They should take a lesson from Samsung

As shameful it may seem to some yes. Even brands like LG manage to out Froyo in a cheap budget device.

I guess you have to see what the market wants and expects in order to maintain your position as company

Even HTC Magic they brought Froyo in it, a cheap android phone and almost equivalent to X8

HTC Magic Froyo Update

HTC Magic

i hope all current Xperia line up will have a taste of 2.2 or 2.3 update

Has India got new update? I'm planning to skip this update and wait for pinch zooming.

New keyboard is nice.
I haven't noticed anything else.

Posted by Indiandawg
I was using Swype keyboard and now I use X10 keyboard. The good thing about the keyboard is the fast responsiveness of typing each letter, which I tried on Android keyboard and Swiftkey and Swype but out of all X10 keyboard has a very fast response of typing.

back2you said something about X10 and 2.3 in H12011. But then again he's also talking about pico projectors in the lineup for first half of next year too.

Posted by Big_D
Havent been here for a while, seems i miss alot. A new update? Does it include multi-touch? You cant root? Does it at least fix the MMS with Tmobile USA or is that a another unrelated problem altogether?

Though i didnt really utilize the full potential of my rootdd phone, having wifi tether and deleting unneeded apps is a plus.

Question remains, is it worth da update? Instead of losing more, i hope to gain something worthwhile with this update. And it's not like you can reverse the update, rite?

No update here so far. Mines a Generic UK sim free model which apparently from what I read has already had the update ??????

Someone said that SE should do what Samsung does which is churn out 20+ phones a year and only 3 or 4 are worth bothering with with some of the rest being straight copies of each other with perhaps a very minor change somewhere. Hmmmmm i'd rather they didnt otherwise there'd be even more whiners spamming over the internet.
Oh. Hang on a min. SE are already doing it but on a much smaller scale. The difference being that there are actually some noticeable differences in each model.

Posted by rikken
It is not about the number of phones produced but how quick they follow up with updates. The Galaxy are soon to recieve android 2.3. It took SE halv a year to get 2.1. They are spending too much time on MS and TS which imho should be scraped

I can still appreciate timescape but mediascape is a friggin joke. Supposedly all multimedia activities (mediascape) among others are displayed as a summary in timescape, but what good is that if we use 3rd party apps to play those which are 10 folds better than mediascape. With no equalizer, no playlist, tag editor/viewer, who'd use it in the first place? The video player plays limited formats while the photo viewer can't even zoom in full crop resolution. WTF. What are they attempting to achieve with this half baked piece of shite? Seriously?

Posted by Bonovox

Posted by Tsepz_GP
lol, i actualy like Mediascape, just wish it didn't lag so much sometimes, but to view Photos i use the default Android Gallery with the Gallery app shortcut.

Posted by moogoo
i like mediascape, but it is dreadfully slow and the delays when swiping between pictures and category screens baffles me. Why is there a delay!?

There's plenty of features that are missing or should be improved. Perhaps by doing an all in one integration, they spread themselves too thin and had to lose a lot of features. who knows.

I use 3rd party apps for all my music, video, and photo viewing. the only time i use mediascape is when i want to find all pictures of a particular contact. For that, i still go in and tag photos. I just wish you could manually add tags to pictures where the face recognition doesn't pick up anything.

Someone can tell me if the touch of my X10i is 100% glass or aluminate... silicate...?

Posted by goldenface
It's not mineral glass. It's toughened plastic.

According to the white paper its a Shatter proof sheet on Mineral Glass.

True
My bad!

Out of curiosity. Anybody knows how many x10 has been sold worldwide ?

Posted by Hobbs
Good question Rikken.I would love to hear the answer to that question myself.

Posted by Bonovox
They don't give detailed results like Samsung does saying they sold 10 million Samsung Galaxy's.

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Would also like to know how many big X10s sold, 1million maybe? one thing i like about this phone is that i have only seen one other person with it, it's not all over the place unlike the 5800xm which was owned by every dam Joe Soap.

