What's this a new update since the 2.1??

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Could be bug fixes and some more enhancements to MS&TS. Haven't got the update prompt yet either, im also on Nordic, still says im on latest FW, so they might still be uploading it.

From the way I read it on the site, it appears so.

If your phone already has Android 2.1, you can use your mobile network* or a WiFi connection to download the software. Alternatively, you can connect to your PC and use PC Companion (if you don’t already have it, download via the button below). If your phone still has Android 1.6, you need to use PC Companion to update your phone with the latest software.

So yes, it's an update for users of either 1.6 or 2.1.

It doesn't state what the update includes, but it does note that it's network dependent, so it may not be released on all networks at the same time. I just checked with my Optus network using WiFi and it said I was already up to date with my 2.1

Hello All,
suddenly the update software icon appeared in the notification bar, but i did not updated,
i am on 2.1-update1 NCB
any idea what this is all about?
anyone tried it?

Posted by idumbakumar
samething happened for my X8 but no update through phone.. will check through PC...

Posted by idumbakumar
No update through PC as well...

I wish they fix that call screen.
I usually miss click many of the buttons.

I don't if you noticed, in a call when you put phone on your ear the screen doesn't turn off actually.
If you push to on\\off button than the screen really turns of during a call.
I wish they fix that too.

Also I wish they make unlock slider shorter. It is difficult to slide your finger until the edge.
Screen's edge has less sensitivity compared to middle.

That's all I need. Just minor tweaks

Posted by idumbakumar
i dint experience that kind of call screen issue..

Download multitouch visualizer, and check it, AFAIK this update doesn't bring MT according to XDA.

Posted by rikken
It seems I have been mistaken regarding the MT But it works in my Gallery (default android app)

Posted by gordonowusu
Is this update for operator branded phones or for generic phones. Sues says i already have the latest software. Am already on 2.1 update 1

Don't know. I updated to 2.1 a couple of weeks ago and yesterday I got a new one

New X10 update (2.0.2.A.0.24) brings bug fixes; loses ability to root

The main improvements appear to be better performance overall including Timescape and Mediascape, a new keyboard and some users are reporting louder in-call volume.

Do the camera photos zoom in to full crop resolution or is it just the same useless screen resolution that gets blurred as they get bigger?

Posted by rikken
They do indeed get blurred :eyes I`m having problems seeing the point of this update. Been trying it for a day now and my phone is still laggy

Pinch zoom doesn`t work in MS only in my Gallery (Shortcut Gallery from the market)

Posted by mode
Then what's the point of pinch zooming if you zoom in on a blurred image? Surely it's not too hard to implement full res zooming which other prehistoric phones and even X10 mini are able to do after so many updates. WTF SE.

Posted by Ricky D
@rikken so no 3rd party app pinch zooming? e.g. angry birds

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Updated my X10, definetly faster in general, Mediascape is a bit faster, Timescape is A LOT faster, tiles scroll so quickly and smoothly, even the App Drawer is faster and smoother. Speaker volume is a bit louder and clearer, overall a nice li'l update.

Posted by Bonovox
Have they sorted the call volume yet?? When I last used the x10 I called my dad & at top volume I could barely hear him

Posted by Indiandawg
Can we root the new firmware?

Posted by buntoo
@Indiandawg, Yh sure you can

Are you sure it is not the one finger zoom that we already have in the minis ore double-tap-to-zoom that is fooling you to think it is pinch-to-zoom ?

Try to move just one finger up and down or double tap on a photo and see if it zooms in and out.

As stated by SE them selves, MT is due in a update in Q1 2011.

2.0.2.A.0.24 Update

Sony Ericsson has released a new (minor) update for the Xperia X10 family. The firmware has been updated to version 2.0.2.A.0.24 with Baseband version 2.0.49. There is no official changelog from the company so we can’t officially say what changes it brings. The main improvements appear to be better performance overall including Timescape and Mediascape, a new keyboard and some users are reporting louder in-call volume.

SE have blocked the current rooting method with the latest update. However, the chaps over on XDA forums have released a re rooted update.

I have rooted my X10i with z4root. Does it get automatically unrooted if I update? =(

Yes, you need to re-root after the update.

Posted by Ravager
I'm downloading the update now, hope they have fixed the speed issues I've had with 2.1 so far. And multi-touch is quite convenient

edit:

As stated before, no MT and it's not a bit less laggy at app-meny or home screen.

Does Z4 root still work after the latest update? No update in the Phil yet.

Posted by Indiandawg
does the new update has pinch zoom?

Posted by >500
no multi-touch... z4root doesn't work with this update...

ive noticed an ever so slight speed increase, call volume is same, maybe slight better reception??

not too sure what they have done with this update, well, for 160mb, i dont think its done much at all

Posted by tai020381
What I've noticed is faster menu scrolling and messaging access when viewed from mediascape.

Posted by Bonovox
I hate Mediascape it's awful

Posted by OffLineR
@Bonovox
So do I.

Posted by rikken
And me too. It is bleedin`ridiculous

Posted by Bonovox
For some reason alot of pics look distorted in Mediascape. I remember the first time I ever got an x10 & I was looking for my files not realising they were in Mediascape. I was straight away hating it

Posted by rikken
Not to mention how slooooooooooooow it is And the lack of date from when pictures were taken makes me mad (pictures taken with other cameras and transfered to the sd card) And no album art ????? The media menu on my w995 beats the crap out of this one. . . . . .

Mediascape messed up what album art I had. All my albums no matter what artist it was came out with the same U2 album cover. I had to manually put it in. Total mess it is. And yes it is slow. Sony Ericsson either need to improve it or scrap it

Posted by rikken
They haven`t manage to improve it so far so they might as well scrap it Can`t see why it is so difficult to make it right. Thought they were top engineers.

Posted by Bonovox
Yes indeed and where are Sony Ericsson new phones its taking longer than ever. Instead we get rubbish like a Yendo.

Posted by rikken
The Yendo is not even a joke. Where do they come up with these ideas ? SE is falling behind due to slow and inadequate updates of existing models and they spend too much time releasing new models

Posted by Bonovox
Sad reality
