree that, with big screen, capacitive screen is okay for texting.... but sometimes I do want to make sketch drawing. Actually I do make a lot of drawing (sketch) on my Xperia X1. here I think, the stylus is very useful.

You can remove the battery cover thanks to this "hole".

No stereo speakers.. i wish it has!But i don't know the use of this holes..
As for the text work..who ever have that in priority go and buy XPERIA X2..not this phone..
Browsing without zoom in/out by multitouch is very annoying!!! + - buttons cannot zoom in/out in a specific area you want so you have to do extra moves to do that !! Com'on SE you can do better!
And with 1ghz cpu the menu MUST have be QUICK....veeeery QUICK !! There is no excuse for delays or frames !I had SATIO for 2 days and i was dissapointed!I don't need fancy transition effects with tranceperent photos...just speed like iphone (600mhz).

I started to use Opera Mini 5 Beta on my p1i lately and zooming is excellent on that. Made me love my phone again.
BTW, do you really need stereo speakers. How often do you really use that?

It is going to be very difficult to choose.

Will this screen be good in sunlight?

it is a TFT screen, so it should be fine in sunlight? my assumption anyway

I never had a mobile with stereo speakers. But I never had a device with such a big screen, too. I think it's nice to watch videos on X10. Stereo speakers would be very comfortable for a good sound while watching videos.
But all in all it's just a nice to have feature.

Stereo speakers are just a gimmick, W995 haven't got a much louder tone than it's mono speakers siblings anyway.
I'm more affraid of the vibra, in such a large device, it's probably hard to detect imo?

What the hell is going on? I am stunned and clue less!
Take a look at this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fm9gt7F91h4
& compare it to this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CA53X7bkBAs
The speed is uncomparable! On the first video it barely takes 1 second to open/load TimeScape while on the second it takes 3 seconds! The same thing is with MediaScape. Oh man I need an answer from SE’s officials.
Rikard, Mattias, Sumit please comment on how time it takes to load/open TimeScape and MediaScape?

What a nice retarded comment
It's about the TS technology which was present on all past (and present) devices
incl. all Pseries I used, right? Not any specific device.
As for txt work: guys, if you work with sms that's fine.
But when using Word for instance you don't use predective txt,
and basically: when EDITING like selecting few letters etc. it's a hell with your fat finger
compared to stylus. Please, there's no comparison really,
believe me: I work in theatres for years and finger is cr..p in this situation.
But of course, my anger is not about convincing anybody that one should use stylus not finger,
or about pointing a "better" or "worse".
I talk about CHOICE here: somebody else decides for me what is better! So I have no choice!
So the perfect situation is to have finger friendly UI which CAN be operated by normal plastic stylus or anything you like.
That's my point.
And the reason I will stay away from - anyway great! - X10.
P.S. Doesn't HTC HD2 have the same screen?
P.S.2. X10 is a great device anyway and creates a lot of hype here.... Nice.

My guess is that the variance in start up time must come from either different SW or that the Apps are ready lying in the background

Looks like they updated the keyboard (got new skin and right and left arrow keys) and added a skin to the calendar app. Thank god they haven't removed the week view, like HTC does....

They already gave the answer for that. For debugging purposes logs everything on the back ground which causes most of the lag.

Yea, Timescape looks very smooth and nice. Mediascape is smooth too, but there's more work to be done on it. Maybe SE has to decrease the inertia's movement in the Timescape.
Edit - another thing I saw is that SE has changed the colour of the menu's highlight:

The speed is about the same at this point, but mind you that both are still proto's.
The interface from X10 is much, much better, though. I totally love how timescape gives you a view of all your mails, texts, facebook updates, tweets, calls, taken photo's, played music and played vids in one Works pretty smooth too Only the infinity function in Mediascape is a bit slow still, but I expect that to be fixed in february when it goes on sale
Acer neoTouch and HTC HD2 are both faster at this point, but they where both retail units and the X10 was only a proto, so that could verry well change

Why didn't they announce this earlier, instead of just implying that it might be upgradeable to 2.0 in the Q&A.
Seams kind of stupid.