Posted by rikken
They have sold many here in Norway It is indeed the best looking Android phone Hope they speed it up more soon.

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Yep, i often get compliments on it if i pull it out in public, some girl at the waterfront couldn't get enough of it kept saying that its a stunning phone...she had a white Blackberry 8520 so i just complimented her on her looks, cant stand those BBs

Posted by Hobbs
Tsepz That model BB is everywhere.Quite a cute little thing.Hope you enjoying Cape Town. Its very hot.Hope you at the beach.

Any news about update for X10? Would love to see 2.2 or even better 2.3(in my dreams ).

Just playing with custom 2.2 ROM, and damn, this device has potential, it's fast, responsive. And scores in quadrant pretty high...

Can you tell me what are the advantages of having Custom ROM?

Posted by Tsepz_GP
I am indeed Hobbs, it's unbelievably hot, took a drive down to Canal Walk to do a bit of shopping today, then had a lil braai, these past few days have been best spent outdoors, each day has ended with getting ice cream at milkylane and sitting at the beach for an hour or two, the more i come here the more i love this place.

Performance for sure, new Android version (2.2 is still beta, so it has some bugs), custom themes. It's like a refreshment for the phone, new UI and better performance. Here's an example of good looking 2.1 ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=879480

from unknown13x on XDA

Sad to say all the names are not even finalized. Neo? Duo? Never heard of them. Where's the info from? All I know is they're still codenames so far. Can we please stay on topic? This is not an X10 bashing thread.

Regarding the X10 I have already said in another thread to wait til after CES. There's some good news but not enough info yet. Which is why I have not disclose the information. Looking at all these reactions is now making me having second thoughts if I want to share the news or not

4:51PM They keep showing the Xperia X10 on the screen. Now shown: a Froyo upgrade for the Xperia X10.

Not so fast guys.

"4:51PM They keep showing the Xperia X10 on the screen. Now shown: a Froyo upgrade for the Xperia X10. UPDATE: This was a terrible joke, ruined by a typo. It was supposed to say "Not shown." Our apologies -- liveblogging is a rough game."

So to get the latest Android you'll have to buy Arc.
Very

Posted by moogoo
that arc is pretty slick with all the bravia processing, exmor sensor and hdmi output on top of everything else. i'm tempted but i just shelled out a crapload of money for my white x10. don't think i can afford the arc even when it comes out for the states, which probably won't be til fall 2011 or later..

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
Hmmm... I just connected to SEUS and apparently got the newest 2.1 update for my X10 (it said an update available). Switched my phone on after and all my apps were still there despite the phone taking about 5 minutes to power on. The phone says it still has 2.1 update 1. What the hell? Should I do it again?

Posted by 20545ZR16
not sure if this is old or new, i just got it on twitter via SE UK:

Well it says it was posted today (6th) I hope its not true

We need froyo. I want adobe flash man. Cmon

There has never been such thing.

Posted by Big_D
With this big screw up, I'm on the verge of dropping the xperia x10 and possibly the whole SE. Although the xperia arc looks amazing. But if not SE, maybe I'll try the Sharp phones, Panasonic and Toshiba as well as Sanyo is coming out with android devices, too. I just hope SE max out my x10 with updates while I still have it. But really, what a disappointment, SE. Though I still like Sony.

Posted by Hobbs
Ok guys,if thats the case I think its time we all keep an eye on XDA and hope a stable working 2.2 ROM is available in the near future.Or,sell this bitch and get a new phone.

Yes mate it is a huge shame for
And I have to say - AGAIN!
They just want you to pay for a new device.

They fu...ked me this way with every smartphone.
X1 did not get WM6.5 however it could. X2 introduced instead.
X2 never got a fully stable upgrade. They just pissed on customers.

Now X10. Nice phone. Good camera, design, everything.
And capable platform. And it's a top device WITHOUT cruical upgrade with Flash, install on memory card and other goodies.
JUST BECAUSE they decided this way.

I also like Arc - nice. But besides it's only revamped X10, I lost any trust they care about customers.
I mean if X10 would get the same Android, the difference would be smaller.
